Disney gives $$$ to Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando was one of 38 recipients (out of 200 applicants) of Walt Disney World’s 2006 Helping Kids Shine grant. According to the Orlando, Florida affiliate of Planned Parenthood, the $20,000 grant will be used to “develop a peer education program for young women culminating with a summit on the importance of positive decision making.”
Thus, Walt Disney World selected Planned Parenthood to create a program that will indoctrinate our young girls into the Planned Parenthood free-sex philosophy and then send them out to their friends to corrupt as many as possible.
This is not the first grant from Walt Disney World to this PP affiliate. In 2004, PPGO received a Disney grant of $18,500 for its Teen Resource Center.
And what does PPGO think about teens having sex? Here is the statement from its web site: “Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando recognizes that sex and sexuality is a part of life, a part of who we are, whether we practice abstinence or are sexually active. We understand that as a teen, you need a safe, caring place where you can receive confidential, non-judgmental and affordable reproductive health care services as well as get reliable and accurate answers to questions about sexuality and sexual health.”
And Disney World is paying Planned Parenthood thousands of dollars, which come from visitors to the park, to lead our kids into lives of sin. Please consider this information as you plan your summer trip.
Have you ever thought of Universal Studios as an alternative? Universal Studios is not on the list of corporations that support Planned Parenthood. If you really want to have an impact, go to Universal Studios, save all your receipts and then mail the receipts to Walt Disney World and tell them you would have spent the money at their resort if they hadn’t given to Planned Parenthood.
CONFIRMED – Planned Parenthood says it will violate law
Last week (http://www.all.org/stopp/wsr060614.htm), we wrote an article about Cecile Richards’ talk at the Taking Back America conference. Richards is the president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. We told you how Richards, clearly speaking for the main 501-C-3 non-profit organization (and not for its action fund), vowed to get the organization involved in political races this year.
Since that time, we have listened to the audio recording of Richards’ talk, as recorded by Cybercast News Service, and can now tell you that everything we said last week is absolutely true.
The relevant parts of Richards’ speech are when she proclaimed:
Planned Parenthood has 860 health centers around the country in 50 states. We have more members, more employees and staff, than the 50 state Democratic parties combined. We have the potential to swing the vote in 2006, 2008 and 2010, and that’s a lot of power. So the question is what are we going to do with it? The answer is: We’re gonna use it. We’re gonna marry our current reality as the largest reproductive health-care provider in this country with our opportunity to be the largest kick**s [edited for decency] advocacy organization in this country.
We’re gonna channel our strength, our outreach, our power; work with our pro-choice allies to help progressive voices win in America. We’re revving up online; we’re putting volunteers on the phone and on the doors. We’re taking on the opponents of choice in the states and the districts where they live. Planned Parenthood has gotta become more political so that health care can become less politicized.
(Transcript provided by Cybercast News Service)
The involving of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s 860 "health centers" in political activity is a direct violation of laws governing the activities of 501-C-3 groups. As president of the organization, Richards must be familiar with the laws, but clearly stated she intends to have the PPFA centers violate the law.
How you can monitor Planned Parenthood
Clearly Planned Parenthood considers itself above the law. The Internal Revenue Service, which has the responsibility to enforce the laws regarding 501-C-3 groups, has issued a fact sheet for what non-profits can do in relation to political campaigns.
That fact sheet can be found online.
A quick reading of these guidelines reveals that the two paragraphs of Richards’ speech that are quoted above clearly show that, if PPFA follows through on Richards’ promise, it will be in obvious violation of the law.
We call on everyone who reads this newsletter to do the following:
- Read the IRS fact sheet and become familiar with what a non-profit can and cannot do during the upcoming elections.
- Monitor your local Planned Parenthood’s activities and document any apparent violation of the guidelines.
- When you uncover a violation, send a complaint to the IRS.
- Send us a copy of the complaint.
- Be vigilant. Don’t stop at the first complaint. Every new violation by your local Planned Parenthood should result in a new complaint. (A word of caution – do NOT file frivolous complaints … read the IRS fact sheet and only file complaints if the PP activity appears to violate the guidelines. Frivolous complaints may have the effect of the IRS overlooking a real complaint.)
- Pray that God will use all of this to bring about the end of Planned Parenthood.
With Richards’ statement, we have been presented a real opportunity to cut Planned Parenthood off from all government money and to end its tax-exempt status. Now is the time to act.
Planned Parenthood worried in Saginaw
A posting on the web site of Planned Parenthood of East Central Michigan shows just how much pro-life activity outside its clinics bothers the organization. Here is what the web site says:
Support PPECM
Sign Our Petition
In October 2004, Planned Parenthood of East Central Michigan opened a health center in Saginaw to provide low-cost family planning services to the residents of the Tri-Cities. Incredibly, there is now a movement afoot to run Planned Parenthood out of the Tri-cities!
Planned Parenthood was founded almost a century ago during a time when desperately poor women had few options for preventing pregnancy. Unbelievably, we find ourselves again fighting for their access to affordable contraceptives, quality reproductive healthcare and accurate information.
Right to Life's campaign to jeopardize these services is alarming! That is why we need your help to build a knowledgeable corps of supporters. Please share the truth about Planned Parenthood among your friends and ask them to sign the petition in support of our work.
The completed petitions will be provided to local officials and organizations to demonstrate this overwhelming local support. In addition, we will add these individuals to our mailing list, if they choose, so that they may stay informed.
Furthermore, we will canvass neighborhoods in Saginaw, soliciting support for our services. If you would like to join us as we gather signatures for our petition-drive, please call Ann Ousley at (989) 249-7736 or e-mail her at ann.ousley@ppfa.org
American Life League’s executive director, David Bereit, has spoken in Saginaw twice and was tremendously impressed by the dedicated pro-lifers who are eager to rid their community of Planned Parenthood. Congratulations to all the pro-lifers in the Saginaw area. You have truly gotten Planned Parenthood’s attention. We pray its Saginaw facility will close soon.
