PP’s version of “comprehensive” sex ed
For many years, Planned Parenthood has been actively working to get “comprehensive” sex education to be taught on a mandatory basis in our children’s schools. In a reply to a question posted on PP’s web site last week, Dr. Vanessa Cullins, the vice president for medical affairs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, gave a small glimpse into what PP thinks “comprehensive” sex ed should entail. In her reply she states that children in elementary school should, “have a basic awareness of gender roles, health care, human reproduction, and sexual identity, and they should be comfortable with their own sexual thoughts and fantasies.”
Dr. Cullins goes on to say that children as young as 9 should “be familiar with birth control methods.” However for some reason Planned Parenthood’s “comprehensive” sex education plan teaches only “older teens” about the “potentially harmful consequences of sexual relationships.”
In essence Planned Parenthood wishes to teach young children that they should actively pursue their sexual fantasies without restriction and that contraception will always “protect” you, but not tell them about the negative mental, physical and spiritual side effects of fornication. That doesn’t sound very comprehensive.
Remember, this is the agenda that Planned Parenthood wants to force into your community’s schools and youth organizations so that it can mold its future customers. Make sure that these kinds of programs are not being taught in your local schools and if they are insist that they be immediately removed. Please visit the STOPP web site for more information on how to get PP out of your schools.
PP’s president thanks God for abortion
You may remember from the Sept. 20 issue of the Wednesday STOPP Report that Jim Sedlak recently gave a few speeches in Arizona. Jim spoke to the good people of Scottsdale and Tucson about what they can do to stop Planned Parenthood. Judging from an article printed in Sunday’s edition of the Arizona Daily Star, these speeches could not have been timelier. This article reports on the statements Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, made recently in a speech in Tucson. The reason she came to speak in Arizona is no doubt in response to the outrage the people there have against Planned Parenthood being in their community.
In her speech Cecile Richards mentioned that one of her main goals as president is to “broaden the public's perception of Planned Parenthood from the narrow view of it as an abortion provider.”
However only a breath later she stated, "Planned Parenthood provides safe and legal abortion care, and thank God we do, but here's something that's important to remember: It's 10 percent of what we do."
It is certainly true that PP's status as the nation’s largest abortion provider is not the only reason that we should oppose it. However, this statement shows that not only does Planned Parenthood commit over a quarter of a million abortions every year, but that it is proud and glad that it does. Not only that, but Cecile Richards suggests that our loving God would condone these horrific acts of violence.
Sadly, blasphemy is nothing new to Planned Parenthood; it mocks God daily with its crimes against His great gifts of human life and sexuality. Please pray extra fervently this week in atonement for these sins, and that God may convert the hearts and minds of all who are involved with Planned Parenthood and end the evil that is being done.
The importance of de-funding Planned Parenthood
We also have good news for you. In the same article mentioned above, Rachel Chanes, vice president of community development for Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona, is quoted saying, “Locally the organization's greatest obstacle is a lack of state funding.” Upon reading this, we immediately checked our research and found that the state of Arizona reports giving only a little more than $1,000 to Planned Parenthood each year. This is great news. Rachel Chanes’ statement shows that your efforts are paying off and it also shows the importance of de-funding Planned Parenthood.
Currently we have found that six states already report giving no money to Planned Parenthood. We have also found that another six states, like Arizona, report giving less than $5,000 each year. Please continue working to get our tax dollars out of Planned Parenthood’s pocket. We can already see the effect that this is having on PP’s operations in Arizona; imagine what can happen in your state.
To find out exactly how you can get government funding of PP stopped in your state visit the STOPP web site for detailed information.
Remember though that not all of Planned Parenthood’s government funding comes from the state. In a report issued in 2003, the federal Government Accounting Office showed a total of $162 million of federal tax money going to Planned Parenthood in 2001. It is important to continue to educate your friends and family about this and to get everyone to sign the petition to stop Planned Parenthood’s tax funding.
Is Planned Parenthood the low-cost provider?
Planned Parenthood claims it is the low-cost provider of health services for women. In Texas, the Houston Coalition for Life just finished its 40 Days for Life campaign. Last week, the coalition reported the following:
A mother of a young woman, who was scheduled to have a LEEP procedure done at Planned Parenthood, contacted us and asked for help in finding another provider for this procedure. She said that she would like to help her daughter pay for the procedure, but she would “not give Planned Parenthood a penny to support it murdering babies.” We are happy to report that we found another provider for the procedure at a very reputable hospital and the cost will be about one fifth of the amount Planned Parenthood wanted to charge.
Praise God for this work that the Houston Coalition for Life has done.
