PP despises parents

There’s something very sinister about an organization that uses the word “parenthood” in its name and then makes every effort to ensure that parents have absolutely no say when their minor daughters seek to use birth control or abort their grandchild.

Right now in Alaska, true to form, Planned Parenthood is using its alleged concern for minor children’s so-called privacy rights as a pathetic excuse for opposing parental rights. The Alaska Family Council has received the go-ahead to put an initiative on the ballot that would require parental notification before a minor can have an abortion.

Now that the measure has been certified by Alaska’s lieutenant governor, the signature-gathering process can begin. But PP wants it stopped…

RU-486 abortion regimen approved in Italy

The Italian Pharmaceuticals Agency has approved the administration of the abortion pill regimen known as RU-486 in Italy. However, according to
LifeSiteNews.com, “It is estimated… that the nearly 70 percent of doctors in Italy who are conscientious objectors to abortion will not prescribe the drug” and “senior Vatican officials responded strongly, saying that doctors who prescribe it and the women who take it risk excommunication.”

Rome’s mayor, Gianni Alemanno, expressed his disgust with this development: "Infanticide is, in fact, being legalized for the modest sum of €14 a tablet."

PP to host cloning advocate

Planned Parenthood Golden Gate is holding a breakfast fundraiser featuring a presentation titled “Ethical and Social Implications of Assisted Reproductive Technologies” on Wednesday, September 16, 9–11 a.m. at the Menlo Circus Club, located at 190 Park Lane in Atherton, California. The guest speaker is David Magnus, Ph.D.  Magnus co-edited Who Owns Life

Magnus, who supports cloning human embryos for research, is on the National Research Council Ad Hoc Committee on the Bioconfinement of Genetically Engineered Organisms.

Planned Parenthood Golden Gate is the same affiliate that produced several tasteless and immoral TV commercials, including one titled “Angel,” which mocks Christianity.

New research shows ‘safe sex’ bad for mental health

A study done by Professor Stuart Brody of the University of the West of Scotland shows that condom use is associated with “immature psychological defense mechanisms.” Professor Brody stated, “The results are consistent with condom use during PVI [penile-vaginal intercourse] being associated with psychological immaturity and predisposition to poorer mental health.” http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18761591

However, according to Planned Parenthood, “Many women and men say they have better sex when they use condoms” and “condoms have no side effects except for people who are allergic to latex.” As the Scotland study shows, Planned Parenthood is wrong once again.

PP steals souls – again

This evening gown “made entirely of condoms” was included in the “condom-themed art exhibit” featured at the ribbon cutting for the Planned Parenthood of South Central New York facility in Binghamton on September 5, 2008.

PPSCNY and the Broome County Urban League are now promoting a “day of family fun to promote community awareness and improve family communication,” to be held at the Binghamton facility on Saturday, August 15, from 12:00 noon to 4:00p.m. This would be a great opportunity for local pro-lifers to show their disgust with Planned Parenthood-style “family fun.”

Live Action’s petition against YouTube’s censorship

Last month, we discussed YouTube’s censorship of videos that expose the truth about Planned Parenthood. The pro-life student-led group, Live Action, based in California, has started a petition against YouTube’s censorship.

The petition calls for restoring the two videos that have been banned, including its most recent one, which exposed a PP employee in Birmingham, Alabama, offering to “bend the rules” on reporting child rape and obtaining parental consent. The other banned video exposed a Planned Parenthood employee telling a young woman that images of aborted babies on the internet are not real.

The petition also calls for YouTube to “assure Live Action and the YouTube community that YouTube is truly opposed to ideological censorship and is taking steps to prevent this from happening again.” Live Action has created a video explaining the petition. To view the video, click here.

Good riddance to representation for PP!

Candace Lew, Planned Parenthood Arizona’s chairwoman, and Bryan Howard, PP’s CEO, have resigned from the Arizona governor’s Commission on Women’s and Children’s Health. According to Lew and Howard, Governor Jan Brewer has ignored Planned Parenthood and repeatedly denied its requests to meet with her since she took office.

In their resignation letter, the PP officials complained that Brewer has endangered women’s health by signing laws regulating abortion this year, including the requirement for a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion and the requirement that minors receive written, notarized parental consent before obtaining an abortion. They also complained that Governor Brewer accepted a $1 million-plus federal grant for abstinence education in schools.

IRS backs off from pro-life group

After the IRS threatened the Coalition for Life of Iowa with withholding 501(c3) nonprofit status if it didn’t sign agreements to not picket or protest outside Planned Parenthood facilities, the IRS finally backed off and agreed that the pro-life organization would receive its tax exemption.

"This is a great victory for the Coalition for Life of Iowa, and for all non-profit groups," Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society, said. "The IRS must operate within the constraints of law, and it cannot condition the grant of tax exempt status on the forfeiture or surrender of First Amendment rights on the part of any non-profit group or individual American citizens."

Community says NO to PP expansion!

Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee had been planning to move from its current location at 8078 Kingston Pike in Knoxville, Tennessee, where it commits medical abortions, to a larger space at 4928 Homberg Drive in Knoxville.  Though PP denied that it planned to commit surgical abortions at the expanded facility, plans for the expansion included surgical rooms and a recovery room, which would accommodate surgical abortions.

Pro-life groups moved quickly to form an ecumenical coalition, the Pro-Life Coalition of East Tennessee. The Coalition announced at a press conference last week its opposition to the expansion of the PP facilities, which would have been in close proximity to the offices of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Shortly after the Most Rev. Richard Stika, bishop of Knoxville’s Catholic diocese, joined the Pro-Life Coalition of East Tennessee in opposing the expansion, PP announced August 7 that it will not be moving to the new location. To see a video of Bishop Stika and Dr. Doug Sager, senior pastor of First Baptist Concord Church, urging their community to oppose the PP expansion, click here

The Coalition also had contacted the building contractors and Mayor Bill Haslam, seeking to stop the expansion.

The Coalition’s web site reports,

Jeff Teague, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee, has indicated they will be looking at other options, so stay tuned for round two!
