Oregon Rocks for Life Amid 'Obamacare' Uproar
by Katie Walker
Released August 18, 2009

Washington, D.C. (18 August 2009) – The director of American Life League’s Rock for Life project will return to the area where his pro-life conversion occurred to speak the pro-life message in one of America’s most pro-abortion cities.

Erik Whittington and his band, Tragedy Ann, will perform at Tom Fest on Thurs., Aug. 20, at 10:15 p.m. on Inside Stage. Erik will give his pro-life witness on Aug. 20 at 2:30 p.m. on Café Stage, and Friday, Aug. 21, at 9 p.m. on Meadow Stage.

Tom Fest is one of the nation’s largest Christian music festivals and takes place in Camas, Washington, just outside Portland, Oregon. Oregon and Washington have been at the center of the fight over the Obama administration’s push for health care “reform,” which includes mandates for abortion and euthanasia. Oregon and Washington are currently the only two states that allow euthanasia.

“Now is the time for the youth in the Northwest to stand tall against the culture of death and say, ‘No more,’” Whittington declared. At Tom Fest, Whittington will speak on the reality of abortion, the effectiveness of pro-life activism and the potential horrors of Obamacare, as well as his own pro-life conversion.

Erik’s path to full-time work in pro-life activism started in Portland. “I ran across pro-life advocates on the public sidewalks who took time out of their day to present the truth about abortion,” Erik said. “Thanks to them, not only am I pro-life, but I’m presenting the pro-life truth to others. I look forward to returning to the area, and converting hearts and minds along the way.”

American Life League was cofounded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.  For more information or press inquiries, please contact Katie Walker at 540.659.4942.
