Planned Parenthood using scare tactic to discourage protesters

This Friday is Good Friday, a day when Christians all around the world solemnly remember the Passion and death of Jesus Christ. This is also a day when many opponents of Planned Parenthood come out in great numbers to be a visible presence of peaceful protest against PP’s lies and the killing of the innocent. Numerous PP affiliates are releasing statements to the media, or placing signs in front of their clinics warning protesters that if they come, then Planned Parenthood will receive more donations through a “pledge a picketer” campaign.

Don’t be discouraged by this ruse. It is nothing more than a scare tactic. For one, people who donate to Planned Parenthood intend to do so, whether it is through this campaign or some other fundraising appeal. Secondly, donors put caps on the amount of money they will donate in the event huge numbers of protestors show up.

The most important thing to realize however, is that being a peaceful, prayerful presence at Planned Parenthood’s clinics is the most effective means of stopping its deadly work. This action has successfully saved lives, converted hearts and closed down entire clinics.

So this Good Friday, and every day you can, go out and be a visible witness in opposition to Planned Parenthood face to face. Do not be discouraged by “pledge a picketer” campaigns or any other type of bullying. In fact, if you notice PP employing such tactics, count it as a victory, because it shows that Planned Parenthood is on the defensive.

While we did not stand at the foot of the cross when our Lord was crucified, we can stand at His feet now. For as Jesus Himself told us, “as you do to the least of these, so do you do unto me.” This Friday, may all of us stand in vigil for the least, the innocent pre-born, at their hour of death to be a witness in visible protest of their murder and unite our prayers to the Passion of our Lord, begging for mercy upon us all.

Planned Parenthood podcast claims sponsorship from eBay

According to a bulletin put out by Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, it will be sending a crew on a nationwide road trip to record episodes of its podcast, “Speaking of Sex.”

You may remember from previous Wednesday STOPP Reports some of the disgusting subject matter that is discussed in these podcasts. Now this information will be spread from Seattle to New York.

To garner publicity for this endeavor a video slide-show was posted on YouTube. According to Planned Parenthood’s bulletin, “The first Planned Parenthood affiliate to get 5,000 hits for their video will win $5,000 from eBay.”

Up until this point we did not know of any specific relationship with eBay so we were curious about the origin of this sudden support. Here’s what we’ve learned so far.

A fellow named Steve Westly, former senior vice-president of eBay, gave a talk at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s conference on March 30. The description of his session was "Business and Innovation Plenary — Steve Westly, co-founder of eBay."

In 2006, Westly ran for governor of California and became known for the fact that he ran his campaign mainly on YouTube. He apparently no longer works for eBay.

This may be a private donation aimed at getting the PP sex video to be widely seen. However, Planned Parenthood’s bulletin implies that eBay is sponsoring it through means of this podcast. We encourage our readers to write eBay and make them aware of this claim and ask for action. If eBay is aware of this arrangement, let them know that you and your friends will not want to do business with eBay if it continues to support Planned Parenthood. If there is no such arrangement between Planned Parenthood and eBay then ask that eBay make it clear that it does not support PP’s work.

Planned Parenthood celebrates another year of abortion and perversion

Each year Planned Parenthood throws an annual gala where it praises itself for the work completed in the past year and bestows awards upon people who were instrumental in promoting its agenda. Last Thursday, this gala took place at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California and featured celebrities and public figures. Some of the attendees of this event were Emmy Award-winning actor Stanley Tucci, Gilmore Girls star Lauren Graham and Neil Patrick Harris, star of the CBS series How I Met Your Mother.

Planned Parenthood granted the Ruth Green Award, presented to an affiliate chief executive, to Judy Tabar, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Connecticut. The mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa, was honored with the Planned Parenthood Hero Award for his role in helping promote Planned Parenthood’s political agenda. The Margaret Sanger award, named after PP’s founder and presented to “recognize leadership, excellence and outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement,” was granted to Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers of America.

Planned Parenthood’s Corporate Leadership Award was given to Working Assets for generating funding for PP and its ilk. You may recognize this organization as the service provider of Planned Parenthood’s new cell phone service, so it is no surprise that PP would honor it with an award.

Additionally Planned Parenthood gave Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle its Stand Up for Women's Health Award in response to his veto of bills that would have allowed pharmacists to refuse to dispense dangerous and unethical drugs. PP praised Governor Doyle for refusing to accept federal money earmarked for abstinence-only education. In his acceptance speech Doyle said it was time for government to “move beyond the fights, and get to a broader agenda – an agenda of reducing unwanted pregnancies."

With a statement like that one can see how much influence Planned Parenthood clearly has on the governmental workings of Wisconsin. In fact, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin in the previous election made numerous questionable advertisements for Doyle’s re-election campaign. One can only wonder if the governor is simply returning the favor by promoting PP’s radical agenda.

Priests in Texas organize faithful in opposition to Planned Parenthood

You may remember from previous Wednesday STOPP Reports that Planned Parenthood is building a new facility in Lufkin, Texas. However, even before ground has even been broken on this facility, PP has been facing opposition from the community every step of the way. Pro-lifers in Lufkin have been utilizing many of the aspects of STOPP’s Plan for Defeating Planned Parenthood.

One of the most integral parts of the plan is informing community leaders about Planned Parenthood and gaining their involvement in the fight against it. In Lufkin, two priests, Fr. Joe Kannampuzha of St. Andrew’s parish and Fr. Bill Slight of St. Patrick’s, have taken charge of organizing their parishioners in opposition to Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood claims the Lufkin facility will not be used to provide surgical abortions; but in light of its recent expansion, members of the community are not so sure. Even if it were true, the activities of dispensing dangerous contraceptives, lying about health information and spreading sexual perversion provide more than enough reason to fight this Planned Parenthood clinic until it closes its doors for good. v Both parishes have begun organizing protests and support for local crisis pregnancy centers, which give young mothers resources for their children.

Already a cemetery of the innocents has been erected at St. Patrick’s, a visible memorial of the tremendous toll abortion has upon this community. Teenagers from the church’s confirmation class have also been praying in front of the local PP clinic in visible protest to the evil of Planned Parenthood.

We congratulate the good people of Lufkin, especially those like Fr. Kannampuzha and Fr. Slight who lead the fight against Planned Parenthood, for their courageous stand against its evil work. We know that if they continue to fight then there will be tremendous fruits. Finally, we encourage our readers to join us in prayer for the people of Lufkin, and all communities who oppose Planned Parenthood, that they may not grow weary but will be successful in closing down the PP facilities in their community.

The Resurrection

Finally, this Sunday is Easter. A time when we commemorate Jesus’ victory over sin and death. We must always remember that nothing, even the enormous evil of Planned Parenthood, can withstand the power of God’s grace. We pray that this Easter, and always, you may be given the peace that only the Holy Spirit Himself can give and the knowledge that with God there is certain victory.

May you have a most blessed and holy Easter.
