A Comedy Central comedian, and I use the word lightly, has recently taken it upon himself to ridicule Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden and his investigation of the scandal involving Planned Parenthood, its allies, and the sale of baby body parts.
Larry Wilmore, acting as the chief judge and jury of righteous indignation, says that the charges brought against Daleiden are a “carriage of justice,” crowing that “Planned Parenthood has been cleared” of all charges. We won’t quote his deleted expletives here, though it is obvious that his brand of propaganda is quite vulgar.
The problem with his narrative is that Planned Parenthood is not in the clear and Daleiden and his colleagues have just begun to fight. However, none of this matters to the purveyors of tall tales about all the “good” Planned Parenthood and its allies do. On that score, not much has changed in all the years between eugenicist Margaret Sanger’s founding of the organization and what is happening today.
However, even among Planned Parenthood supporters, there are some who are very troubled by the prosecution of pro-life investigative journalists. They say that even though they support Planned Parenthood they worry about the “chill” such prosecution creates for those who do undercover work.
To prove the value of CMP’s undercover work in particular, we need to look no further than the reports about what is going on at the University of New Mexico and the research conducted there involving the baby body parts acquired after abortions are performed. When this research came to the attention of Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, who chairs the Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives, subpoenas were immediately issued to the university, to the abortion facility South Western Options, and to several other facilities and research locations.
Dr. Curtis Boyd, the abortionist at SWO, has even admitted that indeed he knows he is killing when he performs abortions. And yes, SWO’s Boyd is involved with the National Abortion Federation, and yes NAF is an ally of Planned Parenthood in the collection of “specimens” for scientific research and only God knows what else!
And so it goes.
All of this should be shocking to the average American, and difficult to understand. How could we as a nation have grown so bloodthirsty, so callous in our regard for human beings, so blasé about something as violent as abortion? The answer is that it has taken years to get to this point.
A woman by the name of Elaine Riddick understands violence, be it toward children or the reproductive organs of women. Elaine was violently raped at the age of 13, had a baby, and was then forcibly sterilized, having been deemed promiscuous and “feeble-minded.” Today Elaine is 61 years of age. According to the online publication World, when she saw the CMP videos “of Planned Parenthood workers picking through the tiny remains of aborted babies, she was horrified.”
In the published account of her story, we find the thread that helps us understand today’s reckless abandon when dealing with innocent human beings, born and preborn. As the reporter reveals:
“It’s as if those babies didn’t have the right to live, and I didn’t have the right to bear children,” Riddick says. “And there is a connection, whether you’re killing a baby or killing a woman’s womb . . . I don’t think anyone is qualified to decide who should live and who should give birth.”
TRAGICALLY, government officials, scientists, politicians, philanthropists, and physicians—including many Planned Parenthood workers—have been making such decisions for nearly a century.
In the early 20th century, Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger—an ardent eugenicist—infamously referred to lower classes and those she deemed unfit as “human waste,” and she championed mass sterilization of so-called defective classes of people.
Not much has changed. It has only gotten much, much worse. But there is hope.
In the same way that Daleiden is standing up to the pro-abortion goons and Reddick is telling her story, you and I can go and do likewise. Light a candle in someone’s mind today by sharing the grisly facts.
We owe it to David, we owe it to Elaine, but most of all we owe it to the babies.
God help this nation.
