Archbishop Burke to Join Congregation for Bishops by Katie Walker Released October 21, 2009
Washington, D.C. (21 October 2009) – The following is a statement from Judie Brown, president of American Life League, on the appointment Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, to the Vatican’s Congregation for Bishops.
“Archbishop Burke has long been known for his defense of Catholic teachings in the United States and around the world. We are elated for the Church, for the laity and most importantly, for the positive effect his appointment to the Congregation for Bishops will have on the selection of Catholic bishops faithful to the Magisterium and subsequently the restoration of respect for Christ in the Holy Eucharist through obedience to Catholic Canon Law.
"Archbishop Burke understands the imperative of the fight for human rights for all human beings from each person’s biological beginning in the same way he understands the reality of Christ truly present in Holy Eucharist. His courage throughout the years and his strong defense of truth have been a hallmark of his years as a Catholic priest, Bishop and Archbishop. American Life League understands that without courageous Catholic bishops like Archbishop Burke worldwide the 'greatest moral evil of our age' cannot be overcome.
"God bless Archbishop Burke."
