Democrats for Life supporting two Planned Parenthood initiatives
An organization called Democrats for Life of America, Inc., is pushing what it calls "The 95-10 Initiative." It describes this initiative as "a comprehensive package of federal legislation and policy proposals that will reduce the number of abortions by 95% in the next 10 years."
STOPP has received several phone calls asking if we support this effort. Our answer is, "NO."
The reason we are not supporting this is because the stated legislation that the 95-10 initiative endorses include two of the most damaging Planned Parenthood proposals. These are:
- Require insurance coverage of contraception approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
- Provide grants to school districts that are in need of funds to administer effective, age-appropriate pregnancy prevention education.
Both these measures have major problems. Almost all FDA-approved so-called contraceptives kill babies in the womb, and age-appropriate sex education is the thing that created the abortion travesty, not something that will end it.
When asked what we recommend in place of the 95-10 Initiative, we tell callers "Support H.R. 552, the congressional bill that will grant personhood to the preborn child."
Planned Parenthood and "Community Health" in California
STOPP recently received correspondence from the California Right to Life Committee, Inc. We thought that this clearly demonstrates the kind of deceptive practices PP is doing all across the country and are including excerpts for your information:
Recently I participated in a panel discussion on Prop 73 with two other pro-life people and three pro-abort women. One young woman was from Planned Parenthood, another, much older woman spoke for N.O.W. and a third, young, eager, aggressive woman represented something called Bay Area Community Health Education - BACHE.
I couldn't get the title "Community Health" out of my mind. What is the meaning of Community Health? Is it different than individual health? I looked up BACHE online and discovered that they were sponsored by the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and Clergy for Responsible Choice. Their mission, as stated on a flyer, is to "promote teaching of comprehensive, medically accurate, age appropriate, bias free, sex education in the public schools." In other words they are an arm of PP. But are they something more than that?
As usual they have distorted and twisted the meaning of words such as "bias free" and "medically accurate." As I was sitting there on the panel listening to them say whatever they felt like, accurate or not, it occurred to me that these people are so confident in themselves, their belief, their message; and so confident that they will be accepted without question that it doesn't disturb them to say whatever they want, true, accurate or otherwise. And, there is an equal number of people in audiences everywhere that will accept their claims and, basically, want to be deceived. We, pro-life people, can spout truth and facts 24/7 and these people are not going to hear us. Bluntly, they have been brainwashed. These are not people who can be reasoned with. But, understanding their mental attitude and the reason for their blindness to facts and truth can be a big advantage to accessing their audiences.
In the past I have written of the need to be alert to the word "comprehensive" as it applies to legislation, especially sex education legislation. It usually means the full Planned Parenthood array of sexual indoctrination for students.
Now I suggest that another word to be aware of is the word "community" as in "community health."
People who form into groups, large or small, such as this local version of the ACLU - BACHE - are on a mission to force the world, nation, state, city, neighborhood, to conform to their vision of social or human or civil rights justice. Never mind the US Constitution. That which, in their minds, meets the needs of the group rather than the individual is paramount. The health and needs of the individual are of little concern to these people. In the minds of these elitists they see the stated needs of the individual to be at odds with the perceived superior needs of the community, and, according to the dogma of these people, the community comes first. The individual who objects is merely a confused, misinformed, selfish, radical individual who has not yet accepted the vision. If you cannot be convinced then you will be silenced through public humiliation and intimidation.
So, if a woman, poorly educated, member of a minority, without a job, is pregnant it is in the best interests of the community to abort this woman. Her child is viewed as the enemy, the source of human pollution. But, it goes beyond that. These people believe that they have the right to direct the social, economic, educational, work related, health care areas of individual lives in order to create a healthy community. In that regard non-profit and religious groups have formed partnerships with governmental agencies, bypassing the Brown Act, which requires open government meetings, to work in secret to change communities and the lives of the individuals who make up the communities to meet the standards of the visionaries.
All STOPPers should be vigilant in their communities to check out the work of "community health" and other groups to be sure they are not just serving as another way to spread Planned Parenthood's message. The fight against PP also involves all those groups spreading its message using different names.
Planned Parenthood and "Race for the Cure"
The Susan G. Komen Foundation continues to give money to Planned Parenthood.
You may recall that there was a great public outcry when the Cybercast News Service documented that Komen gave $475,000 in grants to local PP affiliates in 2003. In October, the Clarion-Ledger in Mississippi reported that, in 2004, Komen gave 1.2 percent of its over $40 million donations to PP affiliates. That works out to over $480,000. Now comes word from the November 3 edition of The Aspen Times that the Komen Foundation has announced a grant of $12,887 to Rocky Mountain Planned Parenthood.
Since Komen seems not to care that it is funding the largest abortionist in the country, we ask all STOPPers to educate your local communities and put an end to community support for the Race for the Cure.
Planned Parenthood continues assault on churches
We've highlighted before the fact that Planned Parenthood is trying to push its agenda through churches. On November 4, WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee reported that Planned Parenthood has sent more than a thousand letters to Mid-South area churches encouraging them to lead the way in providing sex education to children. Planned Parenthood reportedly included an offer to have PP come in to the churches and provide educational sessions.
STOPP encourages all Mid-South pro-lifers to talk with your churches about the need to keep Planned Parenthood away from our children. This will be a great opportunity to share the truth about PP with local clergy.
