Birth control pill causes artery-clogging plaque

A new study has shown a link between the birth control pill and artery-clogging plaque. More than 1,300 women aged 33 to 55 participated in this study. The discovery happened by chance when “doctors studying residents in two Belgian towns found that women who used the pills had triple the expected levels of an enzyme linked with cardiovascular inflammation.” It was found that a woman’s chance of getting plaque in her arteries increased by 20 to 30 percent for every 10 years she is taking the birth control pill.

It has already been proven that the birth control pill can cause health risks. The pill can cause weight gain, acne, breast and cervical cancer and infertility. It lowers immunity to STDs and can also kill the baby that is inside the mother. Not only can the birth control pill cause abortions and increase chances of breast and cervical cancer, but now it has been proven that the birth control pill can endanger a woman’s heart.

Of course you wouldn’t find any of these scientific facts in Planned Parenthood’s “medically accurate” sex education programs. Planned Parenthood received an estimated $180 million of its $345.1 million clinic income during the 2005-2006 fiscal year from the sales of birth control products, including the pill.

Construction company still going forward with building PP facility in Portland, Oregon

In Portland, Oregon, persistent pro-lifers are battling an abortion facility that Planned Parenthood wants to build in an African-American neighborhood, next to a Muslim prayer center. Their group is called the Precious Children of Portland. We recently received an e-mail update from the group’s leader, Bill Diss, on a meeting they had with the company that Planned Parenthood wants to build the killing center. The following are excerpts from that e-mail:

Walsh Construction: Builder of the abortion chamber on MLK?

On October 23, 2007 Mr. and Mrs. Parker and myself met with Bob Walsh and the proposed project manager, Andrew Beyer of Walsh Construction. Mr. Walsh was not really that happy to see us there. As with most people on this project, such as the PDC (Portland Development Commission – who is selling the land so it can be used to kill children) commissioners, Beech St. Partners and the people at Walsh really do not want the world to know that they are involved with the world's largest provider of abortions and promiscuity for little children. Mr. Walsh did not like me reading statistics and information from Planned Parenthood. This scene was reminiscent of the first PDC hearing when Mr. Rosenbaum told me to stop. The PDC commissioners and Bob Walsh and the other lovers of Planned Parenthood really do not like to hear about the 264,943 abortions last year nor do they like to hear about the targeting of blacks for abortion.

Mr. Walsh told us he did not really want to make it a personal matter and he did not want to look at the politics and morality of the decision. Mrs. Parker was quick to point out that regardless of the legality and politics that one has to do what is right and that at the end of day we have to account to God for our choices. I pointed out to Mr. Walsh that it was not too long ago that people like the Parkers were not considered persons by the Supreme Court and now (as I pointed to the fetal models on the table) that these little babies are not persons. Mr. Walsh acknowledged that the Parkers were persons… Mrs. Parker told Mr. Walsh that we would be praying for him and he replied that we all need prayers… He also mentioned that it was not about the money. Does anyone out there know why he does want to build this abortion center if is not for the money? Is it for the blood? Is it for the lust?

Well like Vivian Parker told Bob, let us pray for him and let us contact Bob and Andrew and let them know we do not want this monster abortion facility in Portland.

Make your voice heard

There are many ways pro-lifers can make a difference and save lives. In our three-part plan, ALL describes different ways you as a taxpayer can help create more awareness in your community and be a pro-life witness, and thus defeat Planned Parenthood.

We often suggest writing letters to the editor, or writing newsletters, which is very effective, but another way that you can speak for the preborn is to make comments on the articles that are posted all over the internet.

Here is a perfect example. Go to this opinion piece on the Florida’s Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches newspaper web site: Letter: Extremists who oppose Planned Parenthood support ideology over science, and create a comment at the bottom of the article where it says “Post a comment.”

Most comments you can make without registering to a particular site, but this one does require a registration. All you need to do is click on “registration” and then it will ask you for your e-mail address. It’s worth the extra step to create a comment.

More and more people are participating in the online world. There is so much pro-life communication, education, conversions, and ultimately lives being saved due to the use of the internet. Look for opportunities to comment on news stories or opinion pieces and spread the pro-life message in cyberspace. Make your voice be heard with all of the resources we have.

Help needed in fight against Planned Parenthood’s Denver abortion clinic contractor

Planned Parenthood is planning to build a 50,000 square foot abortion center in Stapleton, Colorado (a suburb of Denver). In response to this, local activists have formed groups to try and stop this killing center.

Members of Colorado Right to Life have been at the forefront of the effort. A group called Colorado Families Against Planned Parenthood has been formed and one of their first efforts was to identify the contractor who Planned Parenthood has engaged to oversee construction. That contractor is the Weitz Company.

Weitz describes itself as follows: “Founded in Des Moines, Iowa in 1855, The Weitz Company is the second oldest general building contractor in the United States. By the 1980s, the company expanded its horizons by appealing to the national market, and today Weitz is the 19th largest domestic general building firm and the 19th largest construction manager at risk firm in the United States.”

As part of the activity to convince Weitz not to build this abortion mill, pro-lifers are now demonstrating outside the homes of local Weitz executives. These efforts have been having a negative effect on Weitz and the pro-lifers are looking to intensify their efforts.

If you live within driving distance of Denver and are able to help please contact Will Duffy by e-mail or call him at 303-495-3438.

Statement from Colorado bishops on PP

American Life League applauds the Colorado Catholic bishops for their public statement concerning Planned Parenthood. As described in their statement, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains purchased property under a totally different name. Planned Parenthood secretly bought the property by using the name “Fuller 38 LLC.”

We reported in the August 22 WSR that PP had admitted that it secretly bought land in northeast Denver to build an abortion facility and future regional headquarters. Sound familiar? It should. Planned Parenthood has done this before. PP bought property in Aurora, Illinois under a different name as well.

The new abortion facility will be at 7155 E. 38th Ave. in Denver and PP plans to open in the summer of 2008. The general contractor for the Denver Planned Parenthood facility is the Weitz Company LLC. As the bishops stated, “The public deserves to know the facts about Planned Parenthood.”

“When a minor comes to Planned Parenthood, she is provided information on contraception, sex education and treatment of STDs without parental notification. How can Planned Parenthood justify calling itself pro-family or pro-child when it intrudes itself between a child and parent?”

The bishops continue with urging all to “defend themselves and their beliefs against Planned Parenthood by every legal and ethical means at their disposal.”

To view the Colorado bishops’ statement, click here. The statement is the first one listed. While you’re there, take the time to read the many statements against Planned Parenthood made by Catholic leaders.

Planned Parenthood closing in Michigan

Planned Parenthood’s presence in the state of Michigan is on the decline. It is merging affiliates and closing clinic sites. We reported to you on October 10 that Planned Parenthood had closed some Michigan clinics due to financial problems. We also alerted you to the fact that PP had possible plans to close more.

ALL is happy to announce that the possible closings have become a reality. Planned Parenthood of West and Northern Michigan is closing two more clinics by the end of the year.

The following clinics have closed and/or will be closed by the end of the year; Planned Parenthoods in Hart, White Cloud, Kindel Center (in Grand Rapids), Mount Pleasant, and Muskegon, Michigan. An additional two other clinics have closed as the result of a merger that formed the new Planned Parenthood Mid and South Michigan affiliate. By December 31, Planned Parenthood will have closed seven clinics in the state of Michigan.

Praise God!
