‘Celebrate Life’ magazine highlights
progress against Planned Parenthood

STOPP International, an American Life League project, is claiming initial victories in its new thrust to expose and defund Planned Parenthood, the nation's number one promoter of abortion. Citing growing public awareness regarding Planned Parenthood's anti-family efforts, "Planned Parenthood's declining profits indicate a growing weakness which bodes well for protecting preborn babies," said Ed Szymkowiak, National Director of STOPP International.

Three articles in the latest issue of American Life League's Celebrate Life magazine (July/August 2003), report how the hard work of STOPP International leadership has been instrumental in closing a planned abortion facility in Monrovia, California and contributed to Planned Parenthood's reduced customer base in 2001.

"In addition to the information provided in the articles," said Jim Sedlak, executive director of STOPP, "we are aware of Planned Parenthood closing another abortion facility in Daly City, California and that the legislatures in both Texas and Ohio have voted to withhold government money from the organization."

"We have been fighting Planned Parenthood for over 18 years," said Szymkowiak. "We currently are involved in numerous fights against Planned Parenthood across the country and are always willing to provide consultative services to any group that wants to actively oppose the Planned Parenthood agenda."

According to Sedlak, the three main reasons why people fight Planned Parenthood are:

  • Because Planned Parenthood actively comes between parents and their children;
  • Because of the outrageous amount of taxpayer money given to Planned Parenthood by the government ($2.5 billion since 1987);
  • Because Planned Parenthood is the single largest abortion provider in the country.

"This combination," said Sedlak, "is why so many Americans are increasingly upset with Planned Parenthood and why they are ready to peacefully and prayerfully work to STOPP it."
