Donna Shalala shuns embryonic children

The following is a statement from American Life League president Judie Brown:

Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala is relying on a flawed legal opinion as she authorizes scientists at NIH to proceed with research and experimentation with stem cells. These cells can be acquired only if embryonic boys and girls are destroyed in the process.

Shalala continues to purposely ignore the fact that, regardless of how stem cells arrive at the laboratories, children had to die for the cells to be made available.

The scientific facts are clear. Shalala knows that the union of a human sperm and a human egg result in a unique human being unlike mother or father and individual with his own personal DNA. This occurs at fertilization.

Shalala knows that currently, the most popular way to obtain the most useful stem cells is to destroy human embryonic children, "leftovers" from in vitro fertilization procedures.

Shalala knows that when stem cells are harvested from these tiny boys and girls, they die.

Shalala does not care. She will continue to interpret legal definitions to suit her own agenda, set the pace for more murderous experimentation and deny that there is anything unethical or immoral in what she has authorized.

Pandering to the millionaires who fund such research, Shalala is the queen of deception.
