Eugenics

Many people have never heard of it, and most of the few who have think that it died with Adolf Hitler. But in fact, this immensely influential ideology is still with us today. In fact, some would argue that it is stronger today than ever.

Eugenics is an ideology, a movement, not a conspiracy. The idea that there are too many people in the world is found in almost every issue of National Geographic, for example. The idea that the human race could and should be improved by genetic tinkering is a standard theme in science fiction, and is supported by many serious researchers at the National Institute of Health. These are key ideas of the eugenics movement. For more information about what eugenics is, read Introduction to Eugenics.

One way to understand the eugenics movement is to study the American Eugenics Society, and see what they are doing. Studying their work is not easy. They call themselves a professional society, but for some years they have tried to keep their identity secret!
