Planned Parenthood announces expansion campaign

In a move reminiscent of the Clinton presidency's opening days in 1993, Planned Parenthood's president, Cecile Richards, sent a letter to PP's supporters right after the election of Barack Obama that read, in part,

"It's genuinely exciting to think about what we can achieve if we pull together… We have to pledge to work as hard to seize opportunities as we have to fend off risks and challenges… That means working to make sure our government plays its role in reaching out to the neediest women. But, it also means Planned Parenthood committing to open new clinics in underserved areas. Indeed, right now, we are surveying the entire country to determine where our presence is needed most."

In 1993, PP tried to double in size, but was blocked by a strong pro-life community who just would not let it happen. We need that resolve again in 2009. We know how to stop PP. We have a tried-and-true plan that has been shown to be successful time after time in stopping PP from coming to town or closing it down if it is already there. It is the plan that closed down 17 of 19 PP clinics in the Texas panhandle from 1997 to 2007. It is the plan that resulted in the closing of over 124 PP clinics in 11 years. It is the plan that allowed people in Corpus Christi, Texas to keep $30,000 from going to PP in that community.

STOPP has staff members available to come to your town and make educational presentations on PP. We can also meet with you and your local leaders to help you organize the effort. Once organized, we will be available to assist you, as the need arises, throughout your entire battle. To find out what we can do or schedule us to come to your town, please e-mail us at stopp@all.org.

PP nurse fired after Live Action's latest exposé

Last week, we brought you a story about an Indiana Planned Parenthood facility and a nurse's attempt to cover up the rape of a 13-year-old child so that she could still get an abortion. A videotape, found here, shows a PP nurse failing to comply with several state laws. So, what happened to the nurse who deliberately and admittedly broke laws by covering up the rape of a 13-year-old? Well, in order to save face, PP placed the nurse on unpaid suspension. Betty Cockrum, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana, released this statement regarding the situation:

"We are deeply concerned about the content of the video. While we cannot be certain whether this video has been altered, the apparent actions of the employee would be in violation of our strict policies and procedures. Therefore, a thorough internal investigation of this matter has begun, and the employee has been put on an immediate, unpaid suspension. Further disciplinary action will be taken if warranted by the investigation."

Today PP issued a press release stating that the internal investigation was completed and the employee was fired.

Perhaps outside investigators should review what is happening at every PP facility in the country. Life Dynamics showed, in its Child Predators phone calls, that over 90 percent of PP clinics across the country do almost exactly what this PP employee did.

Indiana Child Services not pressing charges against PP nurse

Indiana's Department of Child Services clearly feels that Planned Parenthood of Indiana's latest actions warrant no reprimand whatsoever. We first brought this story to your attention last week, discussing Live Action Films' latest undercover investigation of PP and its cover-up of what was presented as the rape of a 13-year-child. We have also informed you that PPIN has now fired the nurse (see above).

When asked why no charges were pressed, Steve Vaughn, director of the Indiana Department of Child Services, commented, "Since there was no minor involved, that takes us out of the picture." Apparently, attempting to break the law is not enough to warrant any deliberate investigation of an organization rampant with corruption, evil and disgusting philosophies. We ask you to become involved in the fight against PP and work to get this evil organization out of your community.

Update: Ecke Family Farms removed from PP boycott list

In last week's Wednesday STOPP Report, we asked you to boycott the Ecke Family Farm, a major poinsettia supplier. This has been an ongoing boycott effort, as the Ecke Farm and the Ecke family have been long-time major supporters of Planned Parenthood.

On the web site of Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties in California, several members of the Ecke family are listed as top-level donors in its 2006 Annual Report – the latest report posted. These include Jinx K. Ecke, Lizbeth Ecke and David Meyer, Paul Ecke III & Juliane Hampton, the Sarah Ecke May Family and the Paul & Magdalena Ecke Poinsettia Foundation.

During the week, we were told by Life Decisions International that Ecke Family Farms has been removed from the boycott list because, technically, the money to Planned Parenthood comes from the Foundation, not from the business. Under LDI rules, the business is then removed from the Boycott List.

While that makes sense in most cases, given the outrageous support of Planned Parenthood by the entire family and the foundation, we are still recommending that you check the origin of the poinsettias you are about to buy and refuse to purchase anything with the Ecke name.

Despite public berating, Kline can keep PP files

The Supreme Court of Kansas ruled that Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline and his office can retain evidence he has collected in his investigation of a Planned Parenthood facility, including a large number of PP files. Kline had been asked to "disgorge" his information from 107 cases he had filed against a Planned Parenthood clinic in Overland Park regarding its procedures pertaining to allegedly performing illegal late-term abortions and for allegedly falsifying reports. The court ruled in favor of Kline; however, some of the members of the court did not stop there.

In the court's ruling, it stated that Kline's "attitude and behavior are inexcusable, particularly for someone who purports to be a professional prosecutor. It is plain that he is interested in the pursuit of justice only as he chooses to define it." Kline, however, was pleased with the decision, regardless of the verbal lashing: "We're very pleased the prosecution can go forward." Please pray that newly elected Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe will continue to investigate these cases and that Planned Parenthood will face full justice for its actions.

PP lays off South Dakota director

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota has decided to cut its costs in these tough economic times by cutting jobs, and one of the biggest cuts the abortion giant made was laying off its director for South Dakota, Kate Looby. Looby was one of several employees who were laid off in the northern Midwest region. Planned Parenthood claims that the firings were financially motivated.

Please pray that Ms. Looby's exit from Planned Parenthood will help her realize the errors of her actions, the horrors of abortion and the evil throughout Planned Parenthood.

Empty Manger at PP on December 13

Here is an update from 40 Days for life in Indianapolis:

On Saturday, Dec. 13, we invite you to gather with us at Planned Parenthood's Abortion Center at 8590 N. Georgetown Road (just south of 86th Street) to pray for an end to abortion and to sing Christmas carols around a display of an empty wooden manger.

We will begin with "Away in a Manger," in remembrance of those unborn children who will never "lay down their sweet heads" upon any bed. The manger is also an invitation to abortion-bound mothers to figuratively place their babies upon the manger like baby Jesus. After praying and singing the rest of the caroling program we will conclude by facing the clinic and singing "Silent Night."

Elizabeth Kane, a local sidewalk counselor, brought the "Empty Manger" program to Indianapolis two years ago after hearing that Joe Scheidler's Pro-Life Action League in Chicago had originated the program in Dec, 2003 and has used it annually.

"Teens for Life," the youth group from St. Nicholas Church in Sunman, will come with their pastor, Rev. Gregory Bramlage, for the first day of their monthly commitment to pray at Planned Parenthood every 2nd Saturday from 9-11 AM.

Other youth groups and adults are welcome as well. 40 Days for Life-Indy will provide song books and hot chocolate for those who weather the elements and join us for the Empty Manger prayer and caroling program from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM.

If you have questions about joining this program, contact Elizabeth Kane at (317) 518-9000 or at catholichic4life@aol.com.

American Life League's vice president, Jim Sedlak, will be at the Empty Manger event in Indianapolis and take part in a press conference that will call Planned Parenthood of Indiana to task for protecting child predators and issuing gift certificates that can be used for abortions.
