Catholic Bishops: The Faithful Should Not Support Current Healthcare Reform Bills
Upset about the inclusion of abortion funding and mandates in the healthcare reform bills currently before Congress, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is blanketing 19,000 parishes across the nation with a bulletin insert instructing the faithful to oppose the bills in their present form.

Abortion may impact mental health: study
New Zealand researchers who examined the medical history of more than 500 women have concluded abortion "leads to significant distress in some".

Women reporting adverse reactions were up to 80 per cent more likely than women not exposed to abortion to have mental health problems, the Otago University study found.

Planned Parenthood Director Quits After Watching Abortion on Ultrasound
Abby Johnson, 29, used to escort women from their cars to the clinic in the eight years she volunteered and worked for Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas. But she says she knew it was time to leave after she watched a fetus "crumple" as it was vacuumed out of a patient's uterus in September.

"Every meeting that we had was, 'We don't have enough money, we don't have enough money — we've got to keep these abortions coming,'" Johnson told FoxNews.com. "It's a very lucrative business and that's why they want to increase numbers."

Aborted Fetal Material in Skin Products: Are You Serious?
In response to Children of God for Life`s press release October 27, 2009, Aborted fetal material used in anti-wrinkle cream, (See www.cogforlife.org/neocutis.htm ) thousands of angry consumers have begun taking action. Many have called or written to Neocutis to complain and unfortunately, they are receiving jaded, if not patently false responses from the company President, Mark Lemcko.

For example, Neocutis responded to one inquiry that there was only one abortion involved when in fact their own website shows that "The Laboratoire de Médecine Foetale at the Medical School of the University Hospital of Lausanne has worked extensively with fetal cells since 1995 and resulted in several patent applications."

Canadian MP Launches Petition to Stop Federal Funding of Planned Parenthood
"We, the undersigned residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to stop all funding of International Planned Parenthood Federation," reads a new petition being circulated by Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) Brad Trost (Saskatoon-Humboldt).

The petition refers specifically to a 2006 pledge from the Canadian federal government to allocate $18 million over four years to International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).  CIDA is overseen by International Cooperation Minister Bev Oda (C-Durham), who took the position in 2007.

Planned Parenthood Sues Missouri Over "Personhood" Initiative
Planned Parenthood sued the State of Missouri this week to challenge two pro-life ballot initiatives, in an apparent effort to stifle the people's constitutional right to the ballot process.

One of the ballot initiatives, submitted by Personhood Missouri, states, "Section 35, Person defined. As used in sections 2, 10, and 14 of Article I of the state constitution, the term "person" shall apply to every human being from the beginning of the biological development of that human being."

This lawsuit will cost taxpayers additional funds and use valuable government resources, pointed out Dr. Thompson. He continued to say, "The very organization that uses tax dollars to cause the deaths of millions of innocent human beings and many mothers, along with years of physical, mental, and spiritual pain, is now using government resources again to keep this issue from going to the voters."

Kennedy challenges Catholics' pro-life stance
Judie Brown, president of the American Life League, weighs in on the situation.

"What Kennedy is trying to do is paint Catholicism with the face he'd like Catholicism to have. The bishops, as far as I'm concerned, haven't gone far enough -- but at the very least, they've done the right thing by saying they don't want federal funding for abortion coverage included in healthcare reform," voices Brown. "And for Kennedy to make a statement and arrogantly condemn the bishops for doing what is right, [that] shows the height of his lack of acceptance of Catholic teaching."

Brown is pleased that Bishop Tobin publicly confronted Kennedy. She says bishops do not normally do that.
