Two Reports Show Planned Parenthood's Main Focus: Abortion

Washington, D.C. (13 April 2009) – Despite a massive public relations effort of Planned Parenthood to distance itself from one of its main sources of income, two new reports, including the group's annual report, show a huge increase in Planned Parenthood's abortion business.
In addition to the annual report, American Life League also released a report last month showing an increase in the number of Planned Parenthood facilities performing medical abortions.
“Planned Parenthood has increased its number of abortions to a total of 305,310 which is over 15,000 more babies than it reported to have killed in 2006,” said Marie Hahnenberg, ALL researcher. “We also learned from our 2008 Report on Planned Parenthood facilities that Planned Parenthood is focusing more on killing preborn babies through medical abortions.”
In the last two years, Planned Parenthood has increased its number of facilities offering medical abortions by 61. Medical abortions involve an extremely dangerous cocktail of drugs. Some common drugs used for medical abortions are Mifepristone (RU-486) and Methotrexate.
The first drug, which kills the preborn baby, is administered at a Planned Parenthood facility. Contrary to the Food and Drug Administration's recommended regulations, the second drug the mother often takes at home – potentially alone – which induces labor. The mother gives birth to her dead baby at home.
Planned Parenthood’s 2007-2008 Annual Report shows that it received a total of $349.6 million from U.S. tax dollars.
“This is an atrocity and Planned Parenthood must be stopped,” Hahnenberg said. “Any organization that performs 24% of all abortions in the United States and received $1.04 billion in total revenue certainly does not need any of our hard working dollars going into its hands, especially since it made $85 million in profit.”
Hahnenberg urges everyone to sign the petition to defund Planned Parenthood at www.stopplannedparenthoodtaxfunding.com and to let legislators know to STOP all government funding from going to Planned Parenthood.
