Whether it's pro-life philosophy, activism or legislation, whether it's about a current topic or a situation pro-lifers face in their own lives and work, this is the place where we'll talk about it! Please forward any comments to me, Judie Brown. Thank you!
What she is promising, of course, is a Congressional action that will result in tons of federal tax dollars being spent on failed research using the dead bodies of embryonic children.
The White House, of course, is saying "the president has made it clear he believes in stem cell research so much -- the administration has done more to finance stem cell research, embryonic and otherwise, than any administration in history."
You see, Bush never really banned research using the bodies of embryonic children, he merely curtailed how much research could be done using tax dollars. So it would appear that everyone ... Democrat and Republican ... is on the same page.
The tragic reality underlying such statements is that over the course of the last 34 years, politicians and a whole lot of pro-lifers have let the principle of personhood slide away into oblivion for the sake of winning elections. And the result is staring us all in the face.
I have be honest and say that I do not expect the Congress to withhold support for the killing of embryonic children. I think a funding bill will pass, and I would bet you serious money that Bush signs it. And so America will slide further into the pits of Hell where preborn children are commodities, mothers are killers and families are a historical footnote.
But I am encouraged that at the state and local level, pro-life America is strong, principled and striving. We must keep our eye on the goal, and never forget that there is no innocent human being who should ever be left behind.
I voted for Bush, now I regret it. He use to be so good sticking to what was right, now he just wants to please everyone and doesn't care what is right.
I vote strictly pro-life, and reading this type of garbage, reminds me why. elisabeth eagle | January 7, 2007
I just found a somewhat confusing quote from President. Speaking at a press conference May 31, 2005, he said, ?I made a decision a while ago that said there had been some existing stem cells and, therefore, it was okay to use federal funds on those because the life decision had already been made.
?But from that point going forward, I felt it was best to stand on principle?that is, taxpayers? money for the use of experimentation that would destroy life is a position that violates a principle of mine.?
Okay, maybe I'm not a very good political strategist, but something about that comment bothers me. When looking at so many pro-life elected officials, I see a disappointing lack of courage. Isn't it about time to put principle ahead of politics? I think so.

Dear Elisabeth
Let us pray for President Bush and all those who have never actually felt a burning desire to be truly pro-life.
Judie Brown Judie Brown | January 10, 2007
Dear Tim
I certainly do agree with you. The confusion regarding the Bush quote comes about, of course, because he never really condemned the act of killing human embryos but merely chose to say a word or two about how he thought our tax dollars should be spent.
It is high time that we pro-lifers demanded princple from those who seek our votes.
TOM PAINE, PHONE HOME! Posted: Tuesday January 2, 2007 at 2:14 pm EST by Judie Brown
I delight in reading history and reminding myself of how man often ignores the obvious and thus repeats the mistakes of the past. Among those historical figures who was wise indeed, was Thomas Paine (1737-1809), who once wrote: "Society is produced by our wants and government by our wickedness. "
Well, his namesake has a web site which he arrogantly describes as providing common sense to the visitor. And there we find the outrageous column by Cristina Page which opens with the following comment:
Listen to the apocalyptic rhetoric of the religious right and you'll find an important theme emerge: The introduction of contraception, which permits people to have sex for fun, is bound up with all of society's ills, from the imagined breakdown of the family to an undocumented surge in crimes against children.
What is this woman smoking? There is a tragic breakdown in the family, and there is escalating abortion rates, teen promiscuity, et cetera ... all traceable to birth control.
I have only quoted the first lines of this article, so you can imagine what the rest of the article tells the reader. Page is one of Planned Parenthood's biggest fans, which suggests to me that today's Tom Paine has no problem at all with the wickedness our government is subsidizing, especially when the money feeds the wants of our sexually saturated society.
Amen Judie! I think my favorite line in that article is "...not one pro-life group in the U.S. supports the use of contraception even
though it's the only proven way to prevent abortion." That is probably the most asinine statement I've ever heard. Nick | January 3, 2007
DR. LAURA GETS IT! Posted: Friday December 29, 2006 at 1:25 pm EST by Judie Brown
Dr. Laura's blog took an end of the year snipe at all of the advocacy of promiscuity that appears to be plaguing our society of late. In her commentary she notes, with particular clarity:
Planned Parenthood evidently has a policy of not reporting the molestation of minor females who come in for abortions when the sperm-donor is an adult male.
We hope her reference to "sperm-donor" is tongue in cheek, and we hope that during the New Year she lands all over Planned Parenthood repeatedly.
And may I say it is very nice to read a Jewish mother's comments particularly when they include a nice quote from Pope Benedict XVI!
I am praying to the best of my ability for the unborn.
I would like to send flyers about the Right to Life Act to a local Republican Party meeting. Ann Boul | January 2, 2007

As soon as the Right to Life Act is reintroduced in the new Congress, material will be availabble. There are people working right now on Capitol Hill to make that happen.
JUDICIAL ARROGANCE ... AGAIN! Posted: Thursday December 28, 2006 at 1:48 pm EST by Judie Brown
A few days ago a district court judge in Kansas refused to reinstate criminal charges against the abortion doctor, George Tiller.
Kansas' outgoing attorney general, Phill Kline, had charged Tiller with performing illegal late-term abortions. More than 25 charges were dropped by the judge, and one has to wonder whether or not such judicial actions are motivated more by politics than they are by actual justice.
I suggest to you that abortionist Tiller is long overdue to spend time in jail. After all, Tiller's clinic, Women's Health Care Services, not only specializes in aborting babies during the second and third trimester, but has a "chaplain" on duty to work with families after their baby is killed.

INCONSISTENCIES ABOUND Posted: Tuesday December 19, 2006 at 7:06 pm EST by Judie Brown
The prestigious scientific journal Nature recently published a thorough, and biased analysis of the state of human embryonic versus adult stem cell research.
Of interest is a statement made by the writers regarding the most common argument against human embryonic stem cell research. The writers contrast the pro-life statement that human embryonic stem cell research destroys a human life with the fact that "these same people often support in vitro fertilization technologies, despite the fact that IVF clinics routinely discard surplus embryos, which are the main source" of human embryonic stem cell lines.
As we have said frequently, it is a moral imperative that those who claim to be pro-life be consistent in the statements they make and the actions they take. We cannot oppose human embryonic stem cell research without opposing in vitro fertilization.
Yes, these inconsistencies will be thrown back in our faces later by the anti-life crowd. Gary | December 20, 2006
Gary
They have been doing so for years now and it makes me wonder why pro-lifers don't get it!
Thanks and God bless you.
Judie Brown Judie Brown | December 20, 2006
I have seen these inconsistencies in pro-lifers too. Secular Conservatives cannot see it because IVF has become culturally acceptable just like contraception. They lack Christian faith. Evangelicals have not had the the benefit of the Mageisterium to protect them. Sola Scriptura leads them to fall victim to relativism. They have no final authorithy to rely on. Pro-lifers need to realize the truth about IVF because the secularists can see the hypocricy.
Long live Christ the King.
FATHERLESS! Posted: Monday December 18, 2006 at 7:00 pm EST by Judie Brown
Gosh, I hate to send my congratulations to the Washington Post, but I must. I am exceedingly grateful for the fresh insights they have provided by publishing the first such commentary I have ever read.
The column the Post published, My Father Was an Anonymous Sperm Donor, provides tremendous insight into the wisdom of Catholic teaching which opposes artificially assisted human reproduction.
The ache in this young woman's heart is all too real, and her story presents society with an accurate accounting of how painful it can be to grow up never really comprehending the reason why you cannot know your father.
For this young woman, however, her persistence did finally pay off and she now communicates with her "father" via e-mail. Telling the reader that for a time she was angry about the way in which she came into being, she writes
When she was 32, my mother -- single, and worried that she might never marry and have a family -- allowed a doctor wearing rubber gloves to inject a syringe of sperm from an unknown man into her uterus sot hat she could have a baby. I am the result: a donor-conceived child.
But perhaps the most painful lines in her story are the closing lines:
As relief about my own situation has come to me, I've talked freely and regularly about being donor-conceived, in public and in private. In the beginning, I also talked about it a lot with my biological father. After a bit, though, I noticed that his enthusiasm for our developing relationship seemed to be waning. When I told him of my suspicion, he confirmed that he was tired of "this whole sperm-donor thing." The irony stings me more each time I think of him saying that. The very thing that brought us together was pushing us in opposite directions.
I was not conceived from a sperm donation, but I never knew my father. Not even his name or his face.
Folks, it hurts. No matter the reason, it hurts. The only thing that can comfort our fatherless generation (jut think of the number of single mothers!!!) is that our heavenly Father is watching over each and every one of us.
True, we can all relate to the pain of a single, childless woman. However, instead of bringing another fatherless child into this world, I'd rather think of all the orphans who are ALREADY here, and who are yearning for our love and care. Anna | December 19, 2006

God be with you!
Judie Brown Judie Brown | December 19, 2006
Judie,
How can God allow such a terrible thing to happen like this? Look at Europe, with it's declining birth rates and shrinking number of families. Now are people going to tell me that a child is a choice? Seems to me that at the beginning of the 20th century we were told we had "to experience life" in order to be mature. To take that a step farther, our society said, in order to be "sexually mature" we had to "experience sex." Sick and disgusting. My question is "Humanity where are you going?" Benedict XVI said we are entering a world that's post human! Our society got so positivistic that their brains fell out and lost sense of sin! One error leads to another one. Hence two World Wars. In the 19th century Darwinism taught that we were just animals and denied Adam and Eve as our ancestors. Take that a step farther we see the rise of eugenics, with their "survival of the fittest" agenda. Pro-abortionists still apply this same criteria today. Then we have physcologists saying that "our hapiness is found in our own pleasures". What is wrong with our world Judy? God put limits on our intelligence but none on our stupidity.
Nick Nick | December 20, 2006
Dear Nick
The Holy Father has warned, as did his predecessor, that the world is overwhelmed with moral relativism. And the sad fact is that too many of us are using our free will to choose evil -- thus making the world a tragic place in which to live.
God loves every single person; of that I am certain. The sad reality is that far too few truly love Him! Let's keep praying and doing what we can to turn our world back to the Lord, Jesus Christ ... our Savior.
