Planned Parenthood moves to new location
The Virginia League for Planned Parenthood, located in Richmond, Virginia, is moving to a new location this week. The new abortion facility will be located in an 11,000-square-foot building with eight exam rooms and two “procedure” rooms. This particular PP does, in fact, murder preborn persons through chemical, medical and surgical abortions.
PP is moving from its old facility, which was located at 3415 Floyd Ave to 201 N. Hamilton St. It cost a total of $3.5 million to purchase and renovate the building. PP claims to have raised this money through donations but, in 2007, VLPP made a total revenue of $2,387,987.
Not only does PP plan to kill more preborn persons at its new facility, it also hopes to offer vasectomies for men. How much more proof does one need to see how PP is really trying to eliminate human persons from entering into the world? It is the largest abortion chain in America and it sterilizes men and women.
We must continue to do all that we can to fight PP and save our fellow brothers and sisters from facing the death penalty because they do not have the same rights as others. Please visit http://www.all.org/personhood/ to help educate our country on personhood.
Be sure to start a coalition to fight PP in your area. Visit our three-part plan on how to defeat PP at: http://www.stopp.org/plan.htm.
Getting PP out of your town!
If you have been a long time active member of STOPP, you have noticed that we do our best to bring to you the most up-to-date information on how to defeat PP. If you are new to our WSR list, then you are already picking up different ideas and strategies that pro-lifers across the country have found to be very effective in the fight.
If you are new, one thing we’d like to bring to your attention is our Map Room website (www.stopp.org/maps). The Map Room has each of the 844 PP clinic locations marked on a map of the United States. This Map Room has been very effective with not only mapping out the facilities, but also with identifying which PP clinic has a regularly scheduled protest outside of its building. Praise God for the men and women who have made that commitment in their area to have a regular presence and save lives. What if you have a PP facility in your town? Perhaps it could have been there for many years, or it recently opened. What can you do?
Education. The first thing you should do is start educating your community. You can do this by holding rallies and information nights, starting a petition drive (see our web site for petitions), distributing literature, writing letters to the editor or meeting with your local congressmen. These are just some of the many things you can do to help educate your community on the evils of PP.
Picketing. The single most effective thing you can do to fight an existing PP facility is to establish a regular (at least weekly) picket. This single act will lower PP's business, tarnish its community image and result in increased public attention to its programs and philosophies. All these effects will work to your benefit. Be sure to visit www.stopp.org/maps if you are interested in starting a protest in your area.
Education and picketing are two important parts to getting PP out of your town. Something you should also be aware of is the possibility of PP being in your schools or other types of programs within the community. Be sure to visit http://www.stopp.org/plan.htm#two to read more on how to defeat PP’s sex education programs.
PP also may be receiving state and local money. We already know that PP received a total of $349.6 million from our government last year alone, which was a $17.8 million increase from the year before. Sign the petition to stop this from happening at: www.stopplannedparenthoodtaxfunding.com and be sure to visit part three of our plan on how to defeat government funding of PP (http://www.stopp.org/plan.htm#three).
Protests make a difference!
We have seen how effective it is to hold peaceful protests outside of PP clinics and other abortion facilities. Educating people on the truth of abortion makes a world of difference. The same is true about educating others on the truth about the dangers of birth control. So many women are on birth control and do not realize that this “simple” pill, patch or IUD may in fact kill them or bring about many horrible side effects which could lead to death. It’s time to help wake America up and expose the truth about the pill!
Make a commitment to hold a peaceful vigil or protest in your area. Join pro-lifers across America in the largest protest against the birth control pill this country has ever seen.
Protest the Pill Day ’09: The Pill Kills Women is Saturday, June 6. We have all the resources that you may need while outside a pharmacy, doctor’s office, PP clinic, or at a busy intersection. Visit our updated web site at: www.ThePillKills.com, e-mail us at protests@all.org or call our office at 540-659-4171.
State senator sends out request asking to defund PP!
Monday, State Senator Tim Huelskamp sent out an e-mail blast asking people to contact Gov. Mark Parkinson of Kansas to defund PP. As you may recall, in last week’s WSR, we included a story about how the Huelskamp Amendment to the state budget could remove money from PP in the entire state of Kansas. This is still very much a possibility and we encourage you once again to contact Gov. Mark Parkinson at 877-579-6757 or e-mail him at governor@ks.gov and tell him what you think of PP.
The other numbers in PP’s Annual Report
Several weeks ago, we brought you the major numbers from the “Planned Parenthood Federation of America 2007 – 2008 Annual Report.” These numbers reflect the fact that PP is a huge killing machine (305,310 abortions in one year – accounting for 37.2 percent of its clinic income) that receives $349.6 million in taxpayer money while having a total income of $1.04 billion and a profit of $85 million.
These numbers are so devastating that it is easy to overlook some other numbers in the report that reflect what might be a break in the PP juggernaut.
We have been tracking PP numbers for over 25 years. PP has always used the number of female birth control customers as its primary measure of its business. This number received much attention over the years. Since 1999, this number has increased every year – going from 1,807,350 in 1999 to 2,453,906 in 2006.
However, the latest PPFA Annual Report shows that the number of female birth control customers went down in 2007 – dropping to 2,360,796. A 3.8 percent drop in one year.
Further analysis of the numbers shows that, not only the female birth control customers went down, but the number of breast exams, prenatal care and emergency contraceptive kits sold, all went down. In fact, although the number of babies it killed through abortion increased by 15,560, its total contraception business fell by almost 100,000 customers – a 2.5 percent drop.
All of this contributed to a 3.8 percent drop in the number of unique customers it saw in 2007.
What does this mean?
Well, it is always difficult to draw too many conclusions from just one year’s data, but the declines are significant enough that we can say one thing for sure.
PP is losing support among average Americans.
When all the decreases enumerated above are combined with the fact that the annual report revealed that donations to the organization went down by 5.3 percent, we see an organization that is losing its grip on its targeted audience.
These numbers also show that our long-time strategy of fighting PP on the local level, and closing down as many of its clinics as possible, is also having an effect on its customer base.
Clearly, PP is a very real threat to our children – born and preborn. While recognizing the seriousness of that threat, we do need to acknowledge that its 2007 – 2008 annual report contains some data that give us hope that the tide is turning.
PP is NOT allowed to participate!
The Arizona Women’s Health Expo and Conference takes place each year to help women in the state make their health a “top priority.” This year’s Health Expo and Conference took place on May 15, during a week of events coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health. PP was not invited to attend. When PP asked to be part of the Women’s Health Expo and Conference, the governor’s office responded, “The organization was never invited to the event by Gov. Brewer.”
What fantastic news! Three cheers for Gov. Jan Brewer for protecting the women in her state from the horrors of PP! A day filled with health screenings, informational booths, healthy cooking and raffle prizes surely did not need to be dampened with the presence of the largest abortion chain in the country.
