Introduction
The fight against Planned Parenthood is gaining momentum all across the country, and we are continually seeking to respond to the needs of those on the front lines of this effort. Many of you have requested that we alter our Ryan Report to bring you more timely information in a shorter format. So, we have created the Wednesday STOPP Report to fill that need. This is the first issue of WSR. The Ryan Report will become an annual publication, sent out every December, to bring you a full analysis of Planned Parenthood's latest financial and service numbers. All subscribers will receive the weekly reports as well as the annual report. We would greatly appreciate any comments you have on these changes. You can send comments to us at STOPP@ALL.org.
Planned Parenthood pushing illegal sexual activities for our teens
The school year is beginning to move forward and STOPP has been receiving a number of calls from around the country concerning school sex education programs. This is a common occurrence at this time of the year.
Sex education is a big topic for Planned Parenthood because it is through these programs that PP recruits its future customers. On its national web site, PP has a special section called Education Outreach. In September, Planned Parenthood was featuring a number of activities in its "Classroom Activities" category. One of the activities highlighted was Healthy Sexuality and the description was: "This activity aims to teach teens what it means to be sexually healthy. As sexuality educators, we have a responsibility to help adolescents develop the values, skills, knowledge and attitudes that will help them take responsibility and have good sexual health."
Educators were then taken to a page on the PP web site for teens and the concept of Healthy Sexuality was described in an article, "Are you sexually healthy?" Now, we are going to give you the link to this website so you can read the article if you wish, but we warn you that most will find this very offensive material - yet, it is on a web site for teens. You can read the entire article at: http://www.Teenwire.com/education/activity-013.php.
At the end of the article, Planned Parenthood lists what it considers are teenagers' rights. PP tells our children:
While sex may be a private thing, sexual health affects us all. That's why it's important to speak out for your sexual rights. Teens have the right to:
- learn about their bodies
- decide whether or not they want to be sexual - alone or with another person
- say no to unwanted sexual activities and say yes to desired sexual activities
- learn about their sexual health - including information about birth control, sexually transmitted infections, safer sex, and sexual pleasure
- express their sexuality without fear of pregnancy, infections, prejudice or violence
You have power over your body and your sexuality, but with that power comes responsibility. So use what you've learned wisely, and work towards becoming a sexually healthy person!
Read that again. Planned Parenthood is telling our teens that they have a RIGHT to engage in sexual activities with another person. Yet, every state has laws protecting our young people by establishing an age (usually 17) under which they cannot legally consent to sexual activity. In other words, most states consider anyone younger than 17 to be underage - a minor. But there is no mention of these state laws in PP's article.
As you fight Planned Parenthood sex education in your schools, we recommend you copy this article and show it to school officials and parents. Show them how PP is encouraging illegal sexual activities by our teens. Remember, this article doesn't say that PP is trying to stop teen sexual activity while giving the teens information to protect themselves (as PP normally claims); this article is telling our children they have the RIGHT to have sex!
For more information on how to fight PP sex education in public schools, we encourage you to visit our web site or click on the following link and order your own copy of our book, Parent Power!!
For CATHOLICS who are fighting sex education in CATHOLIC SCHOOLS, we highly recommend you visit Veil of Innocence and avail yourself of the fine information there.
Planned Parenthood's "sexologist minister"
Debra W. Haffner, former director of education for Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington D.C., has become a minister in the Unitarian Universalist church. She is still in the business of pushing offensive sex education on our children and refers to herself as a "sexologist minister." Haffner is director of the Religious Institute on Sexual Morality, Justice and Healing. This institute is another attempt by Planned Parenthood to sell its programs as being "okay with God." Haffner was featured earlier this year on a PPFA web page.
The institute's primary declaration proclaims, in part, "We call for … a faith-based commitment to sexual and reproductive rights, including access to voluntary contraception, abortion and HIV/STD prevention and treatment." It also proclaims, "All persons have the right and responsibility to lead sexual lives that express love, justice, mutuality, commitment, consent and pleasure … [This] applies to all persons, without regard to … age … marital status or sexual orientation." In other words, it is okay with God if teens have sex.
The institute lists over 2,000 "religious leaders" as endorsers of these philosophies. Haffner recently spread this sick Planned Parenthood philosophy in a speech to the National Coalition of Girls' Schools. Watch out for Haffner showing up in your neighborhood.
Planned Parenthood in D.C. upset with growing opposition
In a September 6 fundraising letter, Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington D.C. complained that the number of doctors willing to work at its facilities has fallen from 11 in 2003 to just four. The organization is also upset that "protestors have been writing down the license plate numbers of our staff and doctors." The fundraiser contained an insert that was a copy of an article quoting STOPP's national director, David Bereit, on the successes being made all across the country against Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry.
