The newspapers have been filled lately with reasons why we should not
send a little boy back to Cuba to live with his father. But little notice has
been given to the fact that the United States is slowly turning into a country
where your first amendment right to assemble is being challenged.
One of the primary forces behind the loss of freedom in America is the
organization known as Planned Parenthood. As long ago as December 19,
1984, the Wall Street Journal editorialized: ``Planned Parenthood's love
affair with Socialism has become more than a harmless upper middle-class
hobby and now borders on the ludicrous.''
We have now become aware that Planned Parenthood, through the National
Abortion Federation, has been maintaining a list of all pro-life gatherings,
including the benefit concerts for crisis pregnancy centers run by Rock For
Life, one of our partners here at American Life League. The fact that it
maintains such a list is not a problem; it is what they do with the list that is
un-American.
You see, Planned Parenthood takes the list, adds it to a report titled ``Clinic
Violence Report'' and, as if this were Cuba, sends it to police agencies
across the country. American Life League recently received calls from the
state police in Alabama and Maryland, stating they had received this report
and asking about Rock For Life's concerts.
It appears that Planned Parenthood wishes to turn America into a police
state where any activity they do not expressly endorse must be monitored
by the police. And it is not just specific pro-life groups that Planned
Parenthood fears. On the list sent to Alabama police were several Promise
Keepers meetings.
Planned Parenthood sued the school district in Jacksonville, Florida to force
sex education program on the students. Planned Parenthood sued the city
of Bettendorf, Iowa to force them to rezone a parcel of land so an abortion
facility could be built near a school.
Planned Parenthood is now using the police to keep tabs on its opposition.
A Planned Parenthood America would force its view on all of us, and big
government would be the stick used to beat us into place.
