State of Washington coming to the aid of Planned Parenthood?

From the February 21 edition of the Wednesday STOPP Report, you may recall a story regarding the closing of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Longview, Washington. We are sad to announce that this facility may remain open after all.

An article in The Daily News explains that county commissioners have agreed to waive the monthly office rent for this Planned Parenthood clinic. In addition, commissioners have also said that they are willing to “help with overhead costs as well as marketing.”

This news is simply outrageous. Not only will Planned Parenthood be given free use of the facilities in which it operates, but the local government is also offering to pay for all of the remaining costs of operation. In addition, government officials are suggesting that tax money even be used to market this business.

The reason given for this sudden financial support of PP is that Cowlitz County, where the clinic is located, has the state's highest rate of gonorrhea for the second year in a row. Officials said they “want to tackle the numbers that have gotten Cowlitz County so high.” The irony is that Planned Parenthood has existed in the county for some quite some time and yet the rates of disease are still tremendously high. Clearly PP is not having any effect on reducing the rate of gonorrhea.

What is even more bizarre about the government officials bending over backwards to serve Planned Parenthood is that the article states, “the clinic only saw five to eight patients a week when it was open.” The final outrage is that, according to the 2005 federal Form 990, Planned Parenthood of Western Washington, which operates this clinic, has over $15 million in cash and investments in the bank right now. Certainly that amount of money would be more than sufficient to pay for the rent, overhead and marketing costs for this clinic.

Something is very suspicious about this arrangement to say the least. It seems that somehow Planned Parenthood has convinced the officials that it is a community necessity. The reality is that there is never any need for Planned Parenthood, and in fact community health services would be able to help even more people if PP and its tax funding were out of the picture.

We encourage our readers to contact the commissioners of Cowlitz County and let them know how outrageous it is for a government to be paying for the overhead and marketing of this big business enterprise. The commissioners can be reached by e-mail:

Planned Parenthood founder to be praised as hero at University of Florida

Tonight, Planned Parenthood’s VOX college group will be hosting a play, Margaret Sanger: Radiant Rebel, in the Phillips Center Black Box Theatre at the University of Florida. The play is a one-woman performance based on the letters, writings and diaries of Margaret Sanger and is being presented in honor of Women’s History Month.

A brief overview of the play shows that this performance paints Sanger as a champion of women’s health. The overview states explicitly that “Sanger did not advocate abortion, but prevention.” The play goes on to make it seem as though Sanger were concerned for the well being of the poor in her community and made great sacrifices to help those in need.

The sad fact is that Sanger had a radical agenda of normalizing uninhibited sexual activity and “purifying the race” through the use of eugenics. The irony of this play is that it claims Sanger did not promote abortion while at the same time it references her letters and diaries. The reality is that several of Sanger’s private letters show that she specifically advocated for the use of abortion, even in Planned Parenthood’s (then the Birth Control League) own offices.

This is a woman who is responsible for working to legalize the distribution of pornography through the mail. This is a woman who advocated birthing licenses so people of “dysgenic stock” would not be allowed to have children. This is a woman who founded an organization that kills a quarter of a million innocent children every single year. Clearly she is not someone who should be praised as a hero.

We encourage our readers to learn more about Margaret Sanger and to educate others on who she was and what she advocated and endorsed. In the STOPP CD set Jim Sedlak gives an excellent explanation of her perverse and eugenic philosophies and the origins of Planned Parenthood. We also offer a free downloadable version of our pamphlet, “Who Was Margaret Sanger,” on our web site. Full color copies of this pamphlet are also available. Tempe clinic opens after remodeling

On Friday, March 23, a Planned Parenthood clinic at 1250 East Apache Blvd., Suite 108 in Tempe, Arizona re-opened after having been closed since November of last year. The remodeling of the 20-year-old clinic cost $450,000 and the facility is now about one-third larger than the original building. Planned Parenthood CEO Bryan Howard said that in addition to “clinical services and counseling,” this clinic will also have "a strong educational and awareness component." It is reported that the clinic “will be more of a resource center, with a special room for educational activities, including a sexuality educator, and will also be a meeting place."

With this new building’s emphasis on “education and awareness,” Planned Parenthood is making it no secret that it is not the “health care organization” it claims to be but is instead interested in pushing its political agenda through inaccurate statements to communities more than ever before. This comes as no surprise though. In its 25-year plan, Vision 2025, PP’s third goal is to “secure passage of laws and policies, including state and federal constitutional amendments that guarantee reproductive freedom for all.”

This political agenda is pushed by Planned Parenthood through its involvement with laws such as the Prevention First Act. But the principal way PP promotes its agenda is through pushing what it calls “comprehensive, medically accurate sex education” programs in communities. It is time that all community leaders and members stopped believing Planned Parenthood’s lie that it is a “health organization” and started realizing that it is interested in pushing a radical agenda through the passage of unjust laws and the indoctrination of young minds.

Please take the time to educate someone new this week about the lies of Planned Parenthood and the evil work in which it partakes. You can do this through the use of letters to the editor of your local newspaper, statements at school board meetings or city council events, or even by simply mentioning facts about PP to your friends after church or to a family member over the phone. The evil of Planned Parenthood is disturbing all by itself; we only need to make sure that people are made aware of the truth and they will realize that they too must work to stop Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood clinic closes and leads to decrease in donations

Recently the PP clinic in Oxford, Ohio closed its doors because it could not compete with the services provided by the nearby Miami University student health clinic. Becki Brenner, CEO of Planned Parenthood in the southwest Ohio area, claimed, “It's a win for us” because “the Planned Parenthood mission is still being carried out.”

However, the reality is that it is a victory instead for those who oppose Planned Parenthood. In addition to the fact that there is one less PP clinic lying to and hurting young men and women; Brenner went on to admit that she felt the clinic closing is “unfortunate” because of the tremendous donor base located in Oxford that Planned Parenthood will lose.

This closure shows that the closing of a clinic not only prevents PP from doing its evil work at that location, but also helps to limit the evil that Planned Parenthood does as a whole by decreasing visibility and donations. Please continue to educate your communities about Planned Parenthood and be a peaceful presence in front of the clinics to show that PP is not welcome in your community. Above all, pray that every single Planned Parenthood clinic will close its doors for good.
