CDC report and Planned Parenthood deceit
In the last few days there have been articles online citing a 3 percent increase in teen births. In these same articles, you may have read that Planned Parenthood supporters claim it is due to the "failure of abstinence-only sex education classes." We are here to tell you what the report actually said.
On December 5, the Centers for Disease Control released Births: Preliminary Data for 2006. It was a report on the number of births in the United States in 2006. The data was broken down by age of the mother, her race and marital status.
Immediately, Planned Parenthood began using the report to push its agenda. On the same day the CDC report came out, Planned Parenthood sent out a press release that read, in part, "Today's news underscores what Planned Parenthood and those who work tirelessly to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies already know too well: the United States is facing a teen pregnancy health care crisis, and the national policy of abstinence-only programs just isn't working."
It went on to say, "The United States still holds the dubious distinction of having the highest teen pregnancy rate among the most developed nations. It is time for everyone who cares about teenagers to start focusing on the commonsense solutions that will help solve this problem."
Planned Parenthood's sister organizations began echoing this doomsday rhetoric.
The problem is, the CDC report did not present any data on teen pregnancy rates. The entire report was on the number of births and birth rates (also called fertility rates). Nothing was mentioned about pregnancy rates.
What does the CDC report say?
The first line in the results section says: "The preliminary estimate of births in 2006 was 4,265,996, an increase of 3 percent from 2005, the largest single-year increase in the number of births since 1989, and the largest number of births since 1961."
Then it states, on page 3, "The year 2006 marks the first year since 1971 in which the U.S. TFR [total fertility rate] was above replacement level."
What does this mean? Well, it means that, in 2006, Americans decided to start having babies again. It's only one year and we don't know if it is an aberration or the start of a trend. But, for 2006, we had a healthy birth rate and, if it continues, the start of a bright future for our country's population.
Planned Parenthood, of course, is a population control organization. It does not like the fact that more babies were born in 2006 than in any year since 1961. Babies being born are a failure for Planned Parenthood. How sad.
What about teen pregnancy?
The CDC report also contains data on births to young people, to teenagers. The report shows that births to 10-14-year-olds went down in 2006. But it also showed that births to 15-19-year-olds went up.
The report says "the preliminary birth rate for U.S. teenagers 15-19 years rose 3 percent to 41.9 births per 1,000 females in 2006, the first increase reported since 1991."
Planned Parenthood seized upon this fact and the accompanying data and loudly proclaimed an increase in teen pregnancies "caused" by abstinence programs. The problem is that there is nothing in the report that backs-up that conclusion. Remember, we are talking about birth rates, not pregnancy rates.
Birth rates are affected by two things: the number of teens that become pregnant (pregnancy rate) and the number that have abortions. If the same number of teens became pregnant in 2006 as did in 2005, but fewer of those teens aborted their babies, the teen birth rate would increase. The increased birth rates could be caused by effective pro-life activity. By the good work of dedicated people who educate teens and stand outside Planned Parenthood abortion mills and give pregnant teens life saving alternatives. There is nothing in the report that confirms that, but there is also nothing that disproves it.
Planned Parenthood is trying to mislead the public here. It is trying to equate birth rates with pregnancy rates and hope nobody notices. Please don't let them get away with it. At every possibility, let people in your community know exactly what the CDC report says and what it did not say. Submit comments on various articles and blog entries online.
Planned Parenthood and its supporters have really attempted to twist this study around. It is our responsibility to educate others on the truth, now that we understand what this study is actually saying.
Former PP abortionist pleads guilty for child pornography
George Kabacy, a former Planned Parenthood abortionist in the Columbia-Willamette, Oregon area, has pleaded guilty for engaging in and advertising child pornography.
Kabacy's e-mail address led to the finding of hundreds of sexual images of young children on his computer and compact discs.
An article on LifeSite News describes a correlation with abortionists having no respect for children: "Reports of abortionists being convicted of sexual assault, malpractice or negligence have been common and said to be logically associated with the lack of respect and care not only for the child in the womb, but also for the women undergoing the abortions."
YouTube video on PP's "Choice on Earth" cards
Last week we informed you about Planned Parenthood's "Choice on Earth" cards. This week, we came across a YouTube clip that depicts the true nature behind abortion and these "Choice on Earth" cards that Planned Parenthood is promoting. The truly graphic nature of Planned Parenthood's "choice" is clearly depicted in this video.

Try caroling in front of PP clinics this Christmas season
Christmas is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of the Christ child. Planned Parenthood uses this time to promote the death of children in the womb. As a means of publicly portraying the reality of Planned Parenthood's agenda, the Pro-Life Action League in Chicago has, for several years, conducted an event it calls "Empty Manger" Christmas caroling.
American Life League supports this effort and we encourage all our readers to conduct a similar event outside every Planned Parenthood facility in the country (or other abortion facility if there is no PP near you).
The date for this event is Saturday, December 22.
On that date we hope you will all gather outside of Planned Parenthood, with an empty manger, if possible, and sing carols. The Pro-Life Action League provides a sheet with the lyrics of the carols.
The babies, the mothers, the families, and all those working in the abortion world need prayers. The "empty manger" idea is very symbolic in this situation. As tradition, Christians have the empty manger as a symbol of waiting for Christ's birth. We can also have a double meaning behind this by placing one in front of a Planned Parenthood or an abortion center while we are caroling. This empty space is the emptiness that is left behind by an abortion and the hope that each child is given every right to be born into this world.
Letter to the editor: Consider the source
The following is a letter to the editor by Mark Colstrom of Billings, Montana commenting on a letter to the editor that Stacey James, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana submitted on November 27.
Consider source of Planned Parenthood info
In her letter, [the] CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana bemoaned the increasing costs of birth control for "Thousands of Montana college women . . ." My first thought was, "There's a whole lotta fornicatin' goin' on 'round here." Then I thought, "Since [the CEO] proudly uses the PP label, perhaps PP has changed its nefarious ways." Au contraire.
In a well-documented article by Heritage House '76 titled "Planned Parenthood, It's Not What You Think," I found that PP aggressively promotes abortion and is the nation's largest abortion provider (let's not forget that each abortion kills a human being); although abortion rates are dropping, PP's abortion business is increasing; that while promoting sex and abortion, this not-for-profit organization rakes in nearly $1 billion a year, one third of which comes out of your pocket; PP teaches teens the "art and science" of premarital sex (where our youngsters get "sexuality and relationship info you can trust from Planned Parenthood Federation of America); PP actively opposes parental-consent laws.
PP even opposes the ban on partial-birth abortion, the procedure in which an abortionist grabs the baby's leg with a forceps, pulls the baby feet first from the womb (except for the head), kills the baby, then removes the dead child.
So next time you see a letter from [the] CEO of Planned Parenthood of Montana, consider the source.
If you have submitted a letter to the editor in response to Planned Parenthood, we would like to receive a copy of it. Please send it to us at stopp@all.org.
We are also always happy to receive news of your successes outside of Planned Parenthood! Visit our web site and submit your success story. We'd like to use them in future publications to let people know how God is working through you by witnessing!
2008 40 Days for Life
This fall, more than 35 of the nationwide series of 40 Days for Life vigils were conducted outside of Planned Parenthood facilities. The presence of these prayerful people outraged Planned Parenthood and disrupted their killing business in many locations.
The leadership of 40 Days for Life has just announced its 2008 plan. In 2008, there will be two nation-wide events. One will take place during Lent and the other will take place next fall.
If you want to have an event in your community this Lent and be part of the national effort, you must sign up within the next week. Go to www.40daysforlife.com and become part of this peaceful, prayerful activity. Sign-up begins at 9:00 PM Eastern time tonight and continues until midnight Pacific time on Thursday 12/20
We pray that God will inspire many of you to have a presence outside of many, many Planned Parenthood facilities in 2008.
We also pray for the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the protector of the preborn, as we celebrate her feast day today, December 12.
