Planned Parenthood spends millions on renovation of surgical abortion facility
The Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan, spent $2.4 million on a renovation project that includes 3,000 square feet of new space in addition to renovation of its previously existing 9,000 square feet.
Pictures of the renovated facility in the Kalamazoo Gazette reveal three stained glass windows. Inscribed on the windows are the words Life, Choice and Hope. Is this PP’s not-so-cloaked mockery of Faith, Hope and Love? How ironic that they proclaim “Life” in the first panel, and “Choice” – their code word for killing innocent babies – on the next. The last panel appears to signal arrival at a totally illogical conclusion: Killing little innocent preborn babies somehow leads to “Hope.” A more fitting panel might read, as Dante proclaimed in his portrayal of the sign above the gates of hell: “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here,” since a mother who has lost all hope is ripe to be lured into allowing the slaughter of her child.
In 2007, PP of South Central Michigan, the umbrella organization that includes the Kalamazoo abortion facility, took in $4,357,226. Where did all of this money come from? According to PP’s Form 990, $420,170 came from government-funded Medicaid. Government funding frees up money for PP to expand its killing centers and frees up funds to be used in brainwashing more young people into becoming birth control customers. And that turns them into future abortion customers, resulting in the killing of more babies and the generation of more money for PP.
What can you do? Help stop the flow of federal, state and local government funds into the hands of PP!

PP and Komen? Do not be misled!
Planned Parenthood Federation of America likes to promote its own organization by focusing on the variety of “services” that it offers women. Ever notice how PP downplays the fact that it performs abortions? Even PP knows that people don’t like abortion, but it continues to kill babies anyway. In fact, PP is the largest abortion chain in the country.
In its quest to appear as a benevolent health care organization for women, PP draws a good deal of attention to its offer of breast exams, funding for which often comes through the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Why does Susan G. Komen support the largest abortion chain in the country? Why is it that an organization such as Susan G. Komen, that raises millions of dollars for breast cancer research, gives the money to an organization promoting abortion and birth control? Especially when both of these increase the chances of women getting breast cancer?
The connection between abortion and breast cancer is well documented. To learn more about the abortion/breast cancer link visit: http://www.abortionbreastcancer.com/abc.html. Additional information is available on Life Issues.net. Click here to learn more.

Children’s theatre hires former PP staff member
Why does a theatre company that has been around since 1965 and says it exists to “advance theatre as a means of educating, challenging and inspiring young people” need a former PP employee on staff? Gabriella Calicchio, managing director for Children’s Theatre Company, speaking about the former PP employee commented, “She has a proven track record for success…”
Jodi Glaser has been hired to be the major gifts officer for Children's Theatre Company, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after working with Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota since 2004.
According to Children’s Theatre Company’s web site, “CTC serves 275,000 to 350,000 young people and families annually in five key program areas each year: stage productions, new play development, community partnerships, theatre arts training and an annual regional tour.” This woman will be in a position to influence hundreds of thousands of children every year.
It is common for PP employees to hire onto organizations that focus on children and teens. In Amarillo, Texas, Maria deBrango Stickel left employment at PP to become executive director for the regional Girl Scout organization. A Globe-News article described her background: “Stickel has a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in religious education. She is an ordained interfaith minister through Church of the Creator.”
A nurse practitioner from the Amarillo PP was working simultaneously at the Wesley Community Center, where young people are bussed from a local Catholic school for after-school care. At the Wesley Community Center, she was providing PP-style “services” to young people. When local pro-lifers intervened, the PP-inspired health program was dropped.
Recently in Falls Church, Virginia, PP was able to sneak its way into a Multicultural Day event. When local STOPPers found out about PP’s presence, they countered with education about PP, resulting in a meager turnout at PP’s table.
We often see PP’s presence in schools, in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. By gaining access to our children at school, Girl Scouts, community centers, health fairs, etc., PP earns the trust of the children and their parents, even as they go about the business of indoctrinating our young people.
Keeping PP away from our children is critical to stopping their advance in our communities. Keep close tabs on your local PP employees, so that when they move into positions that give the opportunity for great influence over children, you will know who they are and will be prepared to monitor and oppose their efforts.
Everyday presence outside PP
The people in McKinney, Texas, have been working very hard to help save the preborn babies in their area. As you can see if you click on this link, the people of McKinney make sure there is a regular presence outside of PP every day it is open! This is something all of us should be working toward. Having a regular presence for the mothers and their preborn babies is very crucial, since oftentimes, the mother is not aware of all of the help available for her and her baby.
There is also a Mobile Sonogram Unit that comes into McKinney every Tuesday, provided by the Prestonwood Pregnancy Center! You too can help save more lives by starting prayer vigils at your local PP!
To add your protest/prayer vigil to our Map Room, please visit the web site at www.stopp.org/maps or e-mail us at protests@all.org.
Protest the Pill Day was another success!
Thanks to all of the pro-lifers who participated in Protest the Pill Day ’09: The Pill Kills Women, on Saturday, June 6. Pro-lifers in 21 states and those in other countries participated in educating women about the dangers of the birth control pill and similar products. The majority of the peaceful protests took place outside Planned Parenthood clinics.
One of the Pill Kills protests took place outside the PP facility in Washington, D.C. There were at least 12 death escorts outside the killing center, and about seven representatives from the National Organization of Women who came out to support the killing of the preborn babies. Their intimidation tactics and actions did not stop the pro-lifers from helping save at least six babies from a grisly death by abortion that morning. Praise God!
After speaking with Dick Retta, a dedicated pro-lifer who reported the saves, we could see how happy he was that these young mothers did not go through with the abortions. He pointed out that they had smiles on their faces after their decisions to carry their children to term.
There were also discussions with the NOW participants as well as women who walked by as the pro-lifers were peacefully educating those around them about the dangers of the birth control pill.
On Thursday, June 4, American Life League held a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Dr. Lynn Kerr, Dr. Paul Carpentier and ALL’s own Marie Hahnenberg presented the case against the pill. To view the videos from the press conference, be sure to visit http://www.all.org/ or http://www.thepillkills.com/.
We’d like to hear from you! E-mail us at protests@all.org if you have a story to share from your participation in Protest the Pill Day or other stories of witnessing for life outside Planned Parenthood.
PP facility closes in Texas!
We have received word that the PP facility that was originally located at 9201 Dyer St. #A in El Paso, Texas, closed this past Saturday. Praise God!
It is quite possible that the closing of this PP facility happened due to a lack of funds. Lynn Salas of PP said there were no financial problems at the PP clinic despite the two staff members that were recently fired and two others that were laid off. Salas said that the closing of the PP clinic was due to “strategic reasons.”
However, in 2006, the PP of El Paso affiliate had a loss in total revenue of $119,059. As more people learn the truth about our nation’s largest abortion chain, funding will continue to decrease and we will see more PP facilities shutting down.
May this most recent PP closure inspire you to continue to spread the truth about PP and, with God’s help, close down the PP in your area!
