PP in California targeting young girls
A subscriber to the Wednesday STOPP Report, who is also on Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties’ e-mail list, forwarded us an e-mail about an event happening this Saturday. The e-mail was advertising the “first annual Orange County Young Women's Health Conference.”
According to the web site mentioned in the e-mail the goal of the conference "is to ensure that young women have access to all the tools necessary to prevent unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections.” Of course we know that this means PP will be advocating for the use of dangerous contraceptive chemicals and devices, but not discouraging the unchaste behavior that is at the root of these problems.
Outrageously, the headline of the e-mail stated, “Don't let your sophomore, junior and senior high school young women miss this important day.” With this conference, Planned Parenthood is specifically looking to indoctrinate your girls aged 15-18 into a sexually permissive and contraceptive lifestyle.
We encourage concerned citizens of the surrounding communities to come out to Chapman University and peacefully show your disapproval of this conference. Let Planned Parenthood know that you will not allow it to teach its immorality to the teenage girls of your community. Pray that all people running and attending the conference will have a full conversion of heart and mind to the truth about sexuality.
Planned Parenthood says this is the “first annual” conference; through your peaceful, prayerful presence make sure that it is the last.
Abortion isn’t the only evil of PP
In last week’s Wednesday STOPP Report we mentioned that that PP's status as the nation’s largest abortion provider is not the only reason that we should oppose it. Another big reason PP must be stopped is that it is one of the organizations most responsible for distributing and advocating for contraception.
According to Planned Parenthood’s annual report last year, it distributed contraceptives to nearly 2.5 million women and almost 100,000 men. Additionally, women obtained nearly one million doses of so-called “emergency contraception” from PP.
From Planned Parenthood’s actions lately we are seeing an even greater emphasis placed upon its contraceptive services. The most likely reason this is happening is because PP knows our society is more accepting of contraception than abortion. Many of the government grants and contracts PP receives are for its contraceptive distribution. Title X money is granted to Planned Parenthood specifically to fund these kinds of services. Schools and youth organizations continually invite PP in to misinform our children because they have been fooled into thinking contraception is healthy.
However, reports are regularly coming out in the news about the risks of contraception: Women are suffering from blood clots and strokes; people are experiencing increased susceptibility to illness, including STDs, etc. Many national and international cancer research organizations even list contraceptives as a carcinogenic (according to a German study, even some condoms are carcinogenic). Sexual promiscuity and divorce are the norm. Population in many nations is plummeting. All of this is beside the fact that all forms of hormonal contraception contribute to the chemical abortions of uncounted preborn children.
Planned Parenthood is interested in one thing: making a profit. If that means killing innocent people through surgical abortion or if it means spreading dangerous chemicals and devices that harm women and children, it doesn’t care as long as it can turn another buck.
Planned Parenthood is bad for our communities for many reasons. Don’t let anyone be fooled into thinking that its role in abortion is its only fault.
PP craves more Medicaid $$$
In an article posted on its web site last week, PP called for an increase in Medicaid money to distribute contraceptives.
The article suggests three possible actions to increase the use of contraceptive services funded by your tax dollars. However it most strongly encourages “equating the eligibility levels for contraceptive services with those for pregnancy-related care under national Medicaid funding guidelines.” Essentially PP is saying that contraception is on the same plane as health care for a pregnant mother and her child.
From a federal report we know that Planned Parenthood received $60.9 million from Medicaid waiver programs in 2001. This amount makes up for approximately one quarter of the total $240.9 million in government grants and contracts for that year.
If the percentages remained the same, then Planned Parenthood likely had received nearly $68 million of your tax money through Medicaid last year. However, according to this article that isn’t enough.
Planned Parenthood executives know how much the organization relies on government funding, especially Medicaid dollars, to continue its operations. Make sure that your elected officials know that contraception is not the same as pregnancy-related care and that you will not stand for Planned Parenthood receiving any more of your hard-earned tax dollars.
Your work is impacting PP
Each month Planned Parenthood releases a report that is meant to record “incidents of harassment and violence directed at Planned Parenthood.” Few of the items mentioned end up resembling anything similar to violence; the majority are reports of the peaceful prayers and protests by pro-lifers around the country.
The most recent list includes such incidents as “protesters handing out bags of anti-choice/anti-Planned Parenthood literature” in Texas, “150-200 protesters held an uneventful protest outside a Planned Parenthood” in South Dakota, and “protesters have gathered daily at the site of a future Planned Parenthood affiliate headquarters ever since learning of the new construction” in Florida.
The fact that Planned Parenthood includes such peaceful items on a list meant to record “harassment and violence” proves how effective they are against PP’s operations. Sometimes the fruits of your peaceful protests and prayers are not always apparent, but never underestimate the effectiveness of your visible presence at these deadly business centers. It is made clear through these actions that your community does not support Planned Parenthood.
