Pro-abortion Pelosi honored at Trinity College
by ALL
Released January 3, 2007

"We are appalled that Trinity College is permitting
pro-abortion House Speaker-elect Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to use its chapel and the Catholic Mass as political fodder as she makes the rounds on her 'victory tour' today in Washington," said Judie Brown, president of American Life League. "Again and again Rep. Pelosi has gone out of her way to defend the decriminalization of abortion, and in doing so, has spit in the Catholic Church's face regarding its teachings on the sanctity of human life," said Brown.

In anticipation of her election as House Speaker, Rep. Pelosi is scheduled to attend Mass at Trinity College today as an endorsement of her alma mater and her Catholic faith. Pelosi's so-called celebration tour will also include participation in a non-denominational prayer service at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Capitol Hill tomorrow. ALL has asked Archbishop Donald Wuerl, leader of the Catholic archdiocese of Washington, D.C., to address the scandal that her appearances at Catholic venues will generate.

"It is painfully obvious that these locations were strategically chosen by Rep. Pelosi's team in an attempt to soften her image," said Brown. "The fact remains that this woman, who claims the Catholic faith, is a rabid abortion supporter who has a proven track record of approving of abortion on demand in all circumstances. It is blasphemous for her to continually tout her Catholic faith while simultaneously supporting the evil act of abortion.

"It is unfortunate that Rep. Pelosi does not use her power in the House to protect life rather than destroy it," said Brown. "She should be ashamed of her actions as a mother, as a grandmother, and as a Catholic."
