Planned Parenthood in malpractice case for death of young mother
Last week the Los Angeles Times reported that a malpractice suit was filed against Planned Parenthood for the death of a young mother who went to PP to abort her child. On January 31 of this year 21-year-old Edrica Goode went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Riverside, California to abort her baby. The lawsuit alleges that a nurse inserted cervical dilators despite the fact that she noted a vaginal infection in Edrica.
The dilators are called laminera; they are composed of a substance primarily made of seaweed and swell in size as they absorb bodily fluids. The lawsuit contends that it was these laminera that spread the infection quickly throughout the rest of Edrica’s body.
After the dilators were inserted, Edrica was sent home and shortly afterward became feverish and began vomiting. On February 4 she was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment. By February 14, both Edrica Goode and her preborn child had died of complications from the infection.
Despite how often Planned Parenthood claims that abortion must be kept legal so that it will remain “safe,” the death of mothers and their preborn children is not unheard of when Planned Parenthood is involved. In fact, in the state of California alone, three Planned Parenthood customers have died in the past four years. In 2003, 18-year-old Holly Patterson died of an infection after a she received a medical abortion from Planned Parenthood. The previous year, 25-year-old Diana Lopez bled to death after her cervix was punctured during a surgical abortion.
Do not let Planned Parenthood get away with its lies and its deadly work any longer. Planned Parenthood is responsible for at least one death every time it commits an abortion and as these lawsuits continue to surface, we realize that often it is responsible for hurting and killing both mother and child.
If you or someone you know was hurt in an abortion, don’t be silent. An organization called Legal Action for Women specializes in helping women who were hurt from their abortions file suit against abortion organizations. Contact LAW for legal referral by phone at 888-9-WOMENS or by e-mail.
Is Planned Parenthood finally getting the right idea?
A recent question and answer on PP's teen web site, TeenWire, reads:
Dear Experts,
I have mono and would like to know how long it is in my body because I don’t want to give it to my girlfriend. Is their anyway we can kiss and not spread it?
The Answer:
Mono is short for "mononucleosis," and can last for weeks or months.
Mono is transmitted by saliva, mucus, and occasionally tears, so you should avoid kissing your girlfriend — or anyone — until you are well. You should also avoid sharing drinks, toothbrushes, or eating utensils.
Wow! Believe it or not Planned Parenthood is actually instructing someone to avoid kissing to avoid the spread of a disease. Not once did Planned Parenthood mention using any other kind of “protection” but simply suggested that this person avoid kissing, or in other words: abstain.
How sad that Planned Parenthood refuses to take this same approach when it comes to the rest of its sex-ed ideas. Planned Parenthood insists that the best advice to give kids when it comes to avoiding deadly STDs like HIV is to “always wear a condom.” PP claims that it is “unrealistic” to expect that teens would avoid sex acts even if the risk of an STD is involved but somehow suggests that teens should avoid kissing so they don’t contract mono.
As much as we would like to believe this surprising advice is because Planned Parenthood has finally realized that chastity is the only way the STD epidemic will end, we realize that its motives are likely not so noble. The truth is Planned Parenthood is more interested in its customer’s cash than in his or her health. If there is a product or service that Planned Parenthood can sell then it will spin any lie to convince people to buy it. When it comes to this question on mono, we suggest that the only reason Planned Parenthood pushed for abstinence is because it doesn’t sell “lip guards” or get grants from the government to perform mono tests.
We encourage you to remember Planned Parenthood’s advice to this teen about mono so you can show people that when it comes down to it even Planned Parenthood cannot deny the value of abstinence.
New resources available in the fight against Planned Parenthood
Short of prayer itself, the most important step in fighting to defeat Planned Parenthood is to make our communities aware of the evil of its operations. If you can show your community that Planned Parenthood isn’t the benevolent “healthcare” organization it claims to be, people will happily join you in getting PP and its deadly deeds out of your community and away from your children.
It is clear that Planned Parenthood is afraid of people knowing the truth that it is the leading killer of preborn babies in the country. After all, recent reports show that Planned Parenthood’s president denies that it is a radically pro-abortion group and claimed in Philadelphia that its “reproductive health care” does not kill human beings.
According to it its own 2005-2006 annual report, in 2005 Planned Parenthood committed 264,943 abortions. This makes Planned Parenthood the fourth leading cause of death in the country. In fact, it has killed over four million preborn people through abortion since 1970.
All of this proves that Planned Parenthood commits the most abortions in this country—bar none. There is nothing else PP hates more than when people remind their community of this simple fact: Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading abortion provider.
To help you spread the word that Planned Parenthood is a business that kills children, American Life League is now offering three new resources. A new T-shirt, sticker and button all boldly proclaim “PP Kills Babies.” The shirt and sticker continue with the message, “Planned Parenthood runs the nation’s largest abortion chain.”
All of these items, as well as many more resources for your fight against Planned Parenthood can be found by visiting our online store or by calling 866-LET-LIVE (866-538-5483).

Three lives saved from Planned Parenthood in three weeks
A supporter of American Life League recently sent us the following e-mail regarding the tremendous fruits of the presence of their group outside of a local Planned Parenthood in Sarasota, Florida:
Thirteen people participated Friday in the abortion-day Prayer Vigil at Sarasota Planned Parenthood. At least three people contacted Sarasota Medical Pregnancy Center on Friday after speaking with a sidewalk counselor in front of Planned Parenthood. And, for the 3rd time in 3 weeks, one of those was an abortion-minded mother who decided to keep her baby.
As a counselor talked with a small group of mostly Spanish-speaking women and mentioned the pregnancy center, one of the women appeared to be taken aback as she looked at the banners with fetus and baby pictures. She asked, "donde?”, Spanish for "where?" They again were directed to the pregnancy center, and left shortly thereafter. We later learned that a woman in this group was abortion-minded, but it was too early for an ultrasound at the time; she will return for that and plans to carry the baby to term.
In another encounter, a couple said the mother has 3 children resulting from high-risk pregnancies, has scar tissue, her latest pregnancy is high-risk and doctors don't want to care for her. We referred them to the pregnancy center for advice and medical care contacts.
We congratulate the invaluable work of the people of Sarasota who stalwartly work to save lives and souls from the evil of Planned Parenthood in their community. We ask that you join us in praying that they, and all who stand in visible opposition to Planned Parenthood, may continue to be blessed with great success.
Remember, if your group comes together as a visible witness outside of Planned Parenthood in your own communities please e-mail us and let us know the location of the Planned Parenthood you protest, the times that you meet and any contact information for those who may be interested in joining you. We will use this information to compile a database of Planned Parenthood protests throughout the country.
