Florida schools will be teaching sex to fourth graders

A Florida school board has decided by a 4-1 vote that teaching children about sex in an AIDS curriculum recommended by Planned Parenthood is appropriate. Community members and a local pastor in Port St. Lucie, Florida have been working very hard to educate the board and the community about the "appalling" material in the "Get Real About AIDS" curriculum.

Pastor Bryan Longworth has co-founded the group "Youth for America" and has collected more than 3,750 petitions in opposition to the curriculum. He said, "In teaching this to fourth-graders, the school board will rob children of their childhood. I have not met one person who is in favor of teaching sexual content to fourth-graders. Even some supporters of this curriculum think this goes too far."

On the pro-abortion Advocates for Youth web site that outlines Get Real About AIDS, the program is described as "designed for high school students." Some of the findings of this program include increased condom purchase and increased condom use.

Pro-lifers around the country should be aware of Planned Parenthood working its way into public schools. In particular, this is one example of Planned Parenthood getting involved in a health curriculum. Keep in mind that anything the school board votes in can always be voted out. To learn more about how to get PP out of your school, read Jim Sedlak's Parent Power. The full version of the book can be viewed online or you may order your own copy.

To get involved and find out more about what these pro-lifers are doing in Florida, go to Sex Ed Facts or call Pastor Bryan Longworth at 772-380-2111.

Doctor thinks sex should be taught to five-year-olds

Dr. Charles Saunders, chairman of the British Medical Association's consultants' committee in Scotland. believes sex education should be offered to students as young as five. His reasoning is because in Scottish schools, students do not learn about sex until age 10 or 11. He claims that students by the age of 12 are already experimenting sexually.

This is the same type of philosophy that Planned Parenthood continues to push. One of Planned Parenthood's main goals is to get its own sex education programs in grades kindergarten through twelve. In 1986, Faye Wattleton, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, announced a corporate goal of "establishing a K through 12 sex education program in every school district in the United States." Planned Parenthood has been working for a long time to make this a reality.

Instead of teaching about abstinence, Dr. Saunders believes that sexualizing your children at the age of five will lower teenage pregnancies.

Teaching children about sex with graphic pornography, demonstrating how to put on condoms, informing children about all types of birth control (including abortion as a form of birth control) is not the way to help lower teenage pregnancies. Teaching children how to respect their bodies and others by living a chaste life is the way to help lower teenage pregnancies.

Letter to the editor: Group uses deceit

The following letter to the editor is written by Barbara Martin from Fort Collins, Colorado. She sums up Planned Parenthood's mission very well.

Group uses deceit

Unable to defend its evil practices by openness and reason, Planned Parenthood has resorted to secrecy and deceit. This was apparent in Illinois when Planned Parenthood decided to build a 22,000-square-foot facility under another name.

It is also apparent in a case closer to home (Denver) where Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains purchased land under the guise of Fuller 38LLC and broke ground for a new 50,000-square-foot headquarters and clinic to be built at 7155 E. 38th Ave.

There are reasons why Planned Parenthood hides its head behind fictitious names.

  1. PP is the leading abortion provider in the nation, having killed 264,943 unborn babies in 2005 alone.
  2. PP performed 8,800 abortions in the five-state Rocky Mountain region last year.
  3. PP supplies graphic and sexually explicit materials to the young, some of which make it into Colorado schools.
  4. PP reaches into not only our schools but also our pocketbooks by receiving government funding - more than $(3)00 million in 2006.
  5. PP operates a sex business, which makes its money from sexually active young people who find themselves pregnant or the bearers of a sexually transmitted disease.
  6. PP objects to abstinence education because its (PP) lucrative business would dry up without clients who actively engage in premarital sex.

Those who do good are not afraid to be out in the open and be known.

Apparently, Planned Parenthood won't be in this category anytime soon.

Be encouraged for 2008

Throughout this past year, we have reported on many successful stories in the fight against Planned Parenthood. Some of the highlights include the 40 Days for Life, the fight in Aurora, Illinois and much more. To see the stories we highlighted, be sure to take another peek at our 2007 Thanksgiving edition of the WSR.

The pro-life activists in Aurora have been a great example of working together at the local level to fight Planned Parenthood. The fight continues in Aurora, but their determination is something we chose to use as an example for fighting Planned Parenthood in 2008. Take time to view this YouTube clip of these pro-lifers over the past year.

Surgical abortions are down in South Dakota

In South Dakota, there are two Planned Parenthood clinics in the entire state. One is in Rapid City and the other is in Sioux Falls. South Dakota is the first state to have regularly scheduled protests at all of its Planned Parenthood clinics. There are states that are getting close to doing this, but we must continue to get the word out because peaceful protesting works.

A South Dakota Health Department report shows that doctors throughout the state did 748 surgical abortions in 2006. In 2005, it was reported that there were 805 surgical abortions. We must continue to pray and work together so that this number can be zero.

This shows that having a presence in front of Planned Parenthood can bring the number of abortions down. We need more participants in front of Planned Parenthood clinics across the country. To view which locations still need protesters, go to American Life League's Map Room at www.all.org/stopp/maps. It only takes one to begin the process of closing all Planned Parenthood clinics and save millions of lives. May you be inspired in this new year.
