Planned Parenthood targets the youth with free STD testing and more

Last month we told you about Planned Parenthood’s latest attempt to push its own name via the “Get Yourself Tested” program. Unfortunately, PP is going to continue to use marketing schemes like this to tempt more young people into its clinics.

PP is now doing this by
offering free STD testing at clinics across the country. Who qualifies? According to PP, anyone 23 or younger qualifies for free STD testing.  You may ask why such a specific age. Why would PP only be advertising for 23-year-olds and younger? These are its customer base! About 70 percent of PP’s customer base is under 25 and over a quarter of them are teenagers. As we all know, PP’s biggest target is the youth!

Not only is PP offering free STD testing, but it also pushes contraceptive and promiscuous lifestyles onto our youth with web sites such as “Teen Talk” (
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/teen-talk/).  This new addition to PP’s web site appears to be replacing PP’s teenwire.com web site. Why would PP combine sites? This is but another technique that PP is using to bring more traffic into its clinics. You can easily find a PP clinic by using the search engine on its new and updated site.

Much of our youth is online. If all PP needs to do is to get kids talking about “Get Yourself Tested” and type PP in their browser, then they are caught! PP is continually trying to desensitize our youth and get them into their clinics. If PP can get our youth to visit its web sites, then the process of desensitizing them has already begun. Thus, they become not only customers, but PP hopes they, too, will become recruiters and bring more traffic into its doors.

Kansas governor vetoes funding cut for PP

An
amendment to defund PP, which passed in both houses, was vetoed by Gov. Mark Parkinson on Friday. Parkinson said that it made no sense to single out PP when the money that would be granted to the organization would not fund abortions. Clearly Gov. Parkinson does not understand that giving any money to PP will, in fact, help its business of killing more persons. It frees up more money to be used on abortions.

Mary Kay Culp, Kansans for Life executive director, said in a
press release:

When a private organization like Planned Parenthood gets tax dollars, it frees up their private funds to pay lobbyists to troll for more tax funds, and to lobby against state abortion regulations.  And even if the money goes to their clinics that don't do abortions, it frees up the private money they have available for their clinics that do.  In addition, even those clinics that don't do abortions, refer for them.

In addition to Mary Kay Culp’s comments, when you look at PP as a whole, and from its own reports, you see that it received $349.6 million from government grants and contracts in 2008. The number of persons it murdered in 2007 increased by 15,560 – which totaled 305,310 in one year. You can see that PP is in it to kill more children. We must continue to educate our congressmen on defunding PP!

On one side, you can look at this veto as a defeat. The state of Kansas was so close to defunding this organization. However, you can also look at it as more people are learning the truth about PP. The fact that defunding PP was even a possibility is a good sign. We must continue to educate this state governor and other legislators across the country! PP must be defunded!

California looks to possibly cut PP out of budget

The state of
California faces financial problems as it looks at what can be cut in the next fiscal year’s budget. The financial problem that California faces is a possible $24 billion state deficit.

At the possibility of losing state funding, PP sent out e-mail blasts begging abortion supporters to contact the state and ask that it does not defund PP.

Why is PP so worried? Perhaps it could be the amount of money that PP receives from taxpayer dollars? In this case that could mean zero dollars. Of course PP would be frantic since it relies heavily on the income it receives from local, state and federal government money. In 2006 alone, PP received $30 million from California’s state funding.

The possibility that California could wipe away state funding for PP is huge! The state of California has the most PP clinics in the entire country! Totaling 105 in 2008, California leads the nation with Texas and New York coming in second with 79 PP clinics each. According to our
2008 Report on Planned Parenthood Facilities in the U.S., 74 percent of the total number of PP clinics in California are medical and surgical abortion facilities. If state funding were taken from PP in this state, one can imagine how many lives could be saved.

What can you do? Contact Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and tell him what you think of PP! His phone number is (916) 445-2841.

Press conference focuses on women’s health

As pro-lifers plan their protests outside PP clinics and other facilities that distribute the birth control pill, American Life League will be holding a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. at 10 a.m. on June 4, two days before Protest the Pill Day.

Dr. Lynn Kerr, an associate clinical professor from the University of California and board certified in internal medicine, will be speaking on how the pill kills women. Others speaking include Dr. Paul Carpentier and Jenn Giroux. Dr. Carpentier is board certified in family practice medicine and is certified by the American Academy of FertilityCare Professionals. Jenn Giroux is founder and president of Women Influencing the Nation. She is also a registered nurse.

Cosponsors of Protest the Pill Day include Pharmacists for Life International, Pro-Life Wisconsin, Women Influencing the Nation, Human Life international, One More Soul, Pro-Life Unity, and the Archdiocese of Mobile’s Respect Life Office.

Protest the Pill Day ’09: The Pill Kills Women is Saturday, June 6. Visit
www.ThePillKills.com for more information.

Pro-life group moves into old PP facility

As PP in Sunnyside, Washington,
plans to move into a new location, its current facility will possibly be under the operation of a pro-life organization called Life Options. Life Options does not refer for or perform abortions. As it states on its web site, Life Options assists women “facing crisis pregnancies and provide on-going support and services for the client and her partner.”

This new location for Life Options is also near a pregnancy center called Birthright which offers information about adoption.

May we not only pay close attention to PP’s most recent location move – thus inspiring us to participate in regular, peaceful protests, but may more women actually be helped and more lives be saved due to Life Options’ latest move which could only help this community.
