      American Life League Supports
      Ebola Vaccine Call to Action

Washington, DC—Judie Brown, president of American Life League, issued a statement today asking all concerned citizens to support the “call to action” of ALL’s Associate Group Children of God for Life.

“It is absolutely outrageous that a scientist would consider using aborted fetal cell lines in manufacturing any Ebola vaccine,” said Brown. “We call on every person who values the life of every human being to take the action COGFL has asked in the release it sent out today.”

Below is the text of the COGFL release:

ACTION ALERT! Developing Ebola vaccines use aborted fetal cell lines: Moral options exist

(Largo, FL) Children of God for Life announced today that several Ebola vaccines in development for use worldwide are made using aborted fetal cell lines despite the fact that moral alternatives are reported as equally effective.

Glaxo SmithKline (GSK) and NIAID are jointly developed their ChAd3 vector for delivering the Ebola virus gene using HEK-293 (human embryonic kidney) cells. Likewise, NewLink Genetics of Iowa used HEK-293 cells for its VSV-EBOV Ebola vaccine in Canada, while Johnson and Johnson/Crucell developed theirs using PER C6 cells, derived from retinal tissue of an 18 week gestation aborted baby.

“There is absolutely no reason to use aborted fetal cell lines,” stated Debi Vinnedge, director of Children of God for Life. “At least two other Ebola vaccines in development by the University of Texas and GeoVax are using either Vero cells or chicken eggs. Likewise, there are therapeutic products such as ZMapp (LeafBio) and TKM-Ebola (Tekmira) that are using plant or Vero cells.”

Vinnedge wrote to the Department of HHS, the NIH, the FDA, and NIAID pointing out that even the US Department of Health listed other options such as yeast, insect, plant, bacteria, CHO, BHK, heLa and COS cells, in its own patent, stating, “The attenuated [Ebola] virus can replicate well in a cell line that lacks interferon functions, such as Vero cells.”

“It is completely irresponsible of this administration to put these problem vaccines on fast-track for approval and ignore the fact that a massive number of people may very well refuse them. Why not fast track a product that everyone can use in good conscience?” asked Vinnedge.

Children of God for Life is urging the public to contact US government agencies and their members of Congress requesting that they expedite the morally acceptable alternatives.

ALL: American Media Does Not Understand the Catholic Church

Washington, DC—“It is clear from the near hysteria of the last two days that the media in the US has no knowledge of Church procedures,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

“A preliminary report of discussions in a meeting of 200 bishops is being treated as a proclamation of Church teaching. What is happening in Rome is just part of the normal discussion that is always taking place within the Church. There has been no new proclamation and absolutely no change in Church teaching,” Brown continued.

The current discussions are expected to last for another year and, even then, may not result in any statement from the Church.

Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, stated, “Current pundits might do well to remember the 1960s when a papal study group recommended the Church allow the use of the birth control pill. Not only was that recommendation rejected by Pope Paul VI, he even issued an encyclical condemning all birth control use by Catholics.”

Paul VI will be beatified in Rome this Sunday and the synod fathers gave firm support to his landmark encyclical Humanae Vitae in several presentations.

Judie Brown issued a commentary Tuesday explaining what has and has not happened at the synod. This commentary can be viewed [blog=14320/]here[/blog].

Planned Parenthood Losing at the Synod

Washington, DC—“The fact that Planned Parenthood is an enemy of the Catholic Church is being made clearer with each passing day of the synod in Rome,” said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

Although transcripts of individual presentations at the synod are not being made public, the Vatican Information Service is releasing a summary of what was discussed at each of the sessions.

“Those summaries are painting a clear picture of a synod that has no intention of kowtowing to Planned Parenthood’s philosophies,” Brown continued. “Instead, it is clear that the Church’s teachings on abortion, contraception, and pre-marital sex are being reinforced.”

Jim Sedlak, vice president of ALL, cited a couple of examples:

In one session last week, it was reported: “With regard to children, the negative impact of contraception on society and resulting decline in the birth rate was underlined. It was remarked that Catholics should not remain silent in relation to this issue, but should instead bring a message of hope: Children are important, they bring life and joy to their parents, and they reinforce faith and religious practices.” This sentiment flies in the face of Planned Parenthood’s contraceptive mentality and population control philosophy.

In another session, Planned Parenthood’s worst fears were realized as the synod reflected on the need for “an invitation to the faithful to deepen their knowledge of Paul VI’s encyclical, Humanae Vitae, thus better understanding the meaning of the use of natural methods of fertility control and the non-acceptance of contraception.”

“As our campaign to have Planned Parenthood declared an enemy of the Church gains momentum, we are heartened by the discussion at the synod,” Brown concluded.

American Life League Calls on Vatican Synod to Discuss Planned Parenthood

Synod of the Family requested to declare Planned Parenthood an enemy of the Church

Washington, DC—American Life League today requested that the Vatican’s Synod of the Family formally take up Planned Parenthood as a point of discussion. ALL’s hope is that such discussion would lead to Planned Parenthood being declared an enemy of the Church.

ALL vice president Jim Sedlak stated, “The Synod of the Family is the most appropriate place for discussion about Planned Parenthood among the bishops. The synod’s working document lays out several key entry points for such a discussion to take place.”

Sedlak pointed to a series of commentaries issued by ALL that show how Planned Parenthood meets the description in the Vatican’s working document as a force opposed to the family.

“We continue to pray that the bishops will recognize Planned Parenthood as the greatest enemy the family faces today,” Sedlak continued.

Vatican's Social Justice Arm Caught Providing Leadership to Communist, Pro-Abortion Organization

Catholics urged to contact Cardinal Maradiaga, head of Caritas Internationalis

Washington, DC—According to a just-released American Life League Report, Caritas Internationalis, the Vatican’s top social justice organization, is providing leadership to a radically pro-abortion, communist organization.

Evidence, from both primary sources and explosive video, highlights ALL’s report showing conclusively that the World Social Forum is a radically communist and pro-abortion organization pushing for world revolution. According to both internal and primary documents, Caritas Internationalis has held a position of leadership in the World Social Forum from its inception.

Michael Hichborn, host of American Life League’s ALL Report, stated, “This is a very serious problem.  Given how intimately connected the World Social Forum has been with the promotion of communism, abortion, and homosexuality since the very beginning, it’s impossible to see how any Catholic can participate in it, or even speak positively about it, let alone have any involvement in its governance. But Caritas Internationalis does!”

American Life League is urging Catholics to prayerfully and respectfully contact Cardinal Maradiaga, the current president of Caritas, and ask him to completely disaffiliate Caritas from the World Social Forum.

American Life League Welcomes Elizabeth Ministry International to Associate Program

Elizabeth Ministry Brings Encouragement, Hope, and Healing to Women

American Life League welcomed the 126th member to its Associate program this week. Elizabeth Ministry International is a movement offering encouragement, hope, and healing on issues related to childbearing, sexuality, and relationships.

Judie Brown, president of American Life League, stated,

Elizabeth Ministry International brings a lot to the table in the pro-life movement. At American Life League, we realize and understand the importance of recognizing the grief experienced by families as a result of miscarriage or stillbirth. EMI is a shining example of upholding the dignity of both mother and child in their important work. We are proud to call them Associates. We look forward to increased collaboration in the future.

When asked why EMI decided to join American Life League’s Associate program, EMI founder Jeannie Hannemann explained:

American Life League has led the way in the pro-life movement. Our staff has always been interested in the efforts of ALL. We frequently utilize information from the ALL website. When we published our Pastoral Guide on Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Newborn Loss, ALL contacted us to create methods for collaboration in this much needed aspect of pro-life work. EMI was invited to become an ALL Associate. It is an honor to do so.

Elizabeth Ministry International’s Pastoral Guide is an excellent resource for parishes to be able to offer support to families who have experienced the loss of a child. ALL is excited to partner with Elizabeth Ministry International through our Associate program to make this important resource more readily available to families in need of this crucial support.

For further information, visit Elizabeth Ministry’s website at http://www.elizabethministry.com/.

American Life League: Planned Parenthood Threatens Families with ‘External Pressure’

Vatican Synod on the Family encouraged to
      address issue of Planned Parenthood

Washington, DC----As the Catholic world prepares for the Extraordinary Synod on the Family that begins in Rome in two weeks, American Life League pointed out today in a written commentary that part of the discussion needs to revolve around Planned Parenthood. The synod’s working document, The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization, contains several logical points of entry for this discussion to happen. The first of these entry points is an examination of forces that cause “external pressure” on families.

Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, stated, “There is no organization that creates more external pressure on families than Planned Parenthood. If the synod would recommend that International Planned Parenthood Federation, and its country affiliates, be declared an enemy of the Church, it would literally change the world.”

As stated in today’s commentary, Planned Parenthood’s propaganda exerts considerable pressure on families, children included, with the result of killing both the unity of spouses and the lives of their children.

“Planned Parenthood threatens the family at nearly every essential point,” stated Rob Gasper, director of communications for American Life League and author of the commentary. “Planned Parenthood is truly an enemy of the family and of the Church. We pray that the Holy Spirit will inspire the synod to single Planned Parenthood out and name it as such.”

The full text of Gasper’s commentary can be read [blog=14242/]here[/blog].
