Gates IPPF Christmas ‘blood money’ will help eliminate African children

"This is blood money," said Ed Szymkowiak, national director of STOPP International, a project of American Life League. The London based International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) announced Monday that it had received an $8.8 million grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to be spread out over 5 years.

"IPPF is the world leader in promoting surgical abortion and abortion-causing drugs," Szymkowiak said. "Gates' money will be used by an organization that bears responsibility for the killing of countless innocent children worldwide. IPPF is so dedicated to abortion that it was recently caught using $700,000 of U.S. government money for abortion related activities - something it promised not to do as a condition of receiving the funds. Gates' donation is not philanthropy, but fuel for the IPPF death machine."

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation 1999 Annual Report lists five grants to Planned Parenthood or its research arm, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, totaling $12,253,990. In addition, the report shows that he has given millions more to other population elimination organizations and programs.

"Gates' habit of funding population elimination programs is shortsighted as well. Many countries are reporting below replacement birth rates that are setting the stage for serious social and economic problems in the not so distant future," said Szymkowiak. "Singapore, for example, is now paying parents to have more children in an effort to stave off the looming economic damage to be caused by its shrinking population" (BBC News 8/21/00).

"Those countries that still do have healthy birth rates also tend to be countries of color. Population elimination programs, such as those funded by Gates, smack of racism when they target such countries," Szymkowiak continued. "We should not be punishing people who have the good common sense to have large families. Children are our future, and Gates should give his money to organizations that benefit children, not kill them via surgical and drug-induced abortion."

STOPP International spoke with black pro-life activist Rev. Johnny Hunter about the Gates gift. Hunter says he is an opponent of Gates' "misguided 'generosity'." Hunter says, "Abortion is racism in its ugliest form. Because of some very suave planning by abortion supporters and providers, abortionists have eliminated more African American children than the KKK ever lynched."
