We often hear that the youth are the future of the pro-life movement, but as Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life always reminds us, the youth are also the present of the pro-life movement. This is one of the reasons why American Life League’s National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week has been such a hit with America’s pro-life youth for the better part of the last 10 years.
It all began back in 2004 when ALL staff realized that, since most young people enjoy wearing T-shirts, a pro-life graphic on one would be a wonderful addition and a great way to share our message.
With the collaborative effort of longtime pro-life leaders like Judie Brown, Bryan Kemper, Erik Whittington, and others who worked at ALL at the time, National Pro-Life T-Shirt Day was born. We eventually stretched it out to an entire exciting week.
As the campaign evolved over subsequent years, contests were created to add fun activities that youth could participate in to win prizes, all while evangelizing about the need to end abortion and defend all human lives. The photo contests in particular became wildly popular as young people across America wore their pro-life T-shirts and snapped photos of themselves in all sorts of public spaces, and then shared these pictures on social media. Inevitably, other youth took notice that their peers were standing up for the preborn and decided to join the fight against abortion.
The photo contests were combined with a scavenger hunt where young people were encouraged to go out of their way and out of their comfort zones and wear their pro-life T-shirts in school, at the mall, and in other places where young people would see them. Predictably, some students met resistance at their own schools as some school administrators asked students to either remove their shirts or turn them inside out. Thankfully, the Thomas More Law Center assisted ALL in providing the necessary tools and information these young people needed to defend the First Amendment right to free speech.
In 2015, National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week is bigger and better than ever!
American Life League will launch NPLTW2015 at the March for Life Expo in Washington, DC, on January 21 and 22. There we will have a booth where you can get your own official NPLTW2015 T-shirts in two new awesome designs and colors. National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week is scheduled to take place nationally from April 28 to May 4, 2015, but the build-up starts now.
As you can see in the pictures accompanying this article, we have the grey “LIFE DEFENDER” shirt that is a must for any of you pro-life warriors out there who want to make a bold statement in style. Our other official NPLTW2015 T-shirt is our “Person – Inside & Out” shirt which comes in a beautiful sapphire blue with a graphic of a back-to-back mirror image mom, with one side showing her pregnant and the other holding her baby in a sling. Both shirts were designed by ALL’s very own talented Bonnie Seers and printed by our new friend Daniel Parente who runs the excellent pro-life company Fallout Print Shop. They are available online at NPLTW.com for only $15, plus shipping and handling.
For NPLTW2015, we are proud to announce that David and Jason Benham of the Benham Brothers have become the official spokesmodels for our NPLTW T-shirts. Both of these guys were terrific as they welcomed us to their office for an awesome photo and video shoot that includes a shot we took to create a life-size stand up of them. We will feature this at our March for Life Expo booth so that you may take a selfie with the Benham boys! The short video of them can be found at NPLTW.com.
In addition to these great leaders, we have over 40 pro-life organizations as cosponsors of NPLTW2015. These include Priests for Life, Live Action, Students for Life of America, Stand True, Jill Stanek, Rebecca Kiessling’s Save the 1, Walter Hoye and Issues4Life, Operation Rescue, and many more. Our list continues to grow!
Becoming an NPLTW2015 cosponsor is free, and we welcome anyone reading this to contact Mary Flores at to sign up today!
Not only are some of the most awesome pro-life organizations stepping up to the plate as cosponsors, but many of the leaders are also sporting the official NPLTW2015 T-shirts in a series of virtual pro-life “all-star” baseball cards which our own Dwain Currier created for us. As part of our contest, we are encouraging youth to share these virtual pro-life all-star baseball cards across social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to earn points and win prizes. The more the cards are shared and the more viral they get, the more people across America will hear our pro-life message and get to know NPLTW and all of the people and organizations that are part of this exciting campaign.
Let us know how we can help you organize a group event during National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week to wear the shirts at school, the mall, your local park, at an elected official’s office, and especially in front of your local Planned Parenthood or other abortion mill.
Join American Life League and all of your favorite pro-life leaders starting January 2015 through National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week, which takes place across the nation from April 28 to May 4, 2015. Let’s get the message out there that we are all Life Defenders!
