Planned Parenthood Selling Baby Body Parts
We have been reporting on Planned Parenthood activities for almost 15 years.
During that time we have reported on a number of terrible things in which PP has
been involved, but what you are about to read is by far the worst news we have
ever printed.
What you will read is well-documented and has come to light through the efforts
of Life Dynamics Incorporated (P.O. Box 2226, Denton, Texas 76202). The full
documentation, in the form of a 64-page booklet, is available from Life Dynamics
for $5.00.
This is not a story for the faint of heart. Be forewarned that what you are about to
read will shock you and may even make you physically ill. But, as far as we can
determine, it is all true. And it involves Planned Parenthood.
Background
Life Dynamics has recently made public the fact that the abortion industry is
selling, for profit, body parts of aborted babies. But "Oh," you say, "it is illegal to
sell human body parts." Yes, it is. But in typical fashion, the industry has found a
way around the law. Technically, they "donate" the parts and only charge for
their collection and transportation "services."
While there may be some legal distinction, there is no moral one. According to
Life Dynamics, Planned Parenthood is selling body parts of aborted babies.
The two main groups arranging for the sale of baby body parts are the Anatomic
Gift Foundation (with offices in Georgia, Maryland, Arizona and Colorado) and
Opening Lines, in Illinois.
The PP Connection
In the Life Dynamics booklet, you will find page after page of copies of actual
orders sent to Planned Parenthood facilities for baby parts. What kind of orders?
Well here goes.
(Final warning—this is not pleasant to read, but it is taking place at Planned
Parenthood.)
Let's take an actual order for baby parts from November 1992. The people
placing the order stated that they intended to use the parts obtained to do a
"study of Biochemical Characterization of human type X Collagen." They needed
a "whole intact leg, including the entire hip joint," from a baby that was "22–25
weeks gestation." The order noted that they wanted not one, but "4–6 specimens
per shipment."
Finally, the order specified that the legs must be "removed from the fetal cadaver
within 10 minutes." You can imagine the scrambling at Planned Parenthood to
make sure it cuts off the legs of these babies within 10 minutes of completing the
abortion! There is no mention in the order of how much money PP gets for each
baby leg, but Opening Lines' documentation states that they charge their
customers $150 for each limb.
Okay, let's pause and regroup. We are not writing here of some science fiction
novel or of some events that took place hundreds of years ago in some
cannibalistic society. This is happening today in the United States of America. It
is happening inside abortion facilities. It is happening at Planned Parenthood
abortion facilities. It could be happening in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, or Sioux
City, Iowa, or any one of the more than 150 places where Planned Parenthood
operates abortion facilities.
Let's look at a couple more examples, so you'll know just how routine this
business is.
Opening Lines charges its customers $50 for a pair of baby eyes. (Oh God, how
I hate to write this, but you must know what is happening. You must know about
this grisly business so you can do something about it).
Life Dynamics found that a Planned Parenthood clinic received an order in
September 1994 for baby eyes. The order stated that "4–10 eyes per day" were
needed from babies that are "16–24 weeks gestation." It instructed Planned
Parenthood to "immerse the eyes in DMEM" and to make "weekly shipments."
According to the order, these eyes were to be used for "research and
development of potential human transplant therapy."
As I was writing this, my daughter Terri Lynn stopped in the office with her new
baby. I told her what I was writing and said I wasn't sure that I should be
grossing people out like this. Terri said "You've got to gross them out, Dad.
People have to know what is happening. If I had that booklet you are reading
[the Life Dynamics book], I'd show it to everyone and ask them, "if it isn't a baby
in the womb, how come they are selling its parts?"
So, with Terri as encouragement, let me tell you a few more facts about what
Planned Parenthood does with the remains of aborted babies.
One order form has a note that the people ordering are this particular Planned
Parenthood affiliate's "biggest customer." The body parts ordered are all to be
taken from babies over 18-weeks gestation. This particular order wants a
thymus, a liver, a spleen, both the leg and arm bone from the same baby, and
mesentery.
The instructions to Planned Parenthood are: "Tissue should be removed and
prepared under aseptic conditions within a maximum of ten (10) minutes after
circulation has stopped."
As you read this, it gets very clear why Planned Parenthood is so adamant about
protecting the Dilation and Extraction (D&E) procedure (also know as partial-
birth abortion). If it is to remove all these organs and get them packaged up for
shipment, it wants to keep circulation going in the baby for as long as possible.
With D&E, it can kill the baby at the last minute and then rush him into a tissue-
recovery room to harvest whatever has been ordered.
Again, there is no indication on the order form as to how much Planned
Parenthood will be paid for all this harvesting. However, the Opening Lines price
list says it charges its customers the following prices for each of these baby
body parts ordered: one thymus ($75); one liver ($125); one spleen ($50); both
the leg and arm bone from the same baby ($150); and mesentery ($100).
Most of the baby parts are "needed" for some type of research. Be aware that all
kinds of baby parts are ordered, including brains and lungs and hearts and just
about every other baby body part. One order actually asked simply for an
"embryo." The order specified an embryo with a "gestational age of 4–7 weeks
with spinal column intact." The instruction for this particular order was to
"remove specimen and prepare within 15 minutes after circulation has ceased."
It further stated that the embryo was to be "shipped within 2–3 hours after
preparation."
According to the Opening Lines price list to its customers, this "intact embryonic
cadaver" will sell for $400.
Remember, technically, they do not charge for the baby itself. The $400 fee is
for the "services" of preparing the baby for shipment in the manner specified by
the customer. I know this seems like a ridiculous distinction, but it allows them to
get around the laws that prohibit the selling of human bodies or body parts.
If you are wondering how these baby parts make their way from the Planned
Parenthood abortion facility to the people ordering the parts, the answer is
Federal Express. The majority of orders included instructions to use Federal
Express and gave the customer's Federal Express account number.
I'm going to stop here. I believe you all have a very good idea of what is going
on behind the scenes at Planned Parenthood and other abortion facilities. We
cannot say for certain that every Planned Parenthood abortuary is involved in
this, but Life Dynamics has proof that some Planned Parenthood facilities are
involved, and we would not be surprised if the practice were widespread.
To get the documentation on this yourself, you can send for the booklet ($5) or
for an information kit ($15). The kit includes the booklet and a videotape
interview with someone who actually collected baby body parts at an abortuary.
A Report from Amarillo
Pro-lifers in Amarillo, Texas, have been fighting Planned Parenthood for some
time. STOPP recently received the following report from Rita Diller, pro-life
activity coordinator of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Amarillo. Here is Rita's
report:
We had a fabulous weekend. On July 30, Barbara McGuigan presented an all-
day seminar for health-care professionals at the invitation of Amarillo College
Center for Continuing Healthcare Education. There were 90 souls present, most
of whom are in no way connected with the pro-life movement and were there to
receive continuing education credits. They were absolutely captivated by
Barbara and rated her presentation with the highest possible marks. We were
able to get this program into the college by the grace of God. The mother of the
clinical director of Planned Parenthood attended and I had a very nice
conversation with her.
Barbara spoke to 700 young people at our Diocesan Youth Rally, and for the
first time in my life at a youth rally, I witnessed young people actually taking
notes!
While we were busy setting up for our Respect Life Banquet, I was informed that
Planned Parenthood had a booth across the hallway in a Back to School 2000
forum and were promoting their sex education program, which will take place
August 4th at the First United Methodist Church, for 5th, 6th & 7th grade girls
and boys. Planned Parenthood received visitors from the pro-life movement for
the remainder of the day who were both rescuing their literature and engaging
them in lively conversation. My husband spent two hours engaged in
conversation with one of the gentlemen, very effectively preventing anyone else
from visiting the booth during that time. The great thing is that just as I arrived at
the booth, my husband was promising to bring him a copy of St. Augustine's City
of God and telling the man that with his intellect and background, he would be a
pro-lifer in no time. The gentleman agreed that he could easily change his views!
As he shook my hand warmly and looked me in the eyes I had the distinct feeling
that he was begging me to rescue him from Planned Parenthood.
Bishop Yanta Receives Award
The Most Reverend John W. Yanta is the Bishop of the Diocese of Amarillo,
Texas. STOPP has been privileged to have been of service to Bishop Yanta
while he was in San Antonio and then, again in Amarillo. Since Bishop Yanta is
such a strong defender of life and vigorous opponent of Planned Parenthood, we
thought you would like to read the text of the award presentation written and
delivered by Rita Diller:
Presentation of Servant of Life Award
With the establishment of the Rachel's Vineyard ministry for post-abortion
healing, attention has been drawn to St. Mary Magdalene, a saint who has not
figured prominently in the pro-life movement, at least in our minds, up to this
point. Mary Magdalene was notorious for her sins of the flesh, and Jesus himself
saved her life by pointing out that none of us is without sin. Then He said to her,
'Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.' Although her sins were grave,
He forgave her. From that point on, she was one of His most devoted servants.
Week before last, planning committee members decided it would be appropriate
to begin a novena—nine days of prayer—for the success of our youth rally,
banquet, and Barbara McGuigan's continuing education seminar at Amarillo
College. We counted backwards nine days from the date of the seminar and
landed on the feast day of St. Mary Magdalene.
Two days before the beginning of the novena, we got a call from the Third
Order Franciscans inviting us to a Mass to be offered for the Third Order and for
the success of our events this weekend. The Mass was to be on the feast day of
St. Mary Magdalene.
Three days into our novena, a packet arrived from the National Conference of
Catholic Bishops. This is the respect life material that is sent to all Catholic
parishes every year. This year the focus is on post-abortion healing, and guess
who is on the cover of all the materials—you guessed it—St. Mary Magdalene!
So it would appear that St. Mary Magdalene has made her debut here in our
diocese as a very prominent figure in the pro-life movement. In his sermon on
her feast day, Fr. John Dalton pointed out that just as Peter was the
spokesperson for the 12 disciples, so Mary Magdalene appears to have been
the spokesperson on several occasions for the women who assisted Jesus in his
earthly ministry. He also pointed out that, along with John the Beloved and our
Lord's dear mother, Mary Magdalene was one of the few who remained with our
Lord through all of His suffering, even unto his death. When others deserted
Him, she remained steadfast.
Each year we will present an award to a member of our diocese who has shown
outstanding zeal in promoting life values; one who—when others have deserted
the pre-born, the weak, the aged, the infirm—has stood steadfast. This award
has been named for St. Mary Magdalene, under whose intercession we will carry
on the pro-life work of our diocese. It is now time to present our first annual
award.
There is one among us who has challenged us to go beyond our comfort zone
in defending the weak and innocent, to set our goals high, and has then
encouraged and supported us by word and example in realizing those goals.
Almost immediately upon his arrival in town he took a public stand against the
promotion of the culture of death by standing in opposition to Planned
Parenthood and their guest speaker, Dr. Henry Foster, an abortionist. He has
continued to stand in opposition to Planned Parenthood and the Culture of
Death by praying at eight of their facilities in our diocese, and by facilitating the
establishment of weekly prayer vigils at each of these sites.
In October of 1998, he sent a message to all Catholics of our Diocese regarding
Planned Parenthood: "As your bishop and shepherd, I ask all Catholics not to use
their services, not to belong to any of their boards, not to serve as a volunteer
and not to be employed there. In resigning your employment there, I will be
happy to assist you in finding employment elsewhere so you will not be
cooperating in these immoral practices and being a source of scandal both
within and outside the Church and community. I make this plea, in love, as my
duty to continue the mission of Jesus Christ: to teach, to sanctify and to govern."
He has most recently given permission for a weekly Respect Life Mass, which is
celebrated at the St. Anthony's campus of Baptist St. Anthony's in Amarillo. He
has supported and facilitated the establishment of educational programs such as
the one we have enjoyed tonight, as well as last year's Family Life Conference,
which brought such notable speakers as Norma McCorvey, Jim Sedlak, Sarah
Smith and Dr. Paul Byrne before us to educate us on an array of life issues.
He has enthusiastically encouraged the development of Rachel's Vineyard,
under the direction of Gwen Johns, which will be an oasis of hope in reconciling
the women and families who carry the burden of a past abortion in their hearts.
As a result of their healing and reconciliation, the number of repeat abortions will
be dramatically reduced.
He is well-known for having been arrested in defense of human life for placing
himself between the innocent children and the abortionist who was scheduled to
end the lives of these children that very day. In San Antonio, he facilitated the
establishment of a home for women and children who find themselves homeless
during the mom's pregnancy.
He has, on many occasions, stepped out of his personal comfort zone and into
the line of fire, so to speak, to be a voice for those who have no voice, those
whom God has commanded us to care for. He has been a true advocate for
women and the right to life of the pre-born.
Ladies and gentlemen, it with great pleasure that I present this year's St. Mary
Magdalene Servant of Life Award to the Most Rev. John W. Yanta, Bishop of
Amarillo.
Picketing Works
For those who think street protests have no effect, we came across the following
story in the Friday, August 6, 1999, Miami Herald. The story was headlined:
"Abortion Clinics' Owner Bows Out After 10-Year War with Protesters."
The story then goes on to describe how "one of the best-known figures in the
battle over abortion rights in Florida has sold her controversial clinics, saying
she has been worn down by more than a decade of costly tactics by anti-
abortion militants."
The story quotes the clinic owner, Patricia Baird Windle, stating "it has taken the
antis 10 years to force me out of the field as a provider. But I am not out of the
work." According to the story, Windle plans to write and lecture on abortion
rights issues.
The Miami Herald story goes on to describe how "the sidewalk outside her
Melbourne clinic was ground zero for training by the militant anti-abortion group
Operation Rescue National for three years in the early and mid-1990s.
Demonstrations at the clinic drew people from all over the country and Canada.
They were effective. Abortions dropped from just under 2,000 in 1989 to just
over 1,000 last year, Windle said."
Although Planned Parenthood and others like to blame these closings on pro-life
violence, the story notes that Windle's clinics have not been burned or bombed.
Pro-lifers have been vigilant in monitoring activities at the facilities. Complaints
have been filed with state, local and federal government health regulatory
agencies. According to published reports, "When a patient arrives for a
pregnancy test, abortion opponents get the tag number of her car, check the
registration and contact the car owner, hoping to talk the patient out of an
abortion." When the word about those tactics got around, Windle said, some
women headed to clinics elsewhere.
STOPP offers congratulations to the dedicated pro-lifers in Melbourne, Florida
for demonstrating, once again, the effectiveness of persistence and street
activities.
Report from Wisconsin
Pro-Life Wisconsin sent us the following item. STOPP's director has done a
speaking tour for this group and they are actively fighting Planned Parenthood in
the state.
Pro-Life Wisconsin was at the Capitol in Madison yesterday in response to a
performance put on by the Wisconsin Women's Network glorifying Margaret
Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, and what she stood for. We were
joined at our Press Conference by several legislators. The following is a list of
legislators who had signed their own release, decrying the exaltation of Sanger
by Wisconsin Women's Network:
Rep. Sheryl Ablers (R-Loganville), Senator Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin), Rep.
Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend), Rep. Joan Wade Spillner (R-Montello), Rep.
Carol Owens (R-Oshkosh), Rep. Carol Roessler (R-Oshkosh), Rep. Steve
Kestell (R-Elkhart Lake), Rep. Mark Gundrum (R-New Berlin), Senator Bob
Welch (R-Redgranite), Rep. Bonnie Ladwig (R-Caledonia), Rep. John Ainsworth
(R-Shawano), Rep. Neal Kedzie (R-Elkhorn), Rep. Robert Goetsch (R-Juneau),
Rep. David Ward (R-Fort Akinson), Rep. Stephen Freese (R-Dodgeville), Rep.
Scott Walker (R-Wauwautosa), Rep. Michael Huebsch (R-Onalaska), Senator
Dave Zien (R-Eau Claire), Rep. Suzanne Jeskewitz (R-Menomonee Falls).
Pro-Life Wisconsin also sent out the following press release:
(Madison)—Pro-Life Wisconsin will be holding a press conference in response
to the Wisconsin Women's Network promotion of Margaret Sanger on Women's
Equality Day.
"Margaret Sanger is not the person Planned Parenthood makes her out to be,"
said Dave Ostendorf, State Director of Pro-Life Wisconsin. "When an
organization schedules a celebration in our State Capitol that exalts an
eugenicist like Margaret Sanger, we cannot remain silent."
A glimpse into Margaret Sanger's agenda was clearly given when she stated that
"the most merciful thing a large family can do to one of its infant members is to
kill it" (Women and the New Race, 1920).
"It is my hope that my granddaughter will celebrate her unique gifts as a
woman," said Mary Matuska of Pro-Life Wisconsin, "not deny those gifts by
following a warped and empty version of equality offered by people like Margaret
Sanger."
Pro-Life Wisconsin is an educational and legislative organization representing
more than 14,000 Wisconsin families. It is also an associate of American Life
League. Any group interested in becoming an associate of ALL and of STOPP
should contact Mary Jaminet at 540-659-4171.
Pickets Close Northern Ireland Pregnancy Advisory Association
Successful street activity is not happening just in the United States. Here are
excerpts from a story in the August 5, 1999, edition of The Irish Times.
The Ulster Pregnancy Advisory Association has closed after more than 20 years,
following picketing of its counselors' homes...
Precious Life, the Northern Irish affiliate of Youth Defense, welcomed the
UPAA's closure, calling it a "great victory for direct action." Ms. Bernadette
Smyth, chairwoman of Precious Life, said her organization had been holding
pickets at the homes of UPAA counselors.
The UPAA had offered non-directive pregnancy counseling. Among the options it
highlighted to women with crisis pregnancies was abortion. It had one office in
Belfast and seven counselors in other areas, who operated on a voluntary basis
from their homes.
None of the UPAA's counselors was willing to talk about the closure. But Ms.
Audrey Simpson, of the Family Planning Association in Belfast, confirmed that
the UPAA was "closing, at least temporarily." She said its director, Ms. Joan
Wilson, was distressed and would "not be making any press statement for the
time being."
Ms. Smyth said pickets by Precious Life had "exposed" counselors "to their
neighbors." In July of last year, a picket at the home of Ms. Joyce Burell, in
Portstewart, resulted in the arrest of several Precious Life members. Ms. Burell
retired from the UPAA following the incident.
"We succeeded in closing down three of the counselors, in Portstewart, Lisburn
and in Belfast," said Ms. Smyth. "We'd distribute leaflets around the area where
they lived, with the address of the counselor. We wouldn't give the name as well
as the address, because that's against the law. Then we'd picket the house and
if we saw any women going in we'd approach them and give them information
about the abortion procedure."
Precious Life was founded in September 1996. According to Ms. Smyth, it was
started in response to the "threat of legalized abortion in Northern Ireland." It has
2,000 members, she said, and continues to picket the Belfast Family Planning
Association.
STOPP supporters will remember that STOPP's director, Jim Sedlak, gave a
number of talks in Northern Ireland in 1996 to encourage the picketing of the
Irish Family Planning Association—the Irish affiliate of the International Planned
Parenthood Federation.
PP Loses in Colorado
Recent news out of Colorado is bad for Planned Parenthood. PP has also been
fighting an increasing number of states that are seeing that it is a bad idea to
fund the organization.
On August 11, 1999, word came that Planned Parenthood funding is in trouble in
Colorado. According to a report in The Denver Post:
Planned Parenthood and
other abortion providers can no longer get state family-planning contracts under
a new policy laid out Tuesday by the administration of Gov. Bill Owens.
Owens' top health official, Jane Norton, announced Tuesday that giving
abortion providers money violates a 1984 voter-passed constitutional
amendment that banned any state money from going directly or indirectly to pay
for abortions.
Planned Parenthood condemned the decision, saying that Owens is catering to
the religious right's anti-abortion agenda, not upholding the state Constitution.
"This is about appeasing the Christian Coalition, which extracted a pledge
during the campaign last fall to de-fund Planned Parenthood," said Katie
Reinisch, spokeswoman for Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. "The
governor's attempt to de-fund Planned Parenthood will affect 15,000 women who
are responsibly trying to avoid unintended pregnancy and abortions."
The Post reported that Norton consulted with Owens before making the decision
and he supported her. An Owens' spokeswoman confirmed Owens' support for
the decision. Norton said she was confident that the services could still be
provided to women without Planned Parenthood.
The Post also revealed that "for about 20 years, Planned Parenthood has gotten
money under a contract with the state to provide health services such as cancer
screenings and birth control. This year the group was supposed to get $319,000
in state dollars. The services are provided at 13 clinics around the state in less
populated areas like Granby and Trinidad. Planned Parenthood provides
abortions at different facilities in Colorado Springs, Denver, Durango and Fort
Collins."
According to The Post, Norton's decision had its origin in an April legislative
struggle. Rep. Doug Dean of Colorado Springs, who leads the Republican
majority in the House, used a parliamentary maneuver to isolate the money in
the budget that goes to Planned Parenthood.
People all over the nation are waking up to the fact that Planned Parenthood is
not a good organization and shouldn't receive taxpayer dollars. Planned
Parenthood has closed all operations in North Dakota, Mississippi and Hawaii
and, therefore, receives no money from those states. Missouri has voted four
years in a row not to give any money to PP. Despite PP court cases, the
legislature is determined to stop the flow of money to PP. Earlier this year,
Wisconsin voted in one of its houses not to fund Planned Parenthood. Although
this policy was not adopted by the state, PP is aware that its funds are in trouble
in Wisconsin.
D.C. Residents Stand Strong against PPFA
As an illustration of the way ordinary people are beginning to understand the
real threat of Planned Parenthood, the following story comes from the nation's
capital.
STOPP researcher Mark DeYoung was involved with a number of residents of
Washington, D.C., who tried to stop the approval for a new PP office building in
that city. Here is Mark's report from the front lines:
In early September, determined residents of a downtown D.C. community made
it very clear that Planned Parenthood was not welcome in their neighborhood.
About four years ago, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America purchased
a large building that previously housed a medical clinic. PP wants to use this
building to house their public policy team, as well as researchers from the Alan
Guttmacher Institute. As this is a residential neighborhood, PP would need to
obtain a special zoning exception to use this building for office space.
To the surprise of the members of the community, less than a week prior to the
Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) hearing that would discuss PP's request, the
residents were notified through obscure postings in their buildings. According to
the BZA, PP was required to have the signs posted two weeks prior to the
hearing. PP's lawyer, by signed affidavit, claimed that the signs were indeed
posted, despite the insistence by many members of the community that they
were not. In addition, property owners within 200 feet of the building were
supposed to be notified by mail. Again, two property owners stated that this
never happened. In light of all the confusion, and enlightened by the tenacious
testimony from the residents opposing Planned Parenthood, the BZA agreed to
postpone the hearing until the following week.
In the week leading up to the new date of the hearing, the 16 members of the
group opposing Planned Parenthood were able to gather 103 signatures for an
anti-Planned Parenthood petition. In addition, with the help of a pro-life lawyer,
the group was able to develop arguments to present to the BZA.
The hearing was heated as Planned Parenthood's slick lawyers and an architect
described their plans for restoring the building and being the "best neighbors
they can be."
The zealous opposition then presented their case, with their pro-life lawyer
taking the lead. The group's key argument used Planned Parenthood's own
rhetoric against them. The group of 16 presented their concern that Planned
Parenthood's presence would cause all kinds of safety issues, with the
possibility of street protesters, bomb threats and shootings. Planned
Parenthood's Director of Administration and Security assured the pro-life group
that many measures were being taken to avoid problems. One member of the
opposition astutely brought up the question "if Planned Parenthood is not
concerned about major problems, then why are they taking extra measures to
beef up security?"
The second argument by the opposition group focused on the particular use of
the building. Since this is a residential area, they argued, the building should be
used to service the community in some way. For instance, a grocery store,
another medical clinic, or a neighborhood center might be more appropriate.
They also expressed their dismay over the fact that the area already has too
many office buildings. Therefore, they reasoned, it would be an even greater
favor to provide a zoning exception to a non-tax-paying organization.
The opposition also made known their concern that Planned Parenthood might
eventually use this facility for abortion and reproductive services, as they have
done in other cities. Planned Parenthood's lawyer assured the group that this
was not their intention, and said they would agree to sign a legal document
saying so.
Several other members of the group tried to give testimony against Planned
Parenthood based on their opposition to PP's abortion services and other
programs. However, the committee cut them short, refusing to hear any
testimony that was based on ideology or PP's business practices. They even
refused to hear testimony about Planned Parenthood's deceitful activities at
similar hearings. The board claimed they could not base a decision on any such
information.
The outcome of this courageous group's efforts remain to be seen, as the
decision by the board is still pending.
STOPP congratulates this group of 16 Washington, D.C., residents who made a
valiant effort to stop our nation's biggest killer. Even if the exception is allowed,
we know that their efforts and experiences can be used in future cases.
Some New Names at STOPP
As STOPP continues to wage the fight against Planned Parenthood, we find our
resources occasionally spread very thin. Our director, Jim Sedlak, is traveling all
over the country giving talks and encouraging people to fight the evil empire of
Planned Parenthood.
In order to keep the office running smoothly, American Life League has assigned
several of its employees to assist in the work of STOPP. There are some new
names you will be seeing in STOPP publications, and we want to introduce you
to them.
First, Jim's executive assistant is Rozann Frields. Rozann is an experienced pro-
lifer and handles all the arrangements for Jim's speaking engagements. Any of
you who have had Jim come to talk, know first hand of the professionalism and
thoroughness of Rozann's work. In addition to handling speaking, Rozann is
Jim's "right hand man" in the office. Assisting him in many ways to ensure that
the work of STOPP proceeds smoothly. If you ever call the office and need to get
a personal message to Jim and he is not here, ask for Rozann.
Next, all those groups focusing on fighting Planned Parenthood will want to write
the name of Mary Jaminet in their address files. Mary is the coordinator of ALL's
associate program. She has now accepted the additional responsibility of
coordinating all the members of the STOPP International Coalition Against
Planned Parenthood (SICAPP). In a further effort to streamline our operations,
we have rolled the SICAPP operations into the ALL Associate program and Mary
is handling all of it. If your group would like to concentrate on fighting Planned
Parenthood and would like to join in a coalition with other similar groups, contact
Mary for information.
Mark DeYoung has accepted the position as the top STOPP researcher. Mark is
a talented individual who has been praised by all the groups he has previously
worked with. You read his report on the Washington, D.C., happenings in the
article on the previous page. You will recognize Mark's name as he sent out the
last STOPP Update because Jim was on the road and could not do it.
There are other people at ALL who work closely with STOPP and whose names
you will read about in STOPP publications from time to time. People such as
Bonnie Seers who is the genius behind the graphic layout of The Ryan Report
and other STOPP literature. Others, including, Andrew Daub, Bryan Kemper and
Cathy Brown will be contributing articles to STOPP's publications.
As STOPP expands its operations, you will see these new names and many
more. These experienced and talented individuals also do work for ALL that is
not STOPP-related, but they are as dedicated as all of you to stopping Planned
Parenthood.
E-mail Rozann (for speaking engagements),
or Mary (for the associate
program), or Mark (for research), or you
may call 540-659-4171.
