June 5, 2009 09:00 AM

Washington, D.C. (05 June 2009)American Life League’s president Judie Brown issued the following statement regarding Protest the Pill Day ’09: The Pill Kills Women – the nation’s largest protest against the birth control pill – scheduled for June 6, 2009.

Pro-lifers in 21 states and four countries will participate in Protest the Pill Day ‘09: The Pill Kills Women.  They will gather at Planned Parenthood, one of the nation’s largest abortion and birth control providers, at pharmacies and at birth control sellers the nation over. They will expose the tragic effects these chemicals have on women including blood clots, heart attacks and strokes.

“Our government is subsidizing a national industry that routinely lies to women about the effects of birth control.

"Planned Parenthood, pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and 'family planning' facilities receive hundreds of millions of our tax dollars yearly – yet they're endangering the lives of women and young girls for political gain.

"The birth control pill kills women.

"This Saturday women and men across the country will speak out the truth – the birth control pill is a dangerous drug with real consequences. Yet, the Obama administration wants to throw even more of our hard-earned tax dollars to birth control producers and vendors. Women deserve better. They deserve the truth.

"And they will demand an answer to a burning question too long ignored – Why is our government subsidizing a corrupt birth control industry that leeches off the women they endanger?”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
