16 year old tells Simon Cowell to practice abstinence Tuesday January 29, 2008 at 9:13 am
Check out this video of 16 year old Amy Catherine Flynn, who may or may not be an American Idol contestant--you'll find out if she's in at the end of the clip. Watch her give an American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, a short speech on abstinence and then ask yourself if you would have had the courage to say the same thing to this man. ( LINK )
I saw this on TV and Hollywood always likes to twist pro-abstinence messages as something that is not cool or "annoying", but three cheers for Amy for standing up for what is right and making that message clear on national television! Marie | 01/29/2008 3:43 pm

Here is yet another article on pro-lifers gathering to protest Roe v. Wade. As you can see by the pictures, there was definitely support from the young people at this rally in Austin, Texas. We are continually seeing more and more young people stand up for our preborn babies and here is yet another example. The abortion supporters are losing ground. How do I know? Look at the unending support for life! We witnessed hundreds of thousands at the March for Life, we continually hear reports of hundreds and thousands of people at rallies at the local level, and protests in front of abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood clinics is on the rise. Change is happening. Abortion will end because of the people. ( LINK )
Sex Education With Even Less Responsibility Monday January 28, 2008 at 8:00 am

It seems that "sex education" groups in San Francisco, in collaboration with the San Francisco Department of Health, don't think it is enough to inundate children with sex in nearly every aspect of their culture. There is now a push to promote sex education through the use of Web 2.0 technologies--like social networking sites--and mobile communication tools, further removing parents from the education equation. Particularly disturbing is the idea of allowing teens to send their sexual partners an e-card, ala Evite, to spread the word that they may have a sexually transmitted disease. Under the guise of letting teens be more responsible about their sexuality, they are actually being let off the hook and the meaning of sex is being denigrated even further. Given some of the materials put on the internet by Dr. Jeffrey Klausner, director of the San Francisco Department of Health's STD Services, one has to wonder if this is simply an excuse to promote the Web 2.0 version of pornography.

Feministing accuses pro-life youth of being indoctrinated Sunday January 27, 2008 at 8:00 am
Perusing through the blogs at Feministing.com, I came across one that really irked me. Entitled "Survivors of Anti-Choice Indoctrination," the posting went on to cast doubt upon the reliability of the vast crowds of youth at the March for Life, and suggested that indoctrination by their parents is the cause of their anti-abortion passion.
Why is it that, when a young woman says she's pro-choice, she's heralded as intelligent beyond her years, but if a similar young woman is passionately pro-life, she's marked as "too young to understand?" ( LINK )
Oh yeah like this makes any sense. Only if you're pro-life have you been indoctrinated. And if you're pro-choice you haven't been indoctrinated? What's the difference? The sad fact is, THEY will indoctrinate some of the youth who walked the March in the next few years. But they'll call it "comprehensive education." Cranky Catholic | 01/27/2008 10:38 pm
As one of those poor brainwashed anti-choice young people, I have to say that's absurd. I know several pro-lifers my age who actually face criticism from their parents about their pro-life activism. There are also many who've lost siblings to abortion, and realize it was only the luck of the draw that it wasn't them instead. Bottom line: the pro-aborts are getting scared of us, which is why they feel the need to dismiss our fervor as something flimsy that will easily collapse. But we're not stopping the fight. Ever. Katherine | 01/28/2008 7:02 pm
As a recently turned 18 year old, I also find that statement disturbing. Though my parents are pro-life, I support life by my own choice, not because they "make" me. For all those who are pro-choice, how would you feel if your mom made the choice to abort you?? It's time to wake up. God bless. Nick Davis | 01/29/2008 10:32 am
I agree with Phil. I for one do not have pro life parents. I stand on my views because I believe that life is important thats that. you cant beat life. Kirsta | 01/29/2008 7:54 pm
Georgia Bishops Fall Prey to Incrementalism Saturday January 26, 2008 at 8:00 am

The Georgia bishops just issued a statement against HR 536, which would amend the Georgia Constitution to provide all people, including the unborn, with the right to life. The bishops basically stated that it's not the right time for this measure.
But isn't it always the right time to save babies? Why should we resort to incremental approaches, when a state human life amendment could actually overturn Roe?
Kudos to Georgians who are fighting hard to establish protection for the preborn! ( LINK )
Why again don't the Catholic bishops of Georgia support the pro-life amendment proposed for that state? They didn't even say why not. I hate how so many clergy are just pro-life posers. daniel woodard | 01/27/2008 3:14 pm
Planned Parenthood is opposed to tHR 536. So, as far as I am concerned, by taking the stand they have, the Georgia Bishops have joined hands with PP. As a Catholic I am very saddenned by this fact of their cowardice. Saddenned & ashamed.
Yes, an amendment to the US Constitution is essential. In the mean time, if Roe v Wade is overturned, it returns the decision to the states. & states with this in their constitution will be able to begin protecting the unborn immediately, the battle already having been won. Pro-lifers are winning Friday January 25, 2008 at 3:00 pm
Tuesday's Los Angeles Times contained an opinion piece that gives hope to the pro-life movement. The 800 word missive noted the gains the pro-life movement has made in swaying more and more of the American public to anti-abortion beliefs, noted the effective nature of a "Culture of Life" focus, and proclaimed that the pro-choice movement was in need of a serious reassessment. Who wrote it? Kate Michelman, former president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, and Frances Kissling, founder and former president of Catholics for a Free Choice, both of whom are big names in the pro-choice world. ( LINK )
This is great news to see how the pro-life movement is working. i think there is definately a growing level of interest and awareness across the world to this issue.
Just out of in terest you may want to have a look at my new dicussion site where i am featuring the pro-life debate. www.cicerotv.com ian | 01/28/2008 9:33 am
Clergy Bless Planned Parenthood Clinic Thursday January 24, 2008 at 1:46 pm

You read that right. Clergy members just blessed a new 18,000 square foot Planned Parenthood clinic in Schenectady, NY.
If abortion is a "choice" between a woman and her doctor, why does Planned Parenthood care to have clergy blessing its clinic? Maybe PP realizes that there is a moral decision involved here. Or maybe they're just trying to confuse the issue for people of faith. ( LINK )
I smell a double standard. When pro-lifers utilize religion, the pro-abortion voices immediately brands ALL pro-lifers as "religious fascists".....but when Planned Parenthood uses religion, those same voices are silent. Ex-Albany Activist | 01/25/2008 11:18 am
Pro-lifers march all over Thursday January 24, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Although the media may not pick up on the fact that hundreds of thousand pro-lifers participated in the 35th March for Life in Washington D.C. on January 22nd, in the smaller communities the media cannot ignore the fact that there were local protests going on in their own home towns. It is so exciting to hear about those who were not able to travel to D.C. and instead participated in their own peaceful protests at home. Here is one example of pro-lifers doing just that in St. Paul, Minnesota. Way to go Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life! ( LINK )
MSM Search Results Wednesday January 23, 2008 at 1:14 pm

While at home yesterday, resting after participating in Rock For Life's Training and Activism Weekend, I did a quick search of "March For Life" on the three big cable news channel internet sites -- Fox, CNN, and MSNBC. To no surprise none of these sites returned any results. Is this annual pilgrimage so irrelevant to mainstream media as to warrant a media blackout?
While my search on MSNBC returned nothing of the March itself, it did return a link to this story regarding a 44-year-old mother, Eileen McGoldrick, battling cancer while carrying her fourth child. Three times her oncologist asked her if she would consider terminating her pregnancy. Several of her friends, some of whom say they are Catholic, suggest she end the life of her child so that she may continue fighting for her own. So I ask, what kind of friends are these?
Real Poverty Wednesday January 23, 2008 at 8:00 am

So the numbers are out and they suggest that half of all abortions occur because the mother feels she can't afford another child. I have two major problems with this. The first is that husbands are not mentioned in the article--husbands who should be providing financial and emotional support. I realize it's generally naive to think that every woman who gets pregnant is married, but if they were it would greatly reduce this problem. My second concern is that, as Mother Teresa warned, a society that kills its children is truly poor. This article demonstrates a level of moral poverty that is absolutely shameful. It is time for America to stop deciding for poverty. ( LINK )
