Ban deadly human embryo research
The American Bioethics Advisory Commission will press the 106th Congress to
ban all stem cell research on human embryos, whether publicly or privately
funded. American Life League President Judie Brown said such research "ignores the fact that
a human embryo is a human being who, by his very existence, is a member of
the human family."
Researchers claim their efforts to employ the use of
stem cells, acquired from "excess" human embryos, would move along at a faster
pace if the government approved and funded human embryo research.
"Human beings must never be available for such grotesque
efforts," said Mrs. Brown, "regardless of claims that the 'greater good'
would be served. We cannot as Americans allow our tiniest brothers and sisters
to be relegated to the category of mere research material."
Mrs. Brown added that Americans should "never forget
that man may not do anything evil on the pretext that good might come from
itand destroying even one tiny human being is evil."
