American Life League Leads International Effort to Show The Pill Kills Truth
ALL and over 38 cosponsors will observe June 6 as The Pill Kills Truth National Day of Action

Washington, DC—On June 6, American Life League, STOPP (Stop Planned Parenthood International), and over 38 cosponsors from 18 states and Australia will rally to expose the dangers of hormonal contraception. This marks the eighth annual observance of The Pill Kills National Day of Action. The 2015 theme is The Pill Kills Truth.

Events have been scheduled in the US and abroad, including an educational meeting in Australia concerning the hazards of hormonal contraception by Dr. Rory Donnellan, founder of Immaculata Pathology.

Discussing plans for the event, Rita Diller, director of STOPP International, stated, “On June 6, we will hit the streets and the Internet to decry the Griswold decision and the havoc the pill brings to women’s lives and to our world. Doctors, nurses, lawyers, clergy, moms, and dads from all walks of life—with facts in hand—will refute the lies of Planned Parenthood and Big Pharma.”

Some of the notable cosponsors with national or statewide reach are Pharmacists for Life International, JillStanek.com, American Right to Life, Operation Rescue, California Right to Life Committee, TheWandererPress.com, and Pro-Life Wisconsin.

“The truth is the pill is killing babies, killing and crippling women, and tearing away at the very fabric of society—the family,” added Diller. “There is no end to the lies that are planted by population controllers to ensure every woman takes her daily dose of the death-dealing pill. We will refute the lies.”

Discriminatory H.R. 36 Not a Victory for Babies and the Pro-life Movement

Washington, DC—The passing of H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, is no victory for the pro-life movement, explained Judie Brown, president of American Life League, in a [blog=14813/]commentary issued today[/blog].

She also challenged pro-life leaders to protect all innocent preborn human life by pushing for corrected language in the bill as it moves to the Senate and to voice their support for H.R. 816, the Life at Conception Act.

“H.R. 36 does not protect all babies who feel pain—just some of them,” Brown stated, referencing exceptions in the bill that allow for abortionists to directly kill pain-capable babies conceived from rape, incest, and in cases where the life of the mother is in danger. Brown added that calling this bill a “ban” is a deceptive tactic as the bill discriminates against some babies in the name of political expediency. “Millions of faithful grassroots pro-lifers across the country are being deceived into believing that a bill that only protects some babies some of the time is to be celebrated as a pro-life victory.”

Brown challenged pro-life leaders to put aside political expediency and support H.R. 816:

“The positions of the politically-oriented pro-life groups on H.R.36 would be much more plausible if the message they were giving to their supporters was to tell Congress to pass H.R.36 this week and then, next week, pass H.R.816 declaring that ‘that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in . . . each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.’ But they NEVER talk about that bill.”

American Life League urges its supporters to voice their concerns with the language of H.R.36 and to ask their members of Congress to put H.R. 816 on the agenda.

American Life League Joins Call to Defend Religious Freedom in California Vaccine Battle

Washington, DC—American Life League, America’s oldest Catholic grassroots pro-life organization, joins Children of God for Life in the call against efforts in California to remove religious exemptions for vaccination. ALL opposes the use of fetal cell lines in the creation of certain vaccines, such as the rubella portion of the MMR vaccine.

Judie Brown, ALL’s president, stated, “This is an unprecedented attack against conscience and religious freedom in California. The government has no place dictating against the citizens’ firm convictions that they do not want to participate in vaccines created through the abuse and murder of another human being.”

Children of God for Life, an ALL Associate Group, issued a press release today and also sent a letter to all members of the California Assembly and Senate in defense of religious exemptions.

Below is the text of the COGFL press release:

California Senator Fabricates Testimony on Aborted Fetal Vaccines and Church Teaching

(Largo, FL) Children of God for Life is calling on Senator Richard Pan to retract the outrageous claims made during his testimony at hearings for SB277 that would end both personal and religious beliefs exemptions to vaccination.

When questioned by fellow senator Joel Anderson on the use of aborted fetal cell lines in vaccines, Pan responded that it was “a myth.” He continued his fabrication by acknowledging the use of aborted fetal cells “in one or two vaccines” but said it wasn’t done that way any longer.

“As a pediatrician, Senator Pan should know better,” stated Children of God for Life’s executive director, Debi Vinnedge. “And he should certainly know that there are aborted fetal cell components, DNA, and proteins present in several other vaccines and medicines, notably Hepatitis-A, MMRII, Varicella, ProQuad, Pentacel, Zostavax, and some Rabies.”

Pan also failed to acknowledge that there were over 80 elective abortions involved with the rubella vaccine alone and that the pharmaceutical industry continues to use both existing and new aborted fetal cells for ongoing research and development of future vaccines.

Adding insult to injury, Pan tried to reassure Catholic senator Anderson that the pope said it was okay to use the vaccine. But when cornered to provide the supporting evidence, Pan turned to fellow senator Allen, who quoted from an opinion article that was certainly not from the pope, as Senator Anderson quickly pointed out.

“While one might understand how a non-Catholic could make a mistake about Church documents, there is simply no excuse for an MD to err on vaccine ingredients,” noted Vinnedge. “The people of California are looking to him as a medical expert, but unfortunately, he continues to demonstrate an enormous lack of knowledge and credibility.”

Interestingly, Senator Anderson brought up a strong medical argument that children who have Hepatitis-B are allowed to attend school, however a child not vaccinated for Hepatitis-B could not, under the new law. So if the concern is about spreading disease, why would anyone think that an unvaccinated child who is perfectly healthy is a greater risk than a child who is actually infected and most capable of infecting others?

Children of God for Life has sent a letter to all members of the Assembly and Senate in defense of religious exemptions, citing the official doctrinal authority of Catholic tenets.

To view the erroneous testimony by Senators Pan and Allen, watch the YouTube video, which also shows the pertinent paragraphs from the Vatican statement that were not disclosed in testimony.

Congressional Photo Challenge Kicks Off National Pro-life T-Shirt Week
Pro-life photo contest challenges 535 members of Congress to help constituents complete Task #500

Washington, DC—American Life League, along with its more than 50 co-sponsor groups, kicked off ALL’s annual National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week photo contest today with an added bonus challenge that tasks pro-lifers to photograph themselves with a member of Congress while wearing a pro-life T-shirt.

The contest runs from April 28 to May 4. In those seven days, contestants score points by completing tasks from a list of 500 challenges posted online at NPLTW.com. The first person to reach 2,015 points wins first prize—a Samsung tablet. Other prizes include Bose headphones and speakers.

This year’s bonus contest is Task #500, which challenges participants to have themselves photographed with any member of Congress—including Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, John Boehner, Chris Smith, or Dianne Feinstein—while wearing a pro-life T-shirt. Successfully completing this task will win up to 50 pro-life T-shirts for the group or school of the contestant’s choice, while shirt supplies last.

“National Pro-Life T-Shirt Week is a simple but powerful way for pro-life youth to show their convictions on a T-shirt and provide a voice for the preborn,” said Rey Flores, project manager of NPLTW.

Flores explained that the bonus challenge of taking a photo with a member of Congress may be tough, but the real challenge will be to engage that person in a conversation about the importance of preborn Americans and their intrinsic right to life.

For more information, visit NPLTW.com. Then visit the Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts where contest participants are required to post their photographs to see how they spread their message in a fun and exciting way

American Life League calls on Bishop Bootkoski to clarify Church teaching and teacher’s status

Washington, DC—American Life League vice president, Jim Sedlak, issued the following statement in regard to a New Jersey Catholic schoolteacher who was placed on leave and the bishop’s defense of that action:

In his statement supporting the removal of a Catholic teacher from a Catholic classroom because of remarks she made about homosexuals on her Facebook page, Bishop Bootkoski failed to accurately communicate two major items.

He stated that he found that the “teacher’s comments were disturbing and do not reflect the Church’s teachings of acceptance. . . . Pope Francis reminds us that we are to accept all of our brethren.” While these statements do reflect the Church’s teaching of acceptance as contained in Paragraph 2358 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the bishop chose to omit the clear mandate of CCC paragraph 2359: “Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.”

It is disingenuous of the bishop to publicly cite the Church’s call for acceptance of the sinful individual without, at the same time, reminding the sinner of the Church’s expectation in his or her life. Such an omission will, and has, caused confusion on the true Catholic teaching regarding the homosexual lifestyle.

The bishop also made a specific point that the teacher “has never been terminated. . . . She has been put on administrative leave. There has been no interruption in her pay and benefits.” Yet, it appears the teacher has been informed that her contract will not be renewed for the 2015-2016 school year.

Whatever the bishop thinks of the language used by this teacher in her Facebook post, there is no evidence that she said anything contrary to Catholic teaching, and it would appear to be the Catholic thing to do to accept this teacher back into the school next year.

American Life League calls on Bishop Bootkoski to proclaim the full truth of Church teaching so that Catholics, and all others, will be rightly exposed to the full beauty of the gospel.

American Life League Responds to Attack
      onCatholic Education and Religious Freedom

Statement from ALL president Judie Brown in support
      of Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone

Washington, DC—San Francisco archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has come under increasing pressure after clarifying Catholic school policies in his archdiocese in order to safeguard Catholic identity. Reports surfaced showing that a high-priced public relations firm headed by Sam Singer has been employed to attack the archbishop and dissuade him from enacting the clarifications.

Judie Brown, president of American Life League, issued a statement in defense of Archbishop Cordileone:

Odd how it works! When an archbishop steps forward in “the land of the free and the home of the brave” and reiterates his defense of Catholic teaching, the devil cannot stand it. Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has every right to demand that children in his Catholic schools be taught the tenets of the Catholic faith by teachers who not only teach it, but live it. How quick the opposition is to attack him and deny him the religious freedom that permits him to act out of justice and love for the truth.

Further investigation into the enemies of Archbishop Cordileone and his defense of truth will reveal the sordid underbelly of an ugly effort in this nation to stifle moral truth, deny that God exists, and eradicate freedom to learn about Christ in the public square, not to mention in Catholic schools owned and operated by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. We applaud Archbishop Cordileone and we stand with him in this, his finest hour. We condemn those who attack the truth, be it from the LGBT community, the abortion rights community, or anywhere else where evil lurks.

American Life League’s vice president, Jim Sedlak, stated, “In an effort to spin the responsible actions of this heroic bishop in order to garner opposition to him, his opponents have hired a PR expert to spin the truth to their advantage. We will be mobilizing our constituents to storm heaven with prayer and to let the archbishop know he is not alone.”

      American Life League Remembers

      Professor Charles Rice

Statement by Judie Brown, president of American Life League

Washington, DC—Judie Brown, president of American Life League, reacted to the death of pro-life hero Professor Charles Rice with the following statement:

I was sincerely saddened and moved to tears upon hearing of the passing of my dear friend, Professor Charles Rice. From the first days of American Life League’s founding in 1979, Professor Rice was there at our side, guiding our principles, explaining the natural law, and exposing the ways manmade laws stood in the way of saving all the babies. He never disappointed us or ignored our nearly constant pleas for help and advice. He was the driving force behind the early language of what we call the personhood imperative. He and Nellie Gray led the way with style and intellectual honesty from the start.

Of all the books Dr. Rice wrote, we were especially grateful for No Exception: A Pro-Life Imperative. This book was so succinct and clear in the natural law principles Rice enunciated that it was impossible not to understand the no exceptions position once the book was digested. From 1990, when it was first published, it was required reading for every newly hired American Life League staff member. To this day there is no other book like it, but then again, there is no other man of the integrity and tough-mindedness that was Dr. Rice's hallmark.

I recall the many late-night calls I made to him when, stymied by an argument someone had thrown my way or a discussion point I felt needed more clarification, there was nobody else to ask. He always called me “kid,” and from the first days of our budding friendship I always called him Charlie.

Professor Rice was a solid Catholic, a remarkable educator, a legal mind like no other, and of course a Marine. His mental toughness made him a great champion for the babies, for the family, and for the truth. His defense of Humanae Vitae, among other Catholic documents, was awe-inspiring. His lectures to our staff were more than memorable. His sense of humor was uniquely Irish—probably because he was Irish to his core.

Professor Charles E. Rice will be sorely missed. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.

ALL President Judie Brown Fondly Remembers Cincinnati Right to Life Founder Dr. Jack Willke

Jack Willke, MD – physician, leader, friend

Washington, DC—American Life League president Judie Brown issued the following statement after learning of the death of close friend and founder of Cincinnati Right to Life, Dr. Jack Willke:

I have known Dr. Willke since my days as an Ohio Right to Life chapter member from Steubenville, Ohio (1975). During those days he became interested in my writing for the chapter newsletter, and the rest is history. When my husband was transferred, he arranged for me to volunteer my time at the NRLC offices in Washington, DC, which I did from 1976 to 1979. He then even recommended to Dr. Mildred F. Jefferson—my boss and president of NRLC at the time—that a salary for me was a good idea. What started out as a few hours a week turned into a full-time job!

Dr. Willke was the consummate educator, the expert witness at hearings, the inspirational speaker at national events, and most of all, a mentor to anyone who crossed his path and needed guidance.

While he will be sorely missed, his legacy and the fine work of his right-hand man, Brad Mattes, guarantees that he will live on in ways we cannot now imagine. We will all miss you, Jack. You are in our hearts and prayers.

      Judie Brown, President

      American Life League, Inc.
