"Planned Parenthood should be ashamed," said Ed Szymkowiak, national director of STOPP International (an American Life League division), "and no American should ever support this organization or its activities."
Planned Parenthood of New York City offered free "reproductive health care" to New York women who are "in need due to the World Trade Center tragedy." STOPP phoned Planned Parenthood of New York City and confirmed that the free services would include abortions.
"Planned Parenthood obviously made its offer in an effort to garner some cheap publicity during this time of national crisis," said Szymkowiak. "How tragic. Planned Parenthood's free abortions will only increase the death toll in New York."
This is not the first time Planned Parenthood has tried to exploit a tragedy. During the refugee crisis in Kosovo, Planned Parenthood thought the proper response was to provide people with emergency contraception (the morning-after pill). This drew fierce criticism from the Vatican, which noted that such pills were often abortive.
