Fighting Planned Parenthood in Gainesville, Florida
In October, the Pro-Life Alliance on the campus of the University of Florida protested a Planned Parenthood "Sex on the Lawn" event on the university campus. The event was sponsored by the University of Florida's Voices for Planned Parenthood (VOX) and featured a student wearing an alligator costume handing out condoms to other students. In addition, Planned Parenthood representatives were present to answers students' sexual questions and to "play games based on health facts."

In protest, the Pro-Life Alliance had a student dressed as the Grim Reaper and holding a sign that read: "I am the face of Planned Parenthood."
A VOX spokesperson acknowledged the active nature of the Pro-Life Alliance when she told reporters: ""They (Pro-Life Alliance) pretty much protest everything we do."
Congratulations to the University of Florida Pro-Life Alliance for their active opposition to Planned Parenthood. The University of Florida in Gainesville has an enrollment of over 40,000 students. Newspapers reported that only about 150 took part in the Planned Parenthood event.

Fighting Planned Parenthood in Dallas, Texas
Planned Parenthood of North Texas recently held an event called Cocktails for a Cause to celebrate its work and try to get increase its support among the 20- and 30-somethings.
The Dallas-Area Coalition Against Planned Parenthood held a demonstration outside the event and we received the following report from Daniel Vinzant, JoAnn Murray and Jessie Ann Nobles, all of whom work with groups that are members of D-CAPP. Here is a summary of what happened:
It was reported that the demonstration went very well, with 10 to 15 demonstrators present. They covered the whole area very well and used American Life League's "Planned Parenthood Steals Souls" signs and the giant red stop signs from Pro-Life Waco that said, "STOP Planned Promiscuity."
The demonstrators called the police as they arrived and apologized for not giving them more notice. The police took notes and said they would not send anyone out that night unless the demonstrators needed them.
Daniel reported, "The men in PP's crowd were the most vocal and came across the street to engage in conversation or at least name calling - weirdoes, morons, and idiots were our collected favorites - although I did notice that in a sea of Lexus, Mercedes and Infinity cars, that the men most agitated were those losing hair, having a bit too many pounds around the middle or driving older American cars. I am thinking the pressure of keeping up with the "rich and pretty" was wearing on them quite a bit."
JoAnn reported, "The crowd was the one I expected and reinforced who I have always believed really supports Planned Parenthood in this town, although this definitely was an effort to engage the younger set."
Planned Parenthood's off-duty police officer security guard about busted a gasket when we arrived and called the sub-station only to be told they knew we were there and all was OK. It was a Master Card "priceless" moment indeed. They were stuck with us for the whole evening.
In an interesting side note, several of the young men who work for a valet parking company that was hired to park the cars of the PP attendees are pro-life. They told the D-CAPP members that they didn't know it was a Planned Parenthood event until they got there. Several of them said that while they were driving people in their cars they were praying.
STOPP congratulates all who took part in this demonstration against Planned Parenthood. It is just awesome to see how God uses these demonstrations to affect so many lives.
Fighting Planned Parenthood on Pro-Life Memorial Day
In a follow-up to the events described above, the Texans Opposed to Planned Parenthood group challenged Planned Parenthood on Pro-Life Memorial Day, October 3, 2005.
The following report was received from Daniel Vinzant, head of TOPP:
We had 10 adults and three children-and one detective, four squad cars, and seven policemen. How safe we did feel as we all held our signs and the four in the designated Pro-Life Memorial Day T-shirts carried the baby casket as we held a Rosary processional down the entire "private drive" and around the apartments and PP building and back to our regular spot. By the time we were back, there were two PP big-wigs yelling to the police about how we had broken the law and needed to be apprehended, and how they had the proxy for the entire neighborhood association and that it was indeed a private drive. The police listened a bit with me at arm's length and then sent them packing with the information that we had done nothing wrong.
The police then talked to me and tried to hold the party line. The said the street was not on the Mapsco and that "usually meant" that it was not a city street and therefore a private drive. I countered with the fact that was not a legal definition and I had been after them for over a year to prove it was a private drive and the burden was on them to prove it; that we were actually welcome by others who were down the driveway and since when did the federal government put post office facilities on a private drive? They took it all to heart and continued to agree with us that we had violated nothing.
It was a very successful remembrance of the babies.
