Pro-Life Video Activism Contest to ‘Blanket’ YouTube

Washington, D.C. (4 September 2008) – Rock for Life, a project of American Life League, is cooperating with Students for Life of America and Stand True Ministries on the first-ever pro-life video activism contest. College and high school-aged contestants will submit videos on ending taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.

The contest comes on the heels of a YouTube effort to silence pro-lifers. Last week, YouTube yanked four videos exposing Planned Parenthood's apparent willingness to accept donations made by a caller who posed as having racist intentions. The videos were produced by Live Action Films, a pro-life student media organization. Similarly, in February, YouTube pulled American Life League's ALL Report on Planned Parenthood's "Mile High" ad and, in July, YouTube removed the Population Research Institute's video revealing an abortion-supporting film producer's deceptive tactics.

"We are calling on pro-life youth to expose the deeds of darkness. Planned Parenthood has an evil agenda, and it must continue to be exposed," said Erik Whittington, director of Rock for Life. "There is no better way to expose these deeds than to post them on YouTube!"

The videos must be posted on YouTube and submitted by 11 p.m. on October 11. Students for Life of America will be awarding a first-place prize of $2,000; a second-place prize of $1,500; a third-place prize of $1,000; and an honorable mention prize of $500.

Organizers hope the contest will stoke the fire of internet video activism, a growing force in the pro-life youth movement. "We are excited to cooperate with SFLA and Stand True Ministries in this project showcasing the creative juices of young pro-lifers," Whittington said. "Many young people are pro-life, and they are all survivors of America's hidden holocaust: abortion. These videos will blanket YouTube with a life-affirming message."
