Demonstrate outside Planned Parenthood on October 2

Pro-lifers across the country are planning on calling attention to just how much Planned Parenthood hurts our communities and destroys our future. Planned Parenthood opened the nation’s first abortion facility in Syracuse, New York in 1970. Since that time it has killed over three million babies in its own facilities.

On October 2, the nation will be marking Pro-life Memorial Day by calling attention to the millions of babies that have died through abortion in this country. What better place to hold an event than outside an office of the nation’s largest abortion chain?

To show this is a nationwide, united event, Pro-Lifers will all be wearing the official 2006 Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirt. In areas where it is too cold for just a T-shirt, Pro-lifers will wear the shirts over warmer clothing.

Update from South Dakota

Planned Parenthood is fighting hard to overturn the abortion ban signed into law this year in South Dakota. It runs the only abortion facility in South Dakota and must fly in abortionists from Minnesota, because no South Dakota doctor will do them.

American Life League has people on the ground in South Dakota, working beside local people to defeat Planned Parenthood’s plans. From first-hand experience, we can tell you that South Dakotans are fighting hard to defeat Planned Parenthood, but they need your help. We bring you here the latest communication from one of the leaders of the fight in South Dakota:

Abortion outlawed; Planned Parenthood panics

South Dakota desperately needs your help. That’s because Planned Parenthood has panicked. They are mounting an $8 million media blitz the next two months. It is a major propaganda campaign to demonize and distort the language on the ban on abortion in South Dakota. For the first time in history Planned Parenthood is more afraid of the courts than the people. With their backs against the wall, Planned Parenthood flew in people from all over the country to help gather signatures to put this issue on a referendum ballot. Planned Parenthood has never been more fearful. That’s because the South Dakota legislators did their homework before passing this courageous legislation.

The ban was based on an unprecedented task force report on abortion. A 17-member panel was appointed by the governor and legislature to study the effects of abortion on America for the last 33 years. Every aspect of abortion was researched. Over 3,500 pages of scientific research were collected. Fifty-four national and international experts testified. Thousands of affidavits were collected by women who were victims of abortion. Plus we heard from numerous state experts as well as public testimony from South Dakota. Both sides of the issue were given equal time and equal amount of experts. All this information was condensed into a 72-page report. It was the first report of its kind in history on abortion. • Abortion terminates the life of a separate, distinct, living human being, which can now be proven scientifically with DNA evidence and research in the field of molecular biology.

• Abortion hurts women. Women have no doctor/patient relationship. There is little to no informed consent in abortion, and abortion has major physical, mental, emotional and spiritual consequences that can be devastating to women. That’s why the legislation is called the Women and Child Protection Act. Government has a duty to protect its citizens.

The Supreme Court said if new evidence comes forth that demonstrates the humanity of the unborn, and that abortion hurts women it must be considered. Over 200 times the Supreme Court has reversed prior decisions.

This evidence was so compelling and overwhelming that two-thirds of the legislators in bipartisan support passed this legislation and it was signed into law by Governor Mike Rounds. The referendum however, gives Planned Parenthood the opportunity to deny, distort and demonize this evidence. The average citizen that works on the farm in South Dakota will not see all this evidence that the legislators debated. They will only see a 60 commercial paid for by Planned Parenthood. That’s why we are a republic and not a democracy. A democracy is simply “mob rule,” which always leads to despotism and tyranny. Putting this on the ballot caters only to Planned Parenthood’s radical political and economic agenda.

South Dakota legislators have told us that at their national legislative conferences other legislators are telling them they are planning to do the same thing if this passes. If 10-12 other states are emboldened to follow suit, that means MILLIONS OF UNBORN BABIES’ LIVES ARE AT STAKE. We simply cannot afford to lose this battle. It is a pivotal moment in American history like when George Washington crossed the Delaware to attack the Hessian army, or when Ronald Reagan went against all the Washington elites and political advisors and said, “Mr. Gorbachev, Tear down this wall.” We simply have to raise $4 million dollars this month in South Dakota to counter the propaganda Planned Parenthood will be putting on the airwaves. If there were ever a time when Christians should invest in the unborn the time is now and the place is South Dakota. We need thousands of people to help us win this historic battle.
