Pro-life man of prayer murdered near high school

Pro-life advocate James Pouillon was murdered the morning of September 11, 2009, because of his outspoken stance on abortion. He was gunned down across the street from the Owosso, Michigan, high school where he prayed while holding a large sign with a picture of a beautiful baby and the word “LIFE” on one side and the picture of “Malachi,” an aborted baby, on the other.

Pouillon was a disabled man who used an oxygen tank and wore leg braces. He spent much of his time outside Planned Parenthood facilities and on other street corners bearing witness to the sanctity of human life. Lansing’s WLNS-TV Channel 6 covered a memorial attended by more than 300 people at the site where he was murdered.

Planned Parenthood to partner with anti-abstinence duo

Gigi Naglak and Meghann Williams staged a burlesque show last week at Philly Fringe Live Arts Festival in Philadelphia covering “everything that you didn't learn in high school Sex Ed., and a little more.”

In an interview on the festival’s blog, Naglak expressed dismay at the fact that most sex education these days focuses on abstinence. “Our goal is to take sex education in the opposite direction,” she said, “and we think burlesque offers a unique platform to discuss these issues.”

The show features, among other oddities, the mothers of the performers discussing their sexual experiences. “We'll also cover material that people are generally too afraid to talk about, such as what happens when your wife wants to (perform an unnatural sex act) with you, the husband,” Naglak said.

She says that the duo has recently partnered with PP “and we’re excited to begin new initiatives with them.”

PP of Hudson Peconic promotes back to school special

Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic, an affiliate in the state of New York, has been advertising $25 gift certificates as a great gift idea for students going back to school. The certificates can be used to help pay for “the HPV vaccine... and for other PPHP products and services.”

Out of the 79 PP facilities in the state of New York, 12 are a part of this affiliate. On its home page, PPHP advertises free “emergency contraception” with any paid visit.

Michigan House to address legislation promoted by PP

The Michigan House of Representatives will soon take up nine bills promoted by PP that would require insurance companies to pay for birth control. The bills are a part of PP’s “Prevention First” campaign.

The bills also attempt to expand PP-style sex education in Michigan schools.

The proposed legislation would additionally violate the conscience rights of pharmacists by requiring them to fill birth control and “emergency contraception” prescriptions.

40 Days for Life kicks off in one week!

Starting Wednesday, September 23, more than 200 cities in 45 states, five Canadian provinces and Denmark will be participating in 40 Days for Life. A total of 212 locations are being covered with prayer by this fall’s campaign and, of those, 93 locations are Planned Parenthood facilities.

Billed as the largest, most widespread coordinated pro-life outreach ever, the 40 days of peaceful, prayerful, pro-life witness promises to continue to invigorate the pro-life movement with thousands of newly committed prayer warriors and will undoubtedly save countless lives by offering help and hope to women headed for abortions.

Pro-life opposition to Naples abortions

On Monday, September 14, Planned Parenthood of Collier County, located at 1425 Creech Road in Naples, Florida, started committing surgical abortions. Joe Hennessy, president of the Naples Pro-Life Council, told STOPP that local pro-life advocates will pray and witness outside PP every Monday while abortions are taking place. To get involved in opposing PP of Collier County, contact Naples Pro-Life Council at 239-262-5433 or e-mail: afl1@comcast.com

Brewery kicks out Planned Parenthood fundraiser

Founders Brewery in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has backed away from a Planned Parenthood fundraiser that was to be held in the brewery’s facility. A news report on MLive.com says, “After angry calls and letters started pouring in, Founders President Mike Stevens told organizers this week they had to switch [their support] to another local, and less controversial, charity. Kids Food Basket, which provides meals for local students, was selected [as the fundraiser beneficiary].”

Stevens said that, in the future, Founders will “no longer allow charity events without ‘our 100 percent voice’ in where the proceeds go.”
