PersonhoodFL Fires Up Petition Drive for Human Rights by Katie Walker Released September 14, 2009
Washington, D.C. (14 September 2009) – American Life League president Judie Brown saluted PersonhoodFL Monday as the grassroots state group begins preparing a historic petition drive to recognize the human rights of all people from the beginning of their biological development.
“It has been a distinct pleasure for us to collaborate with PersonhoodFL and Personhood USA in bringing media attention to their excellent effort,” Brown said. “We are committed to standing in spirit and action alongside PersonhoodFL for the realization of the American dream – human rights for all.”
PersonhoodFL held a press conference Friday in Tallahassee announcing language submission for the Florida Personhood Amendment. On Sept.18, the group will start collecting the 676,811 signatures required to bring the Amendment to a vote. The initiative is the first of its kind in Florida and could make Florida the first state in the nation to extend rights to all human beings.
American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.
