Planned Parenthood in Nebraska sued for medical malpractice

Planned Parenthood abortionist Meryl Severson is being sued by a 40-year-old woman for medical malpractice.

According to a press release from Troy Newman of Operation Rescue, the woman, who filed the suit last Friday under the pseudonym "Jane Roe," alleges that Severson so severely botched her abortion that she lost 80 percent of her total blood volume and required an emergency hysterectomy to save her life.

According to the complaint, the woman reported to the Lincoln PP office on August 17 for an abortion in the eighth week of pregnancy. During the suction abortion, she felt a sharp, excruciating pain and asked abortionist Severson to stop. Three employees then held the woman down while he completed the suction process in spite of her pleas.

In the recovery area, a friend who accompanied her to the abortion clinic attempted to help her to the bathroom, but the woman, who was in intense pain and was bleeding, passed out and suffered the first of three seizures.

The woman was transported by ambulance to the local hospital where doctors treated her for "catastrophic perforation" of the uterus, which would have resulted in her death if treatment had been delayed any longer.

The abortionist, Severson, lives in Omaha, but splits his time between three abortion centers in Lincoln, Nebraska; Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Sioux City, Iowa.

"People need to be aware that when they walk into a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, they may not walk out," said Newman.

Planned Parenthood’s racism is showing

For many years, Planned Parenthood has denied that it is a racist organization.

Never mind that a member of its board of directors, Lothrop Stoddard, wrote an overtly racist book in 1920, The Rising Tide of Color against White World Supremacy.

Never mind that its founder, Margaret Sanger, began the Negro Project in 1939 with the specific intention of reducing the number of black babies born in this country.

Never mind that, until the mid-1990s, PP published an annual service report in which it revealed that 43 percent of its abortion customers were minorities – who made up only 22 percent of the population.

PP says we should ignore all that. It gave Martin Luther King, Jr. the Margaret Sanger award in 1966, so how can it be racist? Of course, PP forgets to mention that Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., currently tells audiences that her uncle would never have accepted the award if he had known PP’s real intentions—which came into focus years after his death.

How will PP explain away the alarming trend that is noticeable as it opens new clinics across the country? Bill Diss of Precious Children of Portland noted that the population in the area where PP is trying to open in Portland, Oregon is 43 percent black and the city of Portland has a black population of six percent. See www.pdx4life.org for details.

Bill recently pointed out that the new abortion mill that PP is planning for Denver, Colorado is in a neighborhood that is 64 percent black and Denver has a population that is 11 percent black.

We need to expose the truth about Planned Parenthood. For more information on Planned Parenthood’s attack on our black communities, go to www.blackgenocide.org.

Protestors at Planned Parenthood need to protect themselves

We have always advised that regular (at least weekly) demonstrations outside of Planned Parenthood are an important part of our efforts to close the abortion chain.

We insist that, to be effective, all protests must be prayerful and peaceful. In over 99 percent of all demonstrations, everything is peaceful. In some cases, however, things can turn unexpectedly confrontational and/or violent. There was a recent incident that brought this fact to light. We will tell you about the incident and how to protect yourself from even this unlikely circumstance:

Kevin was peacefully praying outside an abortion clinic last week when a client's husband assaulted him and destroyed his sign. When local police arrived 20 minutes later, Kevin had no proof of the encounter. The clinic owner claimed he forgot to start his video surveillance system that morning.

Kevin and his fellow pro-lifers should be commended for their faithful stand and peaceful prayers. But they made a critical mistake: They did not videotape themselves. Without hard evidence of the assault and property damage, the attacker might get off the hook, and it will be hard for Kevin to recover for his injuries in court.

If Kevin’s group had been videotaping their vigil, they would have had clear proof of the attack. The attacker's criminal actions would have been virtually indisputable as would Kevin’s civil case for monetary damages. Now it's Kevin’s word against the aggressor’s.

With today’s technology prices, there is really no excuse for not having a video camera at your PP protest. Low-end video cameras run as low as $120, depending upon the desired features. CVS Pharmacy even sells a disposable video camera for $29 that protesters could pull out in the event of an attack.

We encourage pro-lifers to continue to be a presence outside of every PP facility in the country. We implore you to have video recording capability just in case an incident such as the one described above happens. If you make sure your video equipment is very visible, it may even deter acts of aggression. If you have any questions about videotaping your efforts to stop PP, please contact the STOPP office.

Pro-life Memorial Day

American Life League's annual day commemorating the babies lost to abortion is October 1. This date is the first Monday in October, the day the U.S. Supreme Court begins its new session.

It is fitting that there be protests outside of Planned Parenthood on that day, since it was PP that brought the Griswold case to the Court, where justices somehow found the “right to privacy in sexual matters” in the emanations of the penumbra of the Constitution. That set the precedent for the decriminalization of abortion in Roe v. Wade.

This year’s official Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirt is particularly fitting, as it has a picture of the Supreme Court building on the front with the title “Tomb of the Unborn.”

We encourage everyone to demonstrate at a Planned Parenthood center that day. You can obtain the official T-shirt for ALL's Pro-life Memorial Day 2007 online at www.ProLifeGear.com.

You can find the PP facility nearest to you by going to www.PlannedParenthood.org and entering your zip code in the search box at the top center of the page.

Teens voice opposition to Planned Parenthood

According to news reports, over 700 teens protested outside the new Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Aurora, Illinois last Saturday.

The Youth for Truth teen group, which has hurriedly organized in opposition to the proposed new PP killing center, marched for two hours outside the facility and let everyone know that PP is not wanted in Aurora—even by the teens, PP’s target audience.

The numbers greatly exceeded what the teen organizers had hoped for. They had printed up 500 T-shirts with the group's name and the message "CHOOSE LIFE.” All 500 shirts were distributed very quickly.
